I read every word of Ttessa's post as well, and was very impressed. Too much has already been said about "Terrie's case", so I will say no more about that. Right now I am thinking about Clark (one of my clients at the group home), who takes over 30 pills a day (7 different med times daily), for his advanced Parkinson's, and schizophrenia, and for his mild mental retardation. Granted -- he is not a brain injured person, but he had capabilities several years ago that he no longer has now. He used to walk fine. Now he uses a walker, or (in public) a chair that we push. Sometimes his body movements are so big, they overturn the easy-chair he sits in. He shakes so badly, that at meal time we have to spoon feed him. He is 58, and once was a tall, and (very!) strong man, but now his body is becoming a shell of what it once was. He loves van rides, and rock and roll music, with the windows down, as we motor along cruising through his old neighborhood, or hitting the freeway for some speed, and distance. Upshot of it is -- he loves life, regardless of what he is now. Yes -- at times he is frustrated by what he cannot control, but that is why I and the other staff are there for -- to let him know he is not to be blamed for it. And to let him know we are there to help him do what he wants. Everyone has their opinions here, and may I say I respect them all. I really do. I see folks in situations that others might say, "why bother", but I see the same situation, and say "let's go for it!" Guess I should have said that early on. Mighta been a more concise statement as to what I meant. "God bless us. God bless us all, each and everyone." Tiny Tim

For me it was a bit of both Oak, a bit of both. Had sweet times back in Indiana, and also here in Minnesota with the folks that chose to come to the fellowships -- cause we hung out with each other. We hung out together because of *the Word* initially, but as Socks and John pointed out -- the one fed off of the other and soon it was hard to differentiate between the two (imo). However -- I certainly would not have stayed, had there been a lot of *jerks* there (which is what it ended up being -- since everyone was more concerned about pleasing leadership, rather than be a fellowship), even if there was an abundance of Word there. I probably still would have gone for the teaching (occasionally), but not for the fellowship of others like I did in *the Golden Years*. And Geo is right too, in that at the time, most of us were young and idealistic, and that certainly puts a different spin on the thought process. Fyi -- I came to twi because of the Word that was taught. It was stuff I had never heard before, and I wanted to hear more. The *sweetness* of the fellowship was an added benefit. In later years, I stayed because of the *sweetness* of the fellowship, even though I saw the teaching starting to go downhill. So -- it has gone both ways for me. :)-->

The only consolation I get out of the NC win is Sean May is the son of Scott May (Indiana University Hoosiers -- 1976 NCAA champs). Us Hoosiers are everywhere. :D-->

Nandon -- you said -- The Pope is the head of the Catholic church, and in the past, has just been a figurehead, but this one has transcended all that, and reached out to many countries, peoples, and has done much to alleviate injustice in the world. I for one will miss him, and can only hope his successor is equally effective.

Stayed Too Long -- I'm thinking it was late 78, early 79. (I don't remember what year things happened so good either!) --> I do remember hearing in twig, from one person -- Martha Credit (wife to Peter Credit) who made the comment about the Pope chosen previously (who died in office after only being there for a coupla months) how God certainly had no choice in the matter, since the man died after just a sort time in *office*. Like I say -- I don't remember so well either, and the years get fuzzier, as they pass me by. :)-->

To which I say -- Amen.

Pope John Paul II was a good man, and I am sad for his passing. When vpw passed away, I was on LEAD in South Dakota, and felt sad then also. At the time ( when vpw passed), I thought a true man of God was gone. Now I know a better one is gone, a real Man of God who walked the walk, and talked the talk, took his turn at being mortal, and succumbed to the limits that life has on us all. Ironic -- when you think about it. I bought into twi, and revered vpw, and now I don't think he did such a good job. I was raised Catholic, rejected the religion, and now I find John Paul (anyone else catch the irony of that name??), a better man than vpw. Go figure. -->

Like a hand in a glove. eh??

Eh?? What did I miss? :D-->

Must of been a Universalist Unitarian church, eh? As opposed to a Biblical Unitarian one. Lots of my neighbors go for the *God is Nature* concept. They aren't church-goers, but it sounds like they would fit right in with the UU group.
