Typical celebrity, WhiteDove. Just like the Kennedy's and their *compound*, in Hyannisport (sp?), solidly ensconced proclaiming *environmental values* for the rest of the country (masses -- if you will), yet TOTALLY AGAINST windmills -- *in their back yard*. Unsightly monstrosities. Ruins the view of the ocean. Those bozos will think up a dozen excuses to pardon themselves --- but will put the whip to the back of the commoner -- such as you and I. EJ is NO different. He (meebe she -- what way does that (cough!) person swing???) feels miffed and outraged by discrimination, yet -- as you pointed out -- He (she/it) demands respect for his (her/it's) lifestyle unconditionally. Like I said -- I have NO use for whiners. Not rich ones, famous ones, poor ones, or just messed up ones. Seems the rich and famous are the worst of the crowd. Stepping off my soap box now.

Elton john aside, and organized religion aside. WhiteDove is right -- EJ can dish it out, but he can't take it. :) Mebbe he needs to take some of the ivories off his keyboard, and make a new suit for himself -- one that is impervious to pokes and jabs. Someone tell him -- *As ye give, so shall ye receive.* I have NO sympathy for whiners.

Thumbing through the books I have here -- MOST credit is given to quotes from the Way magazine, and articles found there-in. Go figure.

Shellon (and all others here) --- Here's a tip to posting live links here at GSCafe. I've found links don't link, with just the www in front of the name of the website. but -- if you add the http:// in front of the www ---they show up as a live link. Makes it easier for folks to click, rather than copy and paste into the bar up above. :)

Quoted entirely from Pat's Path of Christ Ministry site ----- "For many people, the following thesis will seem foreign to our current or former mind set that we grew up with in regards to spiritual nourishment and growth. Many believers have grown up with little exposure to teachers of God’s Word outside of the sphere of the particular group or denomination that we fellowship with. This is sometimes due to lack of searching because of an elitist attitude, and other times due to ignorance. Many of us who have in the past limited ourselves to a particular group, did so due to an elitist attitude that there couldn’t be anyone as knowledgeable as _______ group so why waste our time with groups that don’t have the rightly divided word and other such contrivances. This elitist attitude has for many caused them to miss out on a great amount of wonderful learning because of our preconceived prejudices. "For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel." 1 Cor. 4:15 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" Eph.4:11 The following verses talk about having a great many instructors in Christ and teachers , yet how many of us have limited ourselves to just a few groups or even just one for our spiritual nourishment. Obviously, the teachings to stay within a certain group for knowledge doesn’t fly because which group could corner the market on all the teachers and instructors. Of course this can be abused and so you never set down roots with a group of believers and build a work together because you are going everywhere to learn... What then is the practical answer? The answer is that you do set down roots and build a work with a group of believers, but always keep your eyes open for neat stuff to bring home to your table and also to share with the fellowship. I would like to illustrate this with the following vision I had of the body of Christ: We have all been invited to a fabulous banquet to end all banquets by Jesus Christ who is our host and tour guide so to speak of the banquet his father God has put on. There are so many tables of foods from so many caterers and ethnic backgrounds, that it dizzies the mind by the magnitude of choices. Our tour guide of the banquet Jesus, as he shows our fellowship around, occasionally makes a remark about certain dishes being better left alone, while others being very heartily recommended. After we are seated however, we are faced with a problem. We had never tried or even known about food other than apples, and we are not sure about that filet mignon and prime rib that one caterer had, or the_______ that another had. We had done alright on the apples although we didn’t always feel so good, so why change? And even though Jesus did recommend some dishes highly, should we take a chance with something that was unknown to us? What shall we do?? Then the Lord spoke to my heart and brought the following verse to mind: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". Proverbs 3:5 & 6 Oh, that’s right, I have holy spirit and can talk to the tour guide and ask about something anytime. Wow! Freedom !! No fear about going outside the nine dots or varieties of apples. And you know that filet mignon sure did look pretty good...... I at one time as many of you lived perhaps only on the diet of apples or maybe grapes of a particular religious group. Sometimes this was due to ignorance, or as many of us had fallen prey to spiritual elitism. The group we used to belong to said perhaps that they were the only group that had the "rightly divided word" or some other nonsense about only their group was going to heaven, K-Mart or whatever. The fact is, is that no group owns the "rightly divided word" as it is not an object that one posesses, but an action that we as individuals do when reading the scriptures. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". 2 Tim.2:15 There are many wonderful teachers and instructors of God’s Word, and to be healthy spiritually, a balanced diet of many varieties of food is necessary. Just as your physical body is not made to live off of one type of food, so our spiritual bodies as well. As you explore the banquet that God and Jesus have put on for you, remember to ask questions and heed the admonition of the following verses: "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good".1 Thes. 5:21 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Acts 17:11 And as you enjoy the bounty set in front of you, remember to thank the host........".[/color]

Hap -- I agree. LikeAnEagle was tactful. But I also agree with LG (in theory), because a lotta folks are NOT. I've heard many activists on the *veteran bandwagon*, claiming to be veterans (cough!!!) of spousal abuse, discrimination, bad parenting, etc. -- and claiming their *war* was just as significant, and then demanding equal recognition that the Military Vets receive. Nuts to them. Opportunistic whiners -- the bunch of them. Or as Michael Savage would say --- Red Diaper Doper Babies. Certainly we're all veterans of something, but NOT to the degree that Military Veterans are recognized for. LikeAnEagle -- I didn't see those *demands* in your post. Seemed like your's was more of a *heart* issue -- rather than recognition. :) LG -- I'm with you in keeping the Military Veteran's honor pure. Red Diaper Doper Babies live freely, because of our Vets -- current and past. I have no use for whiners either.

Billy Graham was returning to Charlotte after a speaking engagement. When his plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home in Montreat. As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver. "You know" he said, "I am 87 years old and I have never driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?" The driver said, "No problem. Have at it." "Billy gets into the driver's seat and they head off down the highway. A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap. The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone. The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo and got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure. The young trooper walked up to the driver's door and when the glass was rolled down he was surprised to see who was driving. He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor. He told the supervisor, "I know we are supposed to enforce the law but I also know that important people are sometimes given certain courtesies. I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person." "The supervisor asked, "Is it the governor?" The young trooper said, "No, he's more important than that." The supervisor said, "Oh, so it's the president." The young trooper said, "Not, he's even more important than that." The supervisor finally asked, "Well then, who is it?" The young trooper said, "I think it's Jesus because he's got Billy Graham for a chauffeur !!!!!

The link got moved, and I can't find it either. I tried the test earlier today, but had to go to work so I logged off, thinking to do it over again, when I got home. Got done with work -- came home, logged into the site --- and got a whole lot of NOTHING! (Hopefully it'll be up soon. It was interesting.) ;)

DrtyDzn and Vegan -- I can respect your sentiments. Honestly -- I do. However -- they don't/ can't work (practically). According to the DNR here in Minney-soda (as of Nov. 3rd, 2006), there are 1.3 million deer here in the state. It isn't feasible to trap, neuter, and release, when you're dealing with that number of deer population. While that is a noble thought, these are NOT cats and dogs, that can easily be taken to the local vet for neutering. I don't hunt or fish, but I see the reality of over-population, and the need to regulate it (on human terms).

Guitar is the *jumping off point* for many. :) Some (like myself), learn guitar first, and then find other *instrumental loves*. Some (UNLIKE myself), stick with guitar only, and become proficient at it!!
