  1. I wuz wondering how this got bumped up (bttt), from two years ago. ;)

    Baby Got Book

Shucks -- it might of fit in Doctrinal as well.
  3. Thanks for the clarification, Cynic. I was thinking *these days*. I had forgotten about that. :)
  4. I could be wrong, Garth -- but I think it's Mark G. instead of John S. Mark G. (I know) has been going to Earlam (sp?) for an advanced degree.
  5. I know. Sorry if it sounded like I was accusing you. I wasn't. ;)
  6. Mark -- good questions. Valid even. ;) John Schoenheit was an atheist, turned believer. I don't know if he had the *schooling* from twi, or if he picked up on it on his own. I suspect the latter. I've heard his story, but am fuzzy on the details, so I'll refrain from comment. Daniel McConaughy was in charge of the WCE research department. He holds a Ph.D from the University of Chicago, specializing in Syriac, Greek, and early Church history. :)
  7. John S. was booted for writing a paper condemning adultery -- plain and simple. You can find it HERE. He did not mishandle the Word, distort it, or bend it to suit his *fancies* as docvic did. He was fired because he threatened the *big boys'* playground (if you will). Sorry -- back to topic.
  8. John Schoenheit immediately comes to mind. No one knew the Old Testament better than he did. (my IMO).

    Texas

Found this on priceline.com -- Duluth, MN (DLH) → Houston, TX (IAH) 1 Stop Connects in Minneapolis, MN (MSP) Departing ··· Friday, Nov 3 at 5:25am Arriving ··· Friday, Nov 3 at 10:10am Trip Duration ··· 4h 45m The cheapest airfare cost (round trip ticket) is 590 bucks. With the new restrictions on liquids, I wouldn't be able to pack a thermos of coffee! The car gets 30 + mpg, and at 1381 (+) miles, that's about 46 gallons needed one way. At $3.00 per gallon (thereabouts), it would cost around $138.00 one way, $276.00 both ways. I'm thinking $300.00 tops -- but am leaving room for higher prices. The main attraction to the flying -- is the amount of time involved. But -- I don't like flying, and I do love driving and seeing the countryside. (Any countryside there in Texas worth seeing??) So -- it would cost me 1/2 as much to drive, though spending more time traveling. Plus the wear and tear on the mobile, but then again it wasn't made to be parked. :) 20 hours of driving is really nothing (to me), and even if prices were $3.50 per, that would be $161.00 one way, and cheaper than flying (which I hate to do anyway). But thanks for the suggestion!

Hmmmm. Tis tempting. If I did come, I could bring some Lutefisk. But I garown-dang-tee ya, I would NEVER be invited back if I did! From Mapquest ~~~ Total Est. Time: 20 hours, 48 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1381.33 miles

  15. Ya know -- this bugs me -- it really does. Just one more nail in the twi coffin - (that part doesn't bug me), but the fact that no one can act on their own to make things *easier for the family*, to do some simple task that will *bless the believers present*, something as simple as moving a table so that folks can get their dinner just a mite quicker -- has to be run through *leader-sh!t* first. If anything -- (given this *testimony*), today's twi has its head up their butt, as always -- probably searching for *Present Truth*. Common sense isn't in their vocabulary. With their head *in the dark*, it takes *newbies* at their fellowships to offer suggestions that facilitate an even flow for the folks there. SFSailor -- good job on seeing what they couldn't. You made the right decision -- bailing out. :) You weren't one of these ---
  16. YO HO HO, AND A BOTTLE OF RUM!! Welcome to GreaseSpot SFSailor. :) (More *spirit* there in the bottle, than in the fellowship, eh???)
  17. Here's one for you, Krys!!!
  18. Abi -- dang!! Yer right!! Hit home here.. Where do they get this stuff???
  19. What a hoot! Martin Luther King III, Johnny Carson, Gummo Marx, Pele, Adlai Stevenson, Dwight Yoakam, "Weird" Al Yankovic and I all have the same birthday! It says I'm a 5 and get along with 1, 5, 7 *life path folks*. Hmmmmmm -- them's spurchal numbers there -- I'd best pay attention! ;)
  20. No -- it's not NEEDED. It's kind of like preventive maintenence (if you will). Internal combustion engines (ie. -- your car), runs best on gasoline rather than water that finds it's way into your gas tank. I do this *religiously* in the winter time, but I see (now), that is it is beneficial year round. :)
  21. I guess I'm a mite confused about this one myself. Docvic never did say you HAVE to speak in tongues to be born again. What he said about it was, *It is outward proof in the senses realm, of the internal reality of the spirit*. Belle -- maybe this was before your time in twi --- but I remember docvic saying he water baptized some folks who asked him to. He said he didn't like it, saw no need for it, but did it anyway, since it helped their *believing*. Perhaps he lied -- I don't know, but he claims he did it, regardless of his teachings on the subject. So -- even he agreed to something he taught differently about. (no surprise -- eh??) Where does the *You have to speak in tongues to be *saved* come from*?? As much as I don't care for docvic -- I never remember hearing him say that. It certainly was not twi doctrine -- at least not the doctrine from pfal. SIT is real to me. I know MANY folks who have never done it, and they are *Christian* in every sense of the word --- (love thy neighbor, etc.) I've never heard that (you have to SIT), except here. Meebe that was an lcm thing?? I don't know.
