I'm in the wrong business, and in the wrong town. :(

Ok ---- I see it now! Is this kinda like the *one that got away"?

Personally, I don't watch tv. Nor do I subscribe to the hype, and crap that tv shows propound. After all -- it is a producer in hollywood (or somewhere) who is relegating beliefs into your life as you watch the tv shows, right?? My personal opinion is pi$$ on them, and pi$$ on them from a very great height. I would do the same to docvic and twi, should they dare to tell me to to follow them and their doctrine to the *ultimate* destiny. In my time there, I thought they were right, but they were never that right! Belle -- did I read you right??? Did you really say you would have followed their directive, even after claiming that "we are so close to normal??" Just curious. David

I agree with both mstar, and Evan. When I got in back in '75, NO "advanced" info was *available* to anyone who had not had the proper classes, seminars, yada yada. My TC got reamed a new one for calling on me to SIT and interpret in a big meeting before I had had the intermediate class. I wasn't supposed to be able to do that, cause I hadn't had the *proper* teaching about it. Likewise -- there were *exclusive* banquets, weekends of fellowship, special teachings and music tapes *available* to those who had attained a certain level within twi --- but not to others --- even those who had had the class, and who had been faithful to twi for years. Twi was a closed society early on both to outsiders, and to those who had not yet *paid the dues* (IMO). The main recollection I have from those days is wanting to take more of the classes, so I could be included in the *good stuff* being passed down. Docvic did an excellent job of creating a hierarchy that shut off a lot of inter-action between all of us, just because some had had certain classes, and others had not. So yea -- it always was a closed society, even to those of us who took the class, sent in our money, and were given bread crumbs instead of the whole loaf. David

Belle -- I feel so sorry for you. If what you said is true, you have missed out on so, so, much. Sorry, but that is the case. Yup -- many did fake it (from what I hear here), and many are more than willing to discount a genuine experience as so much garbage because of whatever reason, that actully was genuine for them. Speaking in tongues is real. Interpretation thereof is real. Hey --- while I'm at it, counterfeiting it is real too. Now ---- which camp are you in?? Eh??? If you prepared ahead of time, then I would agree that it wasn't real. But it doesn't negate that which is real, either. :) David

Likeaeagle -- Happy birthday, no matter how old ye be. :) David

(as kids) -- my brother and I would open the phone book at random, pick a name and number, then call, and ask: "Is you're refrigerator running??" When they said "yes", we would reply --- "Then go and catch it!!", and hang up. (I'm showing my age here!!) :D David

Mooney -- heh heh heh., (ya ever tasted spotted owl??? I haven't, but I've heard it tastes like Rattlesnake, which does indeed taste like chicken). :) David

Cowgirl ---- Feelllllll those strings underneath your fingers!!: Visualize that Mando in your house; See that thing in your hands on a daily basis; Hear the rasp of the pick over the strings See yourself putting it to bed each night, in it's case, in your house AH ---- ferget it. I just realized you said to pray (NOT BELEIVE) for it. Like I told Mike --- there is no Law of believing. But I do still believe in the power of prayer! :) David

Tom and Susie -- I never did say I was a'gonna be there, but I wanted to be. I did say I was going to attend the weenie roast, but didn't make it. I wasn't able to attend either this year, cause of work situations, but I am not using that as an excuse to exonerate myself. Life throws a curve ball at times, and the one thrown at me this time was a fast one as well. If ya really want to know the truth -- I did debate about going to the wedding of two folks whose beliefs were at the opposite end of the spectrum from mine. I honestly did not know if I would be comfortable there, but after I thought it through -- I thought WTF -- put the car in drive and just GO! Fer what it is worth ---- I have gotten to know the two of you (seemingly) quite well from this site, and I would have been proud to have been there. My prejudices are finally beginning to be left in the dust, and the road moves ever onward, and forward. FYI -- it was only 519 (thereabouts) miles to the wedding, but it was 900 (plus) miles to the weenie roast. If I had to choose between the two, I woulda been there in Lincoln. As I said -- life thows a curve ball time to time. I was at work when you two were getting married that Saturday, and though I could not *drink* (while on duty), I lifted my coffee cup to the sky in a toast for you two, and said a little prayer that if either of you said *forever*, that it would be that way for now, and forever, amen. Saw this on a bumper sticker (courtesy of PBS) ----- "Born again, gun-toting, bible believing, pro-life, anti-abortion, right wing homophobic who is of the opinion that the Spotted Owl tastes like chicken" :) If I were to say that, it might AFFECT you. And if I were to say that here --- the EFFECT would be 19,000 (plus or minus a few) NEGATIVE posts, castigating me for daring to say such a thing!! Verb -- Noun /// Noun -- Verb   David

One way is to click on the *quote* button, at the bottom right of the post. :) Woops Kathy beat me to it.

Yup --- they were here in town last year. Ray is still doing the *boogie-woogie* Texas style, like he always has. :) That there's a band that will never compromise on their music.

Janis -- you said: If you were to take this to the About the Way forum, you might get some answers, but this here is not the forum for you to (rightfully) ask the questions that are on your mind. :) I personally would have a few things to say over there, but not here. So -- If you take this elsewhere, you might (perhaps) get some answers to the questions you have from folks like myself. :) David
