Sure!! That's right. It's actually a Yooper word from da UP, eh?? used in a sentence --- "Vegan do dis yer way, or vegan do dis MY way!)

Heartman --- welcome to GreaseSpot. :) Yes it does. -- it's Ephesians 6:18. Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Prayer (by it's very definition) means TO ASK. Praying (proseuchomai) always with all prayer (proseuche) and supplication (deesis) in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication (deesis) for all saints; 3 different words used for it. One verb, 2 nouns. proseuchomai is praying to God; proseuche is prayer to God, recognizing His power to answer; and deesis is petition for a specific need. (definitions from Bullinger)

Suicide -- too bad. :( Damn!! Yea -- (In answer to your question) --- He was setting the tempo, at which they would sing. So he and Jerry are both gone, eh? :( :( Thought about the crowd roaring -- when Jerry was introduced, and then Bob. and then Vince --- And then as *San Francisco's own* Grateful Dead What a history they had..

Hap -- I hear ya. I had a radical change to my diet when I started working at the group home with two of *my guys* who have PRADAR WILLIE SYNDROME. Well it wasn't *radical* I guess, since I (as an old hippy), have always tried to *eat right*, but seeing life from THEIR perspective -- got me to thinking a mite more. It's not so much WHAT they eat -- but the portions. Both Larry and Jeff were at 400 plus pounds, and each of them are 5'2" tall. Granted -- PWS is a genetic disease, and they both suffer from it, yet the guidlines they have to follow as concerns diet, benefit all (not just them)-- and they are now both at 135 pounds. Granted this is 15 years later, and with exercise included (walking 30 minutes a day -- 4 times a week) So -- While I can *applaud* vegans for sticking by their guns, I also applaud those who do a *sensible diet* eating starch, vegetables, and protein -- regardless of what it may contain. :)

Warren --- thanks. That was an honest reply. :)

Well -- me in my ignorance saw that as one. Even though you did advocate moderation, you made the statement and then let it hang there as fact, without offering any evidence or proof. I've nothing against you at all Allan, nothing. You're welcome to your opinion (as we all are). But -- when a thread is addressed to someone who knows details about the subject being discussed, and questions are asked to that person about specifics concerning their beliefs, it's generally considered polite to let the person answer, without total refutation of what they believe. Like I said (with my *in-depth perception*) ;) debate and questions are good. Everyone learns from them -- but confrontations cause division --- and soon the thread becomes a *name-calling session*. That's all I meant by that. Me -- I'm curious about the lifestyle. I am not interested in the pros and cons of it found in the daily newspaper. This thread is not about whether it is right or wrong, beneficial or destructive --- It's all about info -- hearing what someone has to say who *practices what they preach*.
-
Well -- I won't be the one pulling the plug by making tasteless, derogatory comments and accusations. :( I started this thread in the same spirit of learning that Mark O'Malley did with Templelady when he wanted to know about the precepts of Mormonism. Hearing VeganXTC talk of her lifestyle, made me curious, so I asked. Why google the internet, when you can *google* GreaseSpot?? Like I say -- it's not for me -- but far be it from me to forbid others from doing what they think is right. This day and time -- with all the synthetics for clothing, the greater selection of food choices from Whole Foods Co-ops, more *awareness* in the major chain grocery stores, etc. etc., I can see how being a Vegan would be easier now than it was a century ago -- and that was part of what fueled my curiousity about the *old days* since wool, goose down, milk, meat, cheese, eggs, etc., were all in use a lot. So Allan -- if you have constructive comments to make -- please do so. :) If you want to flame and accuse -- JWO is the place for you. <_< I'm asking someone who can make a contribution to the question at hand. Debate and questions are both good and wholesome. So far -- VeganXTC's diet/ beliefs have more good and are more wholesome than your posts, on this thread.

So does leather and wool. :)
-
Had to *saddle up and say* ---
-
so -- when did *veganism* start, and how did your beliefs *survive*, before the invention of synthetic material?? Wool, and leather especially -- for clothing -- though I do see how you could circumvent the food thing. Tennis shoes are geat -- (I like New Balance myself), but they weren't always around, like leather has been for sturdy work boots. Is veganism a *new thing*?? I can't relate -- but am willing to listen. :)

It's nice to see a bunch of scientists could take time off from calibrating spacecraft instruments, and go to the inner city there near Goddard to do black body radtion social work. :) (uhmm -- what's radtion? And did you work exclusively with African-Americans, or did you reach out to empower the community as a whole?) And spacecraft instruments -- what musical instruments do they allow on spacecraft?? Could you calibrate my fiddle or banjo for me?? Guitar pickers must love it up there -- drop a pick, it floats right back to your hand!! And I can do a really mean version of *The devil space-walked to Pluto, looking for a planet to steal*. (With a properly calibrated *space-fiddle* that is). Hey -- congrats on this important day for you. Too bad you didn't share the award with him. :)
-
You're right about the *inter-twining* of instruments from one style to another. :) I never meant any harm by it. So if I *profile* a musical style -- it's for my benefit --- that way I can remember who I am talking about. ;) (Ps -- Papa John Creach (Jefferson Airplane, Starship, and Hot Tuna), was another.)

I-90 and I-94 west seem to be the fastest way to get to Washington state..

Headed for the cities?? That's where you think they'd go. Isn't 63 over by Rochester?? Meebe they read Mstar's thread on scenic highways -- and decided to take the THE RIVER ROAD to Mpls/St. Paul!

I hope they stay away from Duluth!

THE has awakened from slumber, and shakes off dust, in preparation for THE Texas BBQ. Where he will be THE judge of the cheesecake bake-off!

Amen Dot -- good point. HOWEVER it seems to me they are covering their @$$e$, and ((COUGHH!!!)) copyrighting stuff stolen years ago, from legitimate scholars who loved God enough to basically *toss this out for free* for those who hungered, and thirsted. Sure -- it's a new *format* -- yada yada -- but now they *own it*. They can have it. Won't find me copying and pasting off THAT site.
