Outandabout -- Sure thing -- they picked and chose from the OT as to what they wanted to promote (like money and sex), and did a good job of *conveniently* ignoring anything else.! If docvic and his crew were truely promoting what the New Testament says about giving, I'm surprised they never included this tidbit from Acts 2:44-45. Was reading about this tonight in David Anderson's book THE TWO WAYS OF THE FIRST CENTURY CHURCH, and he had an interesting thing about this. (quoted from The Two Ways of the First Century Church, David Anderson - author) If docvic was so gung-ho on promoting NT over OT, how come he never taught that the individual believer should decide where his/her *offering* should go?? If we are *supposed to more* than the OT 10%, it seems both fitting, (and biblical) for us to decide where we wish to give , and not up to them to tell us that we have to give to them. I give *joyfully* all the time, and it is usually to individuals, and not a ministry. I have no regrets. I don't care. Anything from CSBP is dust in the wind, old *junk* doctrine, and scattered sand -- nothing solid to build on. They (twi) got it wrong back in the 70's, and I really don't think they've improved at all, with the passing of the years. What twi taught about tithing was simply their way of telling us we didn't know jack sh** about which verses of the bible were relevant, and which ones were not. And many of us bought into that lie. :(--> David

:D--> :D--> :D--> I think Bally's (or whatever that outfit that lcm works for is named) has a better shot at winning a lawsuit, than twi does! Uhhh -- what's the charge? Defamation of character!?!

That site is a hoot!! :D--> :D--> :D--> (Surprised they didn't *trade-mark* the background color green as well). -->

Hate to say it, but have to admit it -- today I flunked. :(--> Pressures at work, (and impending *doom*), got the better of me. If ya want to know what I am talking about, go to the Prayer Forum, and look at the *it's gonna hit the fan* thread, before it gets archived. Sorry Raf, and Karmic -- I let you down. :(--> I will start fresh tomorrow. You keep on keeping on, ok?? David

I'm not convinced that they are wafer's, either. I need to look over the site a bit more. :)--> David

Am praying for the both of you. And that's all I want to share about that! :)--> David

Outandabout --- What can I say, where do I start??? --> I just spent the last two hours reading this entire thread, from the first post on page one, to the last post on page 5. Your story is incredible!! To have survived so much, and still *come out swinging* is such an awesome thing. I never went through any of that in twi, like you did. From what you've related, and endured -- shows me that the heart and *gumption* of a believer transcends whatever a *ministry* may suggest, or teach as *all-truth*. Thank you sooo much, for your sharing. Good Gawd -- I knew things were screwed up back then, but never really how badly (from a first-hand perspective) -- until your account about trying to *do the Word*, and getting shot down by the very *ministry* that promoted it :(--> David

(Actually, my 100+ year old Great Uncle's Story)
dmiller replied to Too Gray Now's topic in My Story
Too Gray - What a great response he gave! Pretty much every sentence he wrote was a classic one-liner, that is only afforded to a person because of their wisdom of years of experience. Thank you for posting his wisdom/story for us to see here. :)--> David -
Ahhh -- ok. :)--> I've seen your posts then. Yours is the voice of reason in most of those *discussions* -- I can see why it isn't your main board! You're not vindictive like most of them there. Like I mentioned earlier, if you are curious about some of the abbreviations, and terms we use here at Greasespot -- just ask. Or else CHECK OUT THIS THREAD that defines many of the terms we use. :)--> David

I thought that there was worth repeating -- especially the second paragraph!!

Woops -- fergettin' my manners. --> Hey there Neo --- Welcome!! --> --> You're amongst friends now (dare I say *family*). :D--> Bring on that new thread. I never took WAP -- I got out when it was just a gleam in lcm's subliminal-whatever-the heck-he-had that rose to the forefront of the forehead. Will be interested to hear what you have to say. :)--> David

Lindy --- thanks, but no thanks! :D--> Hey -- I hear you've moved out West recently. If you're anywhere near those mountains, meebe you could use the brush yourself, and let us know how it works, eh?? Should work wonders with the high altitude and all.

Garth -- I was being facetious. Seems like the *ex-cult* in us, picked up on the scientology (sp?) aspect of the "rantings" TC spouted, and that is what got focused on. Without a doubt -- lawsuits would certainly be a happening thing, if someone like him were to be (cough) *shown the light* in a back room somewhere. Reminds me of the old Sam Pr*yn song -- "Tom's got the power, To take scientology over the world. Tom's got the power, To take scientology over the world" Woops -- did I quote that right?? :D-->

Am wondering what a deprogramer like Ted Patrick would charge if he had a guy like this in *custody*. *Cruise*'n for the big bucks.

Fine. It's been two and a half weeks (or 532 hours now) --- but who's counting?!? :D--> :D--> :D-->

Hey there Mike. --> I agree with most of the first sentence. I also agree with the 2nd sentence. But it is the 3rd, 4th, and 5th sentences that I don't agree with (from your statement I quoted). An honest question here (one that I think has not been asked before -- but perhaps it has): How do you know that docvic was the *chosen one*, as you said??? Why is pfal any better than other writer's works, especially the Bible itself? Why didn't God chose Billy Graham and his ministry (for instance), which has a flawless record of sexual misconduct, and preaches the gospel of reconciliation? And by what authority do you make these claims? I know that you are convinced that what you say is true, and on that -- I think all will agree. What I am asking here (honest question - remember?), is how can docvic's *works* be so highly thought of, since he got them all from other men before him, messed up so totally *in the flesh*, and they were wrong (according to you), and he is right? --> Please tell me (us) how you know for a certainty your claim in sentence number 3, about *God making docvic the one who would end all uncertainty*. I for one do not see it. Many men have walked for God. I see correctness and error in many *ministries*, but I am loath to place one over the other (as you have done), and declare one *better than others* I see God at work in many people's lives, and through many different avenues. Some are Baptist; some are Pentecostal; some are Catholic; some are Non-Denominatonal; some are; some are; some are; --- the list goes on. I learned much, and from many different *outfits* --- and twi was just one of them. They and pfal will never be more to me than that -- a learning experience. Were they all sincere?? Yes. And as we all know -- SINCERITY IS NO GUARANTEE FOR TRUTH! David
