    Chain Gangs

Likeaneagle -- thank you for the kind response!. :) But (uh-oh --- here it comes!!) I have a question (if I may?) :) Seriously -- don't you think that seeing a *gang* out on the highway might help (in some small way) in deterring kids from doing *wrong*, if they see that?? I dunno. Just curious. Or as Song used to say --- *Just a thot*.
  2. The *sexiest* lady I ever knew was Petite Shoulder length brown hair Quiet/ but vocal at times Introspective/ yet assertive when needed Knew when to talk, and when to listen Willing to put up with my music *habit* Willing to sit in the audience and socialize Picked some music herself Found fun in ALL of life's uncertainties. Enthusiastic about getting out doors, and doing something but sitting at home was ok too. She told me she wasn't looking for committment/ marriage. I believed her -- I shouldn't have. She is now married to someone else. Physical qualities are *eye candy* (nice, but not necessary). Real folks like this, are hard to find.

    Chain Gangs

Hiya Likeaneagle. :) Hope my earlier comments weren't too callous. You say you think it is a *fragile* thing, and I've got mixed opinions as well. One side of me says keep them in a cell, with no privilidges/ no tv/ etc. The other side says *make them work* there at the prison. (But a jailor friend of mine here in town tells me that that isn't really much of an option (these days). And another side of me says -- get them out in the community, and do something profitable. And if you get folks outside of the prison walls to do community work (regardless of how insignificant that *work* may be), they are outside the walls, and meebe a rifle is needed to remind them that they are outside by *grace*. Interestingly enough -- yesterday's paper here in Duluth did an article about an 89 year old lady who is a prolific painter. She was married to a sheriff in another county near here, and their *house* was an apartment connected to the jail. I forget how many years she and he lived there -------. But when the interview digressed from her painting, to her life before (living in such close proximity to all those criminals), she did say that every last prisoner was eager to get out, breathe some fresh air, see the sun and trees, regardless of the *stigma* of being on a chain gang. She never mentioned rifles, nor she did say how *hardened* they were. But she did say that they all liked getting out, even if briefly. Maybe that isn't the situation where you are. Maybe some of the folks on the gang there felt humiliated to be in the public view in that situation, wearing prison stripes and all. But I still think it a positive step. It amazes me to hear what it costs to feed and house one person in jail. Let them *earn* back a bit of that if they can. Well -- that's my IMO. I hope it makes sense to you.

Since prisoners aren't *stamping out license plates* (these days), they should do something to *earn* the room and board that they are receiving, from actions they chose to do. And those in NC should be glad they are not under the jurisdiction of Sheriff Arpaio.

Ask the jerk if he has a head on his shoulders, or if that is just his neck blowing bubbles.
  10. As in ----------->>> he got himself into Dire Staits now!?!?
  11. Hey Ron --- thanks!! :) Looks like Jimmy's *birthday bash* ia already over. The Jerusalem Ridge thing in Rosine, KY looks good, but then that there is all about Father Bill, and not Jimmy. (Sure wish I had more time off to go to these things!)
  12. Welcome to GreaseSpot, Connerron.:) I guess that little point wasn't considered by the BOT (or whatever they're called now), or else perhaps they thought themselves *above it all*, eh? Meebe *mark and avoid* was their way of showing *luv*, instead of hurting so many folks the way they did. Too bad they didn't think of that verse, instead of wreaking havoc with *the body*. <_<

Just looked over the Henderson/ Audubon site, and they have only six cabins. That may not work either. :(

  17. Countess -- welcome to GreaseSpot. Pull up a chair. :) From my perspective (IMO) -- there is respect for others in the *doctinal dungeon*. It isn't anywhere near as bad, or intense, as some claim it to be. ;) Flaming happens, but less so than in other forums here. Buncha folks there (in doctrinal) who have done their *homework*, and post it. Others make comments (pro, con, whatever) and conversation can be *lively* at times, but it is usually done with respect for the other person, even if disagreement is involved. I can think of 5 or 6 posters, who would cry *FOUL*!!, but most would give you the time of day, and thank you for what you had to say. :) Docvic didn't have it all right, and (most) of us here know that. Looking forward to hear what you have to say. You've always been quite level-headed in the past, Eagle. I'm thinking you haven't changed. I forget who said it -- but the saying comes to mind --- "Sometimes stirring the soup in a different direction, gives it added flavor".

    Weenie Roast 2006

http://www.hendersonky.org/bluegrass Good link! My vote would be for Henderson. (No surprise there, eh?) :D That would be about an 800 mile drive for me, and easier for Abi and Sushi too. Further for the Florida folks, though. And I've heard several of the bands on the schedule for the festival there. Quality, family entertainment -- and for free??!! Cain't be beat -- when ya combine it with a Weenie Roast!

True confessions -- from a Bluegrass fiddler: OK -- I admit it -- I like rock and roll too! :D Have heard of SRV, (and probably have heard his stuff), but I wouldn't recognize it. Any suggestions for a CD or two of his that I could buy?? Y'all have me curious about him now. :)
