The Grand And Glorious Eighth And Tenth Corps Mudfight
dmiller replied to J0nny Ling0's topic in Open
And why is this thread for me?? :) :) To learn how to *sling mud better*?? In case ya missed it JL -- when one banjo-picker tells a joke about another banjo picker --- It's all in fun. Kinda like the *Yo Momma* jokes that one hears in the inner-city. It's more of a contest, to see who can say the most denigrating things, and get the biggest laugh out of it from all involved. :) (and believe me --- those involved are hugely entertained by it!!) And-as-a-matter-of-fact ~~~ when another picker (say -- a mandolinist) starts telling the joke, Against another picker, they get turned on with equal *savagery* ~~~ to the amusement of all. In all honesty ~~~ some of the most fun times I have had at festivals were the joke telling sessions. We all had a good laugh, and then got down to pickin. ;) (Ps ~~~ What's the difference between a banjo picker, and a photograph??? The photograph is developed!!) -
I have an answering machine. I (if I am in the vicinity of my phone), listen to who is calling. If they choose not to leave a message, I don't call back (cause there is no message). Simple as that!! Most of the calls I get (these days) are from telemarketers, and I have no message on my machine. So I just hit *delete*, and get on with life. :)

And ~~~ I have no problem with word based *stuff* around my house. If it came from Jimmy Swaggart, Oral Roberts, or Docvic, if it promoted the Word (over their ministries), I would be glad to have it here, regardless of who promoted the particular *saying*. Personally ~~~ I would love to have a poster saying "POWER FOR ABUNDANT LIVING" and then quoting John 10:10. :) That verse, and the concept were around much longer than docvic, and his know-it-all-attitude. but again ~~~ that is just my IMO. :)

Art for art's sake -- yes I do. :) This is one of the more poignant that I have seen, and it says it all, Although I don't believe that God is *flicking us off* It is an excellent reminder that He has every reason to do so. :(

Ha!! You could really increase your membership, if you went with Maker's Mark Gold!!

If the artwork is good, and it is as you say, I would like it too, but Galen has a better reason than I for getting it. :) I have a clock in my living room with the old Gold and Blue WOW AMBASSADOR logo on it. It looks good regardless of the *negative history* that lies behind the artwork, and I am not ashamed to have it displayed prominently in my living room -- one of the first things one would see, should you visit. And for all of you out there who can't appreciate the offer being made here --- Where the H*** were you in your criticism when Catcup put all her tapes up for sale on e-bay, but mentioned it here first??? HMMMMM? Just because you aren't interested in old way stuff, doesn't mean that there are none here who are. So give it up already. Artwork is artwork. A friend gave me a poster of a pearl in the middle of an oyster shell And the caption underneath reads: BELIEVE IN MIRACLES THEY HAPPEN EACH DAY Her particular religion was/is far different from mine, but the essence of the saying is universal. I had that framed, and it is also in my living room. So if you don't like it -- lump it. :) and Satori -- if I find a shot glass with an eye staring at you from the bottom of the glass, I'll send it your way. If nothing else -- it can be a conversation piece for you.

The Word of God is the Will of God

THE APOCRYPHA -
And that was the point I was trying to make on page one. The knowledge is/has been out there, regardless of docvic. Others with a *proven track record* as far as a "ministry" goes (without falling into the definitiion of a *cult*), have taught something valid and worth hanging onto. To me (imo) -- docvic's ethics were reprehensible. That does not detract from the fact that some of the stuff he taught was right on. It does, however, show to me that he was using it for his own benefit. The fact that he was using it to his own benefit doesn't denegrate the Word, it denigrated the man teaching it. Personally -- after having read other authors on other subjects -- I have radically revised my definition of Interpretation of Tongues, and the meaning of Hell (to name two things). I'm always willing to look at new ideas. Docvic had it all assembled in a neat package, so that made it easier for me (and others) at first. That *neat package* had some holes in it, as I discovered later on, but some of that package had substance (garnered from others), so it wasn't the package that I discarded wholeheartedly. It was the Teacher.

The meal is a great idea. :) One church I attended for a while had a big potluck lunch after service each week. Their service was about 45 minutes long, and lunch was as long as you wanted to hang out. The lunch made it a family affair, and not just *church*.

THIS DAVID REED? (He looks too young to be so wise.) ;)

(Good one!!)

Oh -- and here is an article from TRUTH OR TRADITION (the CES site) that says a lot. I don't know who docvic stole it from, but he got it right when he said the dead are dead. There is no mystery to me about this at all.

These verses??? I have no problem with them, nor do I see a contradiction. When we die -- we die, and the next thing we know is *the great here-after* (whatever that might entail). It will be *immediate* to the person involved, simply because there is no knowledge in death, nor any sense of time passing. I see these verses in the same light. Point A ~~~ person dies Point C ~~~ *judgement day* Point B ~~~ the space of time in between points A and C Personally -- I think this is what the scripture teaches.

Hmmmm. Ok. I'll keep it *family*. :)

I take the Earth Liberation Front clip more seriously than I did that one. :(

I'd say their aim is pretty good --- If they can write messages in the water!!

Hi there Keith. :) Hey -- since you're in Bloomington, do you ever run into the CES crowd at all? Or do you stay away from them? Just curious. David
