    New Used Cars

GsGeorge -- the CARFAX SITE that Chas mentioned, is the one you are thinking of. If you have the vin number, you can check out any auto anywhere. I did that with a Subaru wagon I was considering buying, and found out it had 4 reports about it. I would have had to pay 29.99 for the details (which I didn't), but the initial report is free, and gives you an idea about that specific auto, and what it has been through. David
  2. Yes -- Thanks! :)--> And Happy 230th Birthday to the army.

True. Subaru's tend to be more expensive because of the all-wheel drive, but you can get a mid to late 90's Honda or Toyota car for around that price pretty easily. And --- they are great on gas mileage. :)-->
  4. Man of 1,000 Names: Happy birthday to youuuu. Happy birthday to youuuu. I'd put all your name(s) in here, But I just know a few. :D--> :D--> Happy Birthday, 84! David
  5. Yup, I hear that. As they say -- Even a blind squirrel will occassionally find a nut, and a stopped clock is always right twice a day. Whenever I had things *lined up right*, it usually failed miserably. When my heart's cry came out of true need (with no thought of the *math* involved), I got answers immediately. Am guessing *holy boldness* should be viewed from a child's mindset, and not an adult's, eh? ;)--> David
  6. "Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder" is a book written by MICHAEL SAVAGE. It has been on the NY Times bestseller list for over 7 weeks now.
  7. LMAO!! :D--> Sadly though -- that is exactly the case here. :(-->
  8. Wayyyy Too Dammmmm Many!!! Twi laid the burden on everyone but themselves. If something good did not happen from a bad situaton -- it was your fault. To me, it is the ultimate cop-out to teach something along these lines and then (when not able to deliver), to blame the person involved, instead of the skewed teaching that is promoted. *Believing works for saint and sinner alike*. Rightttt. --> What a bunch of hogwash. Docvic and his *immutabile law of believing* is nothing more than a *spiritualized* version of teachings from folks like Napoleon Hill, Og Mandigo, and W. Clement Stone -- *super salesmen* who promoted the power of the mind over matter (ie -- your daily circumstances). Think And Grow Rich. PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). That was what they promoted, and taught. Shoot -- just insert *believing equals receiving*, and docvic would be right up there with all these other guys, who have been so highly revered as *motivational speakers* for so many years -- even after their deaths. When this can be successfully accomplished, I will believe in believing equals receiving. Until that time, I choose to believe that God does things as He wishes, and that it is up to me to trust Him, with no fault laid at my doorstep if the answer I wanted did not come to pass. There is nothing wrong in believing God's promises for deliverance. But I do not believe in my own believing, over His ability to do. David
  9. Yup. I knew it would turn out this way. :(--> Regardless of the prosecution's case --- CELEBRITY + MONEY = NO CONVICTION. Purt near always, imo. David
  10. Cripes -- reading this only convinces me all the more that the leapord is trying to change it's spots, and the zebra is trying to get rid of it's stripes. It ain't gonna happen. Geez -- I wonder what the new revelations will be in the *new foundational class*?? And what defines a region? --> Bi!! and Renit@ S@ge run the Minnesota area, but I don't know how large an area that comprises (not that I really care!) :D--> David
  11. I know this next is not about music, or songs -- but the control issue is what I am thinking of. Baaaaad Eldad!! Baaaaad Medad!! How dare you FOLLOW THE SPIRIT, instead of succumbing to *leadership*?? What woulda lcm done in this situation, eh?? Makes ya wonder. And for that matter, I wonder what he would have done had he been in the Mark 9:38-40 situation. Seems evident that spontaneous *happenings* are Godly as well as inspired, while *leadership control* is nothing more than modern day Pharisee*ism* putting one and all (who will listen) back under law to the powers that be. As for me and *my house* - we don't knuckle under to the thumb of twi. Let them play their mind control games. The way they are going -- soon they (the *leadership*) will be yelling at each other, as the membership dwindles as folks wise up, and get out. :)--> David

    Pension

Wacky -- Linda has a good idea there. That kind of job might provide enough employment for you to put some money away, and still leave you the free time you want for your crafts and art. My expenses are about nil too, but even so it is somewhat difficult to put money away into my 401k, which is about the only thing I have going for my retirement. And even though I am fairly healthy, it is nice to have the insurance that the company provides. It costs a whole lot less since it's a company wide group plan. I know some folks here who are self-employed also, and it seems criminal (to me) what they have to pay for their insurance. Good luck on the job decision. :)--> David
  13. Have a great time and don't lose too much to the machines. ;)--> What will the conference be about?
  14. Whadda jerk. His knowledge of music, is only equaled by his mastery of dance --- and that ain't saying much. David

    A Thread For Quitters

oh -- a quick ps. here -- By *friday night over-night* - I mean that he is there for 24 hours, nonstop. His schedule, and mine overlap by 8 hours (4 hours each day), so I have to put up with a truely dedicated smoker for those 8 hours, over a two day period. As I said -- luckily, he only works every other Friday, so my resistance will be even stronger by the next time he shows up for work. :)--> David

    A Thread For Quitters

If ya wanna know -- yesterday, and today was tough. Reason I say that is because the guy that does the "every other Friday night over-night" at the group home was working this week-end, and his favourite phrase is -- "Smoke break??" I had to tell him "Sure -- go for it", and then not join in. Mike is his name, and he is hooked on smoking (he always has a *spare carton* of cigs in his car, at all times). He and I have spent many a moment on the back deck with cigs in hand, and talking about whatever. He came on duty at 4 pm Friday, and got off duty at 4 pm Saturday. Given my shift there at the house, I work with him for a total of 8 hours -- and to hear "Smoke break??" every half hour or so, was a real temptation. Luckily, he does not work for another two weeks, so I can continue to build up my resistance before he comes back on duty, since no one else there smokes like he does. :)--> David
  18. Mr. H --- I agree (especially with what I *bolded*). Faith equals trust; Believing can equal trust; Faith can equal believing; But --- neither Faith, or Believing equals manipulation. The heart of a child asking for something is asking from need, or desire, or total lack of ability to *fend* for themselves. The child understands that they cannot do anything for themselves, and has *faith*, *believing*, and/or *trust* that their higher power (whomever that may be), will deliver. No manipulation involved, nor no *mental gymnastics* about knowing how to receive, what to do with it, etc. Docvic talked a lot, but said little about this subject -- when it came to him and his life. I am surprised that he did not equate these 5 keys with his *gas pump* experience (cough) -- showing all us *faithful followers* how he utilized these keys to show us the Word, as it hasn't been known for centuries. If he couldn't account for how it worked in his life, how in the he!! could he *teach us* to expect for it to work in our lives?? I never once heard him say how any one of these five keys were at work in his life, much less all 5, all the time. He kept going to scripture, and hounding on what was recorded there -- in order to give himself some semblence of credence (harummmph - it's scripture you know!), and wouldn't even pull a *rabbit out of the hat*, when it came to his own life, to show us how he utilized what he taught, and put into personal practice before he taught others *how to do it* according to his revelation. David
  19. The ONLY one of these five *keys* that I agree with, is the last one, and even that is not neccessary either. Certainly some of these *keys* were evident in the miracles and healings recorded in the bible, but to lump them all together as "here's how ya do it, son", is ridiculous. God's grace transcends the *modern math* that docvic tried to propound -- going far above and beyond the limits and restrictions of *five keys*. It's a shame docvic isn't alive today to tell us how these 5 keys worked for that man in India so long ago. --> I bet that guy over there never had a clue as to what one of these five keys were (except perhaps the last one), much less all of them lumped together as the formula for success. Kosher Salt

Sheesh -- never thought of them. --> Cub Foods is 3 blocks from the house I work at. Their parking lot is a royal pain-in-the-you-know-what to get in and out of, but they do have good deals and selections there.
  21. Oh --- and also -- Cool. The less time you have to drive (to work), the more time it leaves for you and your life. As much as I like to drive, and be out on the open road, I wouldn't want that 3-hour commute you were speaking of earlier. Too much *wear and tear* on body, soul, and automobile! :D-->
  22. I hear you. Glad to help out in any small way, if I can. :)--> David
  23. Aaaaaaand --- Is it required that we be in the pic with him, or just some part of the area we live in be in the picture with him?
  24. What if you don't know how to post pictures?? -->
  25. Woops -- *today is the day* is relative, I guess. It is the 11th here already, although the posting time doesn't reflect that. Oh well -- what I said still stands. :D--> David
