  1. Hmmmmm. *Frozen chosen* comes to mind. David
  2. Oak --- did I just inadverdantly bolster your viewpoint??
  3. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!! Fer a minute there, I wondered if Alan had thrown a bucket of water on ya (or sumpthin)! :P :P We'll try to keep the fun *in check* until you get back, eh? :D David
  4. Jerry --- Great point! When I read that --- it got me to thinking about how the Pharisees lived according to the letter of the law (and didn't cut the mustard), and how Jesus transcended the *letter* of the law, (and followed it in it's entirety). While I think that there is a viable reason for the *letter*, I can also see what you are saying about the Spirit. It makes sense that the two are co-dependant on each other, and to laud one over the other is an invitation for disaster. And we have had plenty of that (theologically) past and present.
  5. Perhaps you could promote the Guatamalan janitor to translator status. :)

  9. Sing along on the chorus of *Sherry* for me. :) (I never could hit those high notes). :(
  10. Railroader --- go to the head of the *class*!! ;) I remember many times docvic said "Don't take my word for it, check it out yourselves" (or something to that effect). I also remember everyone going "heh heh heh -- yea right. We don't need to check out YOUR research" Complacency led to blind obedience, which led to ignorance, which was manifested in a *more than abysmal life*. David

    Go Ahead Laugh!

Christian One-Liners........ "Don't let your worries get the best of you, remember, Moses started out as a basket case" Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited - until you try to sit in their pews. Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one. The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose, But mosquitoes come close. People are funny, they want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church. Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever. Quit griping about your church; if it were perfect, you couldn't belong. If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has. God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you? Some minds are like concrete, thoroughly mixed up and Permanently set. I don't know why some people change churches; what difference does it make which one you stay home from? A lot of church members who are singing "Standing on the Promises" are just sitting on the premises. Forbidden fruits create many jams. God loves everyone, but probably prefers "fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts!" You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to ...... discourage him.
  14. Kicking them out, and not reporting them the authorities would be doing the criminal a favor. As far as the *ratting on* aspect, twi (imo) wouldn't do that, just because of the involvement of the legal proceedings that would follow. Shucks --- anyone who has ever *danced* with that outfit knows that the only legalities they acknowledge, are implemented by them, imposed by them, and mandated by them. I can't imagine anyone from the BOD (or BOT, or whatever they are called now) inviting criminal investigation anywhere near the grounds --- something else *suspicious* might come up, and Lordy, lordy --- "what have we got to answer for here?" It's the coward's way out, to just M&A someone who should be doing jail time. Jeez -- now that I think on it -- doesn't lcm fall into that category too? David
  15. Pre-nuptial agreements will never be the same again!!!
  16. How To Pick Five String Banjo, by Jimi Hendix This Old House, by Frank Lloyd Wright Just Say No To Drugs, by Jerry Garcia It Takes A Village To *Raise* My Husband, by Hillary Clinton Hard Times, Come Again No More, by Lorenna Bobbit
  17. Yup -- he did. And LCM after him -- and I lay the blame at my doorstep for believing them, instead of the source. :(
  18. Yup -- I remember that , and fer what it is worth, that is a true statement, whether or not docvic said it! :) If God is God, then what He says carries weight, and is worthy of perusal. (My IMO) ;) David
  19. I wasn't *yanked out*, but once I saw the hypocrisy of *do as I say*, I was on the way out. After hearing multiple stories of something I never would have imagined possible, I began to see that twi was no more than a church in sheep's clothing. Woops -- did I say *church*?? I meant wolf. I didn't believe the first reports I heard (hey -- I am a long ways from hdqtrs), but when they kept coming up; and coming up; and coming up; It got pretty hard to ignore the reports. It got really hard to absolve guilt from all I heard; AND THE GUILT STARTED FROM THE TOP!!! I left the outfit because they had sunk to lower depths than those they had castigated in the past. They became the outfit that they always preached against -- the church. Legalistic. Demanding. *Our way or the Highway*. No question of Doctrine. You follow -- We lead. And on, and on, and on, and on. Does anyone here believe in the law of gravity?????????? WHAT IS CORRUPT AT THE TOP, WILL FIND IT'S WAY TO THE BOTTOM. David
  20. I used to lean too, but then I quit drinking. ;) That could be construed as some sort of politcal entity (these days!) :P, but generally it refers to one of them thar *evil* mechanical beasts that burns gasoline for it's cylinders while spewing forth obnoxious exhaust fumes into the atmosphere as it chews up and spits out precious foliage growing from Mother Earth. It's hated by the *environmental wacko commies*, and revered by all those who have a serious love for a well maintained yard free of pesky brush that refuses to grow elsewhere. *Not in my backyard* is a favourite phrase of bush hog (brush hawg) owners. :D (Ps -- They should be on sale at your local Menard's and Home Depot's -- since they need to make room for all the snow-blowers they are now getting into stock!) David
  21.   (Cripes -- what an accurate description of twi.) :(
  22. Am active on other boards too, where music is the big discussion. I inter-act *face to face* too in daily life, with the internet being *The Other Side*. Both are a safe haven for me, and I feel welcomed, and understood by both. Life can be good (if you let it!) Hmmmm. David
  23. Likeaeagle --- Many here (excluding the agnostics and atheists) have come to exactly that conclusion, and it is *living* for us in a much larger way than it did in twi. Now we are not forced to do things, but can operate freely without being under such stringent guidlines as enforced by Church twi. We now attend meetings if we wish, of our choosing, because we can. We now give money from the heart to churches, because we decide how much. We now are active in communities and doing good in them, since we are free from *legalism*. We can give to charities of our choosing, whether or not they are *good* or the *best*. We can talk to folks about God and Bible, with no ulterior motives of *signing them up* for the class. We can even give money to the panhandler on the street, and believe that God honors that gift. We can do a lot of things now that were *un-available* to do before. Twi is a non-entity, while God is still a big entity (to some of us), and the freedom found outside the cage that twi put us in is both refreshing, as well as extremely rewarding. You said -- "God loves us no matter what". I not only agree with this, but I would take this a step further, and say that He might just love us a bit more, now that we are doing more. As Song used to say --- *Just a thot!* :) David
  24. AC status taken away, eh? I keep forgetting that it's a status thing, rather than a benchmark of *biblical learning*. If AC *status* can be taken away (which was earned), I wonder if the *Rev* title can be taken away (which was bestowed). That was a mighty fine letter. From 2001, eh? Hope they are out and happy by now. :) David
