    music downloads

Musicians often put their stuff up for free copying. Sometimes snippets of songs, sometimes the whole thing. If it is labeled *free to use*, there is no copyright infringement. They are putting it out there for public use, and expect it to be used as such. I'll agree with you about the copyrighted stuff, that is NOT labeled *free to use*. Some of my fiddle tunes have been recorded by other groups. I gave them permission to do whatever they wanted with them. Since I gave them permission, if they choose to put them out there as *free to use*, I can't (and won't) complain. But -- that's just my perspective on the subject. ;)
  2. Chas --- the links there don't work. :( :( :(
  3. Top --- Hey -- Bill Clinton needed an exercise program, so he decided to jog daily. His route took him right past a corner where a hooker stood every day. Whenever he ran by -- he would pause and ask -- "How much?" She replied $50 dollars. Bill said "I'd give you five", and kept on running. This happened on a daily basis for a while, and then one day Hillary decided to join Bill on the run. Bill (to himself) is thinking "I hope that hooker isn't there today". So he and Hillary go jogging, and sure enough, there's the hooker ahead of them at the corner. Bill is dreading running past her with Hillary at his side, hoping she wouldn't say anything --- but the hooker just laughed as he went on by saying: "See what 5 bucks will get ya??!!" :P :P
  4. If I recollect correct -- yes. I seem to remember hearing him (JAL) say once that his books belonged to twi, and he couldn't sell them on his own since twi had the copyright, and not him.

Ala -- fidola. Now there's a new one for me!! 5 string violins (while not uncommon) aren't found too often, but they've been around for a while. 5 string fiddles have the 5th string (which is tuned to a C note), like the bottom string of a viola. So now -- the bottom 4 strings of the 5 string fiddle are C G D A - same tuning as a viola. The difference here is the size of the body of the instrument. Viola's are larger than violins, so I'm guessing the 5 string viola (having the C G D A E strings --- the same as a 5 string violin), would have a more rich, resonant tone than a 5 string fiddle would. HERE IS A SITE that has Dahlia 5 string fiddles for sale. These guys also make the Eminence bass (4 or 5 string), with a removeable neck. They have EXCELLENT instruments. Top shelf -- both in playability, and in sound.

Hey Socks -- If you get the serial number off of that lap steel, Gibson has a site where you can find out the year it was made. It sounds like a neat old instrument. How many strings does it have on it??
  7. Hmmmm. Yea -- the color of the nametag ---- I went for the *Gold* University of Life nametag, not the green corps one. In my application for *the Gold* -- I was asked why I couldn't go corps. I told them I didn't want to, and guess what?? I got accepted immediately. I was never asked to explain -- my reason was accepted without question. Just think -- I got to hear all the *abundance* of Way Corps teaching in my own house, without the regime of the Corps and the legalistic crap, while drinking a beverage of my choice during the teaching session -- played at MY convinience. No wonder U of L got discontinued -- WAY too much freedom there. We were never *under the thumb* like (what I hear) corps were. And btw -- I am being (somewhat) facetious here. It isn't the color of the nametag --- It's the amount of the commitment in the heart underneath the name tag that counts. Anyone who has gone wow 2, 3, or 4 times gets my respect -- regardless of the color of their nametag.

  12. Ahhhhh!!! Mea culpa! I'm spurtually derelict. :( I failed to recognize the *many*, vs. the *all*. (Is that *many* with distinction? --- or *many* without exception??)

Guess we'll have to watch out, when you string us along. ;)
  15. Yes -- coercion and intimidation ABSOLUTELY attain that end. Twi has mastered those two tactics really well (practice makes perfect). Whom are your friends seeking to please now?? God? Or the Org?? You can bet your bottom dollar that God isn't holding a whip. But twi is doing so, thus forcing allegiance to them instead --- and all in the name of *the household*. (But what else is new?) Roadkill -- good analogy.
  16. Hey there Oak. I'm with WhiteDove on this one. Certainly with some leaders leaving and many others leaving at the same time would provide a catalyst of sorts for some -- but that wasn't true in my case. Living so far from headquarters, I never knew about all the *goings on* there. The foul wind blowing from New Knoxville finally wafted it's stench up here, and the general (believer) reaction was one of shock, and disbelief. Some folks decided to stick it out, and others like myself packed our bags and walked. I personally found out about the mass exodus, AFTER I left. The sexual improprieties were *condamning* enough in themselves, but they also *clicked* a few other things I had wondered about. I can't speak to the 2000 exodus, since I wasn't there for that one. But in 86 - 87 I think a lot of folks felt just like I did --- BETRAYED. I didn't need others (or leaders leaving), to make my decision.
  17. "Hello, is this the FBI?" "Yes. What do you want?" "I'm calling to report about a guy I know, Ron G. - he's hidin' marijuana inside his firewood." "Thank you very much for the call, sir." The next day, the FBI agents descend on Ron's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept, and bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. That night, the phone rings at Ron's house. "Hey, Ron! Did the FBI come?" "Yeah!" "Did they chop your firewood?" "Yep." "Happy Birthday!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Should I give them a call? Or is your firewood all done by now?)

    Black Friday

Hmmmmm. To pole dance, or not to pole dance? What a dilemma!
  19. I looked for (and found) THE VIDEO of it all. It was pretty bad, but (sadly) the same scene happens all too frequently in every day life. :( It turned into a shouting match that shouldn't have happened. The main difference here is he was on stage and had the microphone. While I don't think it a *sue-able* offense, I would hope that no one would patronize his shows from here on in. That should send an effective message to his wallet (and conscience) as well.

    ! Update

Great to hear! :) (Hey -- can you introduce me to your *unexpected sources*?? ;)
  21. YIdon't -- You have OBVIOUSLY NOT read ROY'S STORY. A snippet of it here for your perusal --- from the above link: Please read it all, before you comment further, eh?? Peace, Love, and Bluegrass. David
  22. All the best to you, Paw. :) :) :)
  23. What's so hard about that, eh???? If you're lost, admit it and ask. I have NEVER had a problem asking for directions. I want to get to where I am going. But then again -- I used to drive deliveries for a living, and time was money. So my personal preference for asking "Which way do I need to go?", morphed into the *professional* aspect of driving, which meant my paycheck. I just got off of a 1,600 mile road trip, and was lost once. I didn't drive in circles. I asked the first person I saw if they knew how to get to *such and such* a place. They knew, and I didn't. No problem. I asked, and was on my way. I got to where I wanted to go with no bruised ego because of the asking. I hear truck drivers on the CB radio all the time asking for directions. It must be a manly thing to do so over the CB, but not in the confines of the car, with your wife and kids on a trip to Disney world.. Maybe it's the company in the vehicle that make the difference. Scenario One: (with the wife and kids); "Don't worry honey -- I know exactly where we are". and we'll get to that amusement park, and the kids'll be happy in no time flat, and we'll be lounging poolside before you know it" Versus Scenario Two: (5 guys headed to a football game); "Hey guys -- I KNOW where I'm going. Shut up, and let me drive." Do you think scenario two would be accepted by the male participants?? Not hardly. They want to get to the game. Asking (in this case), is perfectly acceptable, cause the guys want to get to the game. So the *asking* is in the details. Men -- if yer lost, admit it, and ask for directions. IT JUST FEELS GOOD to get to where you want to go.:)
  24. I agree. :) To trust, or to *believe in God's ability to do* is one thing. To manipulate by mental gymnastics is something else entirely.
