My chemistry lab partner at college was one Don Hock. He introduced me to the Jesus freak group I was in before twi. Coupla years after I met him and the group -- he married a woman named Maggie. Their first child was a daughter --- and they named her --- Holly. (Nice pics Likeaneagle. :) I don't think those grow up here).

Potato--John was quoting Dooj, when he posted this-- -
And his source of info was --------------?????

Well Pond -- You're entitled to your opinions. By the way --I notice your spelling and syntax are both a bit off tonight. Are you drinking while posting?? And -- no one (alcoholics -- myself included) is looking for sympathy. I don't know what hat you pulled that statement out of, but it sucks. Big time. It's an accomplishment to NOT engage in previous detrimental behavior. Too bad you can't accept that. Everything you are saying is invalidated by your bad attitude towards those who are looking for recovery, and finding it. In other words -- You haven't got a clue, about which you are speaking of. I found this pic on the internet. Try to be better than this ---please.

Hey!! Congrats! And -- if you have a Mac keyboard, there are two USB ports at the top of it -- one on the right side, and one on the left, and easy to plug into. (but maybe you knew that already?) Speakers -- I hear that! :( I've got one of those old G3 thing-ama-bobs too. (here's a pic of it from online --- but identical in looks to mine). A dinosaur for sure -- but has a Panther 10.3.9 OS. I see Mac is coming out with a Leapord OS, that is *one up* on Tiger. I envy you and your new *toy*!! ;) -
Dave, Really? Do tell? ... Then please explain to me why you're still discussing, hmmmm? Or aren't you aware of your fingers typing on the keyboard when you respond? <_< But in all seriousness Dave, arguments like that are comparable to a little kid blurting out "So you think that your daddy is better than my daddy!" Yes, that is how I see it. Believe it or not, there is *nowhere* in any of my posts where I am saying that there is no discussion available or allowed, and when you get off your high horse, ... you know it. This is an open forum, and nobody is prohibiting you from responding. (remember your fingers typing away on the keyboard?) Oh, and by the way, you post with *just as much passion and challenge as I do* in many of your posts, and you know it, so spare me the "You just don't want other people to say anything" song-and-dance, because I have never communicated such, and no "well it seems like it" argument is good enough to prove otherwise. You are college (or equivalent) educated adult. I would expect more intelligent responses than that from you. If what I am saying is wrong, then show it clearly. Ron's above post was a classic example of a better attempt than yours. I am disagreeing with him on specific points, and state why. ... And neither of us is going "There is no discussion available" to the other here. ... You notice that? And by the way, you also notice that my initial post here was with a humorous anecdote? It was others that took it more seriously and made an argument out of it. ... Right? <_< Ok. You're right, I'm wrong. God bless, and have a Merry Christmas!

For Australian beer --- Sheaf Stout is hard to beat. Is as good as Guinness ;) My personal preference (from here in Minney-soda), is Summit Extra Pale Ale.

Pond -- you said a bunch of stuff I find distasteful -- but this one takes the cake. B as in B, and S as in S!! So you're condemning a person for trying to right what they see is wrong in their life? Let's see if this analogy works -------------- You were once in twi, right??? You got out, right??? Did you feel any remorse or hurt from the experience?? Maybe you did, or maybe you didn't -- I don't know. But taking the statement you made (above) slams every last one of us who were involved in the org twi, as well as slamming alcoholics who are trying to do the right thing by leaving. An evil prescence is detected (be it twi or alcohol). Some semblence of sanity tells us to LEAVE! And now your comment is that it's a *sad commentary* on how we managed our lives???? Give me a break here. Wake up and smell the coffee. I don't know what ivory tower you live in, but it's time to move. Get the h3ll outta dodge, and try to see things as they really are. Your diarrhetic mouthings are NOT a blessing to those of us who live in the real world. Chas --- I agree. Wish she'd thought of that before hitting the *enter* key.

Pond -- you don't get it. What you just wrote is a *sad commentary* about your thought process. :(

What a joke. She couldn't have been serious -- but I'm guessing she was. God help them all -- they need it more than we do.

Kit -- If I had the Vatican's phone number, I'd call and nominate you for saint hood!! The patron saint of widowed men who need laundry soap.
-
Aww -- Dooj, don't fret it. :) Garth is wrapped up in the SOUNDS OF SILENCE He's the wall he was mentioning earlier. There's no discussion *available* if he is in the mix. Sorry Garth -- but am just stating the obvious (to most of us) here. <_<

But ---- did he sell you a Nut Extender?????

A classic case of *Do as I say, and NOT as I do" (And they expected us to listen to them about the Word -- despite their own despicable actions). SOS comes to mind --- Snake Oil Salesmen.

Vegan -- yea, I hear that. I'm in the inner city too, but then again, Duluth is so much smaller than Milwaukee, there's no comparision. Duluth's city limits are 5 miles wide, and 30 miles long -- so the "country" is easily accessible from almost anywhere in town here. I sympathize with those who have to deal with a multitude of snow, and narrow city streets all at the same time. :( Likeaneagle -- I've been called dangerous before -- but not for taking off in snowstrorms. :) Actually -- taking off to enjoy a late night ride in a snowstorm is quite safe, since (most folks) do so with preparedness, and not *on a lark*. Ha!! I remember doing doughnuts in the mall parking lot back in Indiana!! I was probably all of 17 (or so), and my brother and I would take out the car to have fun in the mall parking lot!! Only problem was -- my Dad ALWAYS knew the ending mileqage of the car (when he got out of it), and he ALWAYS knew how much gas was in it, and how much he had put in the last time he got gas. So when my brother and I went and spun doughnuts after Dad went to bed -- we were immediately busted the next time Dad got in the car -- (usually the next morning), and saw the gas gauge! Believe you me -- we BOTH heard about it, when he got home from work! :( :( And yea -- there is something magical about being out late at night, unplowed roads, feeling the snow beneath your tires, hearing the soft hum as you barrel through it all, and watching the snow fly by the windows as you go through it with impunity! Kit is right about snow being quiet, and being out in it is a truely peaceful time. I know I said "8 to 12 inches is perfect" earlier, but I meant to say 8 or so inches. Given the *drifting* we have on the roads up here, 8 inches becomes more quickly. And sadly --- Minney-soda gets some snow, but not as much as the south shore of Lake Superior. So when snow does come (in sufficient abundance), one has to be ready to get out and enjoy it.:)

I have to search each time I go as well. I get one of those boxes of arm and hammer that'll do 48 or so loads, and that lasts me for an entire year. So (about) a year passes between my purchases of laundry soap -- and all the labels have changed by the time I need another one. :( Ya think the companies would cater to old guys like us and keep some things the same --- same labels, bold print, easy-to-read labeling of the contents, no *decorator* packaging, etc., but then again we don't make up enough of the market to warrant such consideration.

It is impossible to obey God without first obeying your leadership
dmiller replied to rascal's topic in About The Way
I've read snippets of his thread (not the entire thing), and while considering the title of the thread -- I have to agree. With twi -- it has always been God to so-and-so, to so-and-so, to so-and-so, finally wafting *God's* knowledge down to YOU. Nother words -- you had to stand in line, and WAIT for *leadership* to tell you what God told Jesus, to tell their leader, to tell them to tell you. NUTS TO THAT. What the hey ever happened to the God in the book of Acts who dealt with believers on a personal basis, daily?? So now twi enters the picture --with all the classes, programs, elite nametags, etc. The Pogrom (scuze me -- Program) that docvic and twi set up was the proverbial thumb over the head. We walked in with eyes wide open. For those of us that walked out, our eyes were even more wide open. But make no mistake about it -- once *in* we were subjected to the rules and regs of the org. If we chose to *fellowship with the one body*, we had to toe the line. Accept what came down the pike from hdqtrs, no questions asked. Sorry Dove -- but I have to agree with the basic premise here that a *spiritual* gun was held to our heads. It seems eminantly clear (to me) that if you didn't measure up -- you were kicked out, M & A'd, whatever you want to call it. I was 23 when I first took the class. I was 35 (or so) when I got out. While I chose to *fellowship* with twi, it became increasingly evident that they were making more and more demands on my life, that were exceding the boundaries of sanity. Sure -- I chose to stay *in* for the time I did. But while I was *in* -- they called the shots, not I. -
Yea --- that's the one. Didn't want to upset Vegan or DrtyDzn by posting it though.

More power to you. I'm dealing with the same issues. Prayers from me to God for you.
