I googled music stores in the DFW area, but not knowing where you are as to where they are, it didn't do me much good. Check out the stores near you, and do like socks said -- get hands on examination where you can try it, hear it, ask questions, etc. Plus talking to a salesman (who's willing to help you with info, without trying to make the sale) is a huge benefit that you'll never find on e-bay.

How much were you thinking of spending?? Higher quality acoustic guitars can be expensive. But it's worth it to get a better one first. It's easier to play, it sounds better, and if you decide you don't want to continue --- it is MUCH easier to sell a bettter instrument than it is a cheap one. Figure out your price range, then go looking for what is *available* within that range. Personally -- I like Martin, but there are many good acoustics out there (these days). :)

"The 2005 North American Wife Carrying Championship took place October 8th right here at Sunday River. Teams competee for a grand prize of the wife's weight in Redhook beer and five times the wife's weight in cash, plus a chance to compete in the World Championships in Finland. This year's winners were Ehrin and April Armstrong of Brighton, Massachusetts." hmmmm!

When I had that bug, this used to be the *bible* for it. (the one phrase I remember from it most is) FRONT IS FRONT!!

Reminds me of the saying: "IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY I DRIVE, GET OFF OF THE SIDEWALK."

Aww --- Wacky --- that was a pic I *dogpiled*. Actually -- mine was the same color too, though it had an Indiana plate on it. My 66 bug made the fatal mistake of something in the steering break, as I was going around a curve about 30 miles from home, and when I hit the brakes, and with no steering, it did a coupla 360's in the road, and then I was in the ditch, which added enough friction to the car, that it overturned 2 times (no -- I wasn't wearing a seat belt), and came to rest on it's wheels. Me -- I was dazed (to say the least) and thought I could drive home, after resting for a moment or two. Some other folks behind me pulled over, called an ambulance, and told me there was no way I could drive home. I was transported to the hospital with a back brace, and once there, found out I had badly bruised ribs (no wonder it seemed like such a huge chore to breathe!) Got a chance to see the old bug one last time afterwards -- and it had 3 flat tires, smashed windshield, crumpled top -- but what saved me was the driver side door. The door flew open somewhere during all of this, and absorbed all the shock of the roll-over (both times). Don't anyone tell me there isn't a God out there watching. He has certainly been watching out over me ---- Now -- if I could just figure out why, and for what reason. Just count me as *thankful*. :)

Maureen -- (not meaning to be arguementative), but please, where is the chapter and verse for this. Thanks. :) -
Well, it's good to consider your parents, and honor them. :) I talked with docvic one time, and one time only, but I still remember it. I don't remember what *event* it was at ---- Might of been at a Heartbeat Festival, or pfal 77, but I was walking along (after leaving the teaching), and I heard docvic (behind me) say: "Hey --- what is that on your belt?" At that time -- I had a swiss army knife in a leather case on my belt, and since I heard him speak, I turned around. He was talking to me, and I pulled the knife out, and showed it to him. He looked it over, and we talked of *one knife* with *various manifestations*. Now I am not claiming he got the *swiss army knife* analogy from me (that he taught in the AC class in 79), but I am willing to bet I had something to do with it. :) Now ---- I knew the guy too, and at the time he seemed like a decent person. Decent is, as decent does. Docvic (imho) never learned that. Honoring your parents is one thing. Hanging on to a mistake is something totally different.

I used to have one of these --- a 1966 bug. :) It was 6 volt, and I remember going to Radio Shack to get an adapter so I could install a tape player!

djs --- great post with honest questions, and they deserve an honest answer. :) I (for one) can not answer you about the current leaders, except to mention that I am familiar with Rosie, since she was around in my time period (1975 - 1986). Tom is right -- the past is important to know about. One can glean MUCH from what happened in the history of twi, apply it to today, and come away with a fairly accurate *reading* of how things are run, what their intentions are, what they hope to accomplish, and on and on and on. I got out in 86, or 87 --- when the *big bomb dropped*. The *big bomb* to me was all the sexual crap that I suddenly heard about, and had no prior knowledge of. At first, I was willing to dismiss it too, but I heard too many folks (from leaders on down), talking about it as factual, and that left me scratching my head, wondering where the heck I had been, that I never heard of this stuff. Hey --- I was just *joe believer* out in *timbucktu*, over 1,000 miles from New Knoxville with NO KNOWLEDGE that any of this stuff was going on. Even though I left in the mid to latter 80's, I went back (for a short stint) in the mid 90's when lcm was propounding all the garbage full force. Seriously -- I went back to *twig* for teaching, learning, and fellowship, and got a facefull of confrontation instead. Needless to say -- it did not please me. If I wasn't being confronted, it was someone else, and also needless to say -- there was NO teaching, learning, or fellowship. Now -- back to Rosie. She was there when all of this happened. She was a *yes* person from the git-go. Whether or not she knew of all that was going on (back then), is something I can not say for sure, but given the odds, I would bet she knew full well. And given the way that twi has been run since docvic passed, I would also hazard a guess that nothing has changed, even now. Now --- I admit I haven't kept up on the intricacies of twi, but the many new posters here, tell the story in detail, and pull no punches. Every last thing they have said, reverberates *old wineskins*. In other words --- THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME. IMHO --- twi is operating the NEW manifestation known as *damage control* (these days), to protect their precious tax-exempt status. You have to decide for yourself if you are in, or out. But take a good hard look at the past, and see if you don't see it in the current leadership. Everything I have read posted by those getting out (these days), tells me NOTHING has changed (in reality), while the *spiel* from hdqtrs has become *pc*, so as to spin a new twist, to what they have always done -- and will continue to do. What say ye?

(Well --- meebe not!) Thanks for the compliment, Rascal. :) May I say, that one thing I have learned in life (for a guaron-dammmnd-Teed fact) is : I'm not always as *right* as I think I am. With that being said, I have found it MUCH BETTER IN LIFE: To sit at the foot of the table, and be invited forward, rather than sit at the top, and be *demoted*. In all categories of life, not just GSC. Thanks for inviting me forward. :) I've a long way to go to achieve my goal of meekness and humbleness, but I figured sitting at the foot of the table, was a good place to start. ;) (Oh --- and a PS here -------------------- ) I'm NOT a twi supporter by any stretch of the imagination. Although I believe some of what they taught, it's some of the teachings I support (endorse), not the org.
