Hey there Thin Lizzy!! Welcome to Greasespot. Now -- about the quote up above. twi never saved anyone's life. It is God that does that, not the organization. :) Sure they shared the Word with you (me too). And yup -- the world has little to offer, but the same can be said of twi. They are competing with the world for your soul, and it isn't on a godly level. :( I have fond memories of some of my times there; I hang onto some of the Word I learned there; But I hate the org for what it is with it's two-fisted taking, two-faced lying, and two-step dancing to get out of the way of any accusations or allegations that would tarnish the goody two-shoe image that exists only in their minds, and in the minds of the blind followers they still have left. Bramble and Rascal are right --- the good ones are out, and the worst ones are still in, and in control. But you said: Folks in the wc couldn't think for themselves before they went in??? Huh, new one to me. And I doubt very seriously that rosie and gang are teaching them to come up with questions about twi. Well -- nuff said. I took AC 79, and had a blast, but I would never go back to twi, regardless of how much they say they have changed. twi will change, when they are serving ice water in Hell. David

Man does that sound familiar!! :( Mark --- I agree with your point number 3 at the bottom of the page about Olmstead. Too bad more don't move as quickly as he did.

A cop pulls into a country bar parking lot in Texas just after last call. He sat in his car waiting, and soon an obviously drunken man emerged from the bar. He stumbled on his feet, dropped his keys twice, tried to fit the keys into 6 diffeent cars, before he finally found the right one, and got in. By now the cop was watching with real interest. A couple other cars left the parking lot, and the drunk turned on the windshield wipers (it was a perfectly clear, dry night), tried the turn signals, then turned them off. When 3 or 4 more cars left the lot, the drunk started up his car, moved it forward a couple of feet, then backed it up and turned it off. The cop waited patiently to make his move. By now the last cars had left the parking lot, and the drunk started up his car and slowly, painfully slowly, put it into gear and started driving out of the parking lot, and onto the road. Once he reached the road, the cop turned on his flashing lights, pulled out after the drunk and easily got him to stop. He got the drunk out of the car and administered a breath analyzer test. To the amazement of the cop, the test showed no alcohol at all, none whatsoever. "Come on with me, we are going to headquarters" he told the drunk. "This equipment seems to be broken". The drunk gave the cop a big Texas grin and said; "I ain't a'goin anywhere with you. Yer equipment works fine. Ya see --- I'm the designated decoy!!! :biglaugh:

Thanks Paw for all you do. :) Our's will be different this year also, with the empty chair at the table. :( It makes my family realize the importance of day to day thanks-living. God bless, and happy Thanksgiving Day to all. David

Greasy Tech -- I'm gonna back off a bit here. Is this your child your are speaking of, or the one from the original post??? Either way -- I feel extremely sorry for you (or anyone) who thinks that a 14 year old teen-ager has more rights than the parent. Sorry. I'm *old-school*, and it worked for me and my generation -- so there is no way I can see this as a viable entity. Matter of fact -- IMO, I see this kind of thinking leading us deeper into the deep *doo-doo* (who said that ?? Bush number 41??!!) :D, that is leading this country to Hell in a handbasket.. Kids have human rights --- yes. Bur they need to be in subjection to authority (their parents) as well. If the parent can't lead the kid, they ain't a'gonna be led --- period. And then -- that *work for food* sign might be a very real entity in that kid's life. :( David

I hate the word *appropriate*!!! Either say *good* or *bad*, but don't waffle on yer description, by trying to put it in *PC* terms. Call a spade a spade -- ok?? Either say it is good, or bad (your choice). Personally -- (imo) the young lady learned a lesson, and was none the worse for wear. Psychological abuse doesn't happen this way. Abuse is continued action, and since the mom was there -- ya can't make that call and make it stick. :) if I f##### up like this, I was grounded, lost my allowance for the week (had to to the chores regardless), and no tv for whatever determined amount of time (by my folks). Given a choice, I might have stood out on the street corner too. And The mother in this story (imo) made a good point ---- If the kid wasn't willing to work for grades, they surely weren't going to work for money. *Will work for Food* was a very distinct possibility for her in her future, had her grades been as bad as they could have been. Oh ---@*&$ -- What am I saying??? Even those with college degrees *work for food* ----- But we don't have to stand on street corners, to advertise. :) David

Rascal -- although I was just kidding about your *blinding impact* statement, the rest of the quote struck me pretty forcibly, as did your post about Thurman (even with his disabilities), giving unconditional love and tolerance to all that crossed his path. Plus what you said about twi expecting *perfection* from one and all. I've worked with the disabled for 4 years now, and each day is a new revelation on How Big ----- How Complete ----- (and) How All-Encompassing their love is --- for anyone they meet, for anyone that has problems, for anyone that has a reason to be happy --- They don't expect perfection, but they see it everywhere They see other's problems, and forget their own Every day is a party, regardless of what is happening. I'm thinking Thurman must've been like that, and to be honest ------- I'm jealous! Count me in on being one of the *wanna-bees* too. When I first started working with *my guys* (I hate to admit it, but it's true), I tried to elevate them to my level. Now, the best I can hope for in this life, is for me to elevate myself to their level of Love Kindness Acceptance Forgiveness Etc. Etc. Etc. (ps --- we need more Thurman's in the world) David

How are we supposed to take this!!?? :)

I don't know them, but offer my condolences and prayers for the family. David

Yer welcome!! Btw --- Belle made a good point when she said: It's only proper, fitting (and legally smart) to give credit due to the author if you cite his/her works. ;)

themex -- This Thread talks about lcm's *divorce*. And WordWolf usually has the best info on things about twi. When he says something, you can take it to the bank! He's easy to read, and hard to refute!! :D btw --- welcome to Greasespot!! :) David

I went over to The Timeline, and read it there. A MUCH EASIER READ! :D So the guy is ex-twi, eh?? It shows in some of his descriptions of things, and various sayings he uses. From what I have read (and I'm not done with it yet), he has (so far) done a great job of connecting old and new testament together. I don't see him as a "doomsday prophet", but rather as someone trying to connect the biblical dots found in the days of the various feasts, and their significance today compared to what they meant in biblical times. An example --- I heard some of this same stuff from a messianic outfit I hung out with for a while a coupla years ago. They made the point (and I believe rightly so), that God initiated these feasts for physical Isreal, and would complete them (in finality) for spiritual Isreal. Nothing wrong (imo) in trying to figure out what scripture is saying, and that is what I see happening with the timeline site. So far I haven't seen anything to the contrary. Allan -- thanks for the link to the site! And Revvel --- Welcome to Greasespot! :) David

Oh %$ -- I should have posted THIS POST here instead. :D

Ya might know yer in Minnesota if .... You go to the grocery store in January, and at least 5 cars have engines running and are unlocked, and you do the same; Jumper cables are more necessary than a spare tire; The bigger the shovel in the trunk, the faster you get home; You willingly go 20 mph behind the snowplow, if he's headed yer direction; The cops stop those folks that go slow on icy roads (everyone knows icy roads are safe to drive on at at least 50 mph --- as long as there is not a snow plow in font of you)); And last but not least --- "off-road parking" means you have a garage, and aren't in a ditch somewhere! :)
