  1. Thank you for that, Pirate. Awesome. David
  2. 2life -- are you selling a WOW pin too? ;)-->
  3. I have a LEAD t-shirt. Sadly -- I don't think it qualifies me for the North Face of Mt. Eiger, though.
  4. Garth -- point taken. But seriously, I can say that the librarians that I have known (as a son to one, and formerly married to another, as well as being aquainted with the others that they have worked with), that they are just as close minded, when they decide to be. :)--> This is not to castigate them, or their beliefs, but merely an observation on my part (1st hand experience -- if you will), that they can refuse to ascertain facts, based on personal predjudices along with the rest of us. C'est la Vie (or however you spell it!!) David

    whatever...

    I've been edited several times, and have had entire threads deleted. Moderators -- --> It doesn't bother me in the least, after I looked over the situation, and realized I was not saying *kosher* stuff. The moderators had more sense than I. My sister was killed in a hit and run accident by a man who got into an arguement with his wife, tried to strangle her, and then left in a rage (probably drunk - but that will probably not be *proven*), and drove his vehicle into my sister, snuffing out her precious life instantly, while she was at a garage sale. I don't remember much about that day either (Friday, July 15, 2005), except for the phone call I got after it happened. My entire relationship with her was gone in an instant, and she was someone I loved. If ya gotta vent --- vent. I'm gonna do the same here very shortly, and if I get *moderated*, what the F***. I will have said what I need to say, and that is what counts to me. If it never gets read -- I will at least have said it, and that is good enough for me. And believe me -- I have plenty to say. Robin was someone who celebrated life, and I for one will not see her life die with *nowhere to go*, even though she is not here to carry on. Being moderated is the least of my worries. David
  7. Oh yea -- I forgot to respond to WordWolf's assessment. I don't consider anyone less a christian (should they choose to call themselves that), if they have a set of those books, vpw's, Mel Bay's, the encyclopedia Brittanica, etc., etc., ad infinitum. Or is it ad naseum?? -->
  8. But of course! I haven't read it (any of them), nor do I wish to. I choose to believe that it is not good reading material, and that is good enough for me. What others choose is their own business. :)--> I did have a discussion with my saintly mother about this (she is a die-hard librarian to the end), and she maintains that the books are great (she hasn't read them either) merely for the fact that they are getting kids to read. I suggested that perhaps if someone *jazzed* up something like ultra-right religious teachings or (shudder) republican political platforms --- that it would be a wonderful thing, if it got kids to read. If looks could kill, I'd a been a goner!! :D--> (That's the last time I play *devil's advocate* with her!!) Guess the content does matter after all -- just depends on how you look at it. ;)-->
  9. Geez -- I only have a doorbell. :(--> Does that mean the message I send to people is *Push My Buttons*? :D-->

    20 years

    MTgal -- Congratulations! :)--> Although I gotta agree with Geo too. It would have been 30 years for me this year, but I only made it 10. :(--> I was getting divorced around the time you were getting married, but good for you. Many more to ya! David

    I agree with act2.and btw -- tell that *nurse* to go join the jerks at tbn. She can help them with their nationaly televised scam.
  12. Yeppers they do! They leave the *younger folk* to care for the town, while they "exit, stage south!"
  13. A local restaurant used to hold those pretty frequently. It was a novelty for a while, but then interest waned. I never did go.

    Whatever it looks like, those yellow splotches look like pineapple!!
  15. Silver Bay, Minnesota has a LOT of retired folks living there. 50 miles north-east of me, on the north shore of Lake Superior. Yes it snows there, but if they travel in their rv during the winter -- they won't have to worry about the snow or cold. :)-->

    Naming Names.

    Pretty much true, vickles. A lot of specific events make just as much sense when one knows what happened, without knowing *who done it*.
