http://graphics10.nytimes.com/images/2006/...ce/video190.jpg A video fron the NEW YORK TIMES (I hope you can click this link, and see it. Otherwise you have to sign up to the NYTonline, to see it.) A Bluegrass Blog I log into occasionally, had this link to an article on "String Theory". ;) Edited to say --the video link didn't work, but notice (if the pic works), where the strings end up on the body of the guitar.
  2. Hey there DrtyDzn!! (PS--- No animal products were used in either this greeting or the sending thereof.) Party hearty!

    Christmas Music

Every time I hear Simple Gifts, I think of *Christmas* (quote end of quote), since it epitomizes the *Reason For The Season*, even if I hear it played in July. :) HERE'S THE MELODY],

Hey Polar Bear -- that's spelled Jose NOT Hose!! In the immortal words of Doug and Bob (the Mckenzie brothers -- of the Great White North), "How's it going, eh??? Now -- take off HOSER!!"
  5. (edited to say -- shucks I couldn't get the image to show). :(

    Guitar Talk

I just spent the last hour (or 2 or 3), reading the first ten pages of this thread, and clicking links. It's all good --- from then till now. ;) Saw a few unanswered questions that still need to be addressed about guitars -- (remember --- guitars? What this thread was about originally?)
  8. I should really start watching tv, or indulging in movies. I might have a clue (then) as to what you all are talking about! ;)

Hey RumRunner -- has anyone given you a compliment lately??? (Even if you do promote that global warming theory thingy ---- ) Yer top notch (in my book). :) :) Physical pain versus mental assault/ pain-and-suffering. Dunno. Hard to say which is more complex. Suffice it to say, folks are working their way through both (these days). I have more admiration for you and your *trials*, than I do for myself and mine. But -- thanks for the recognition. It means a lot. In my mind it boils down to God's grace, and whatever you want to do with it. Freedom of will, determination to do that which is right versus wrong, ignoring temptations -- tough stuff in the mind. But you had no choice, since it was all about the physical. Thanks for comiserating -- but I still think you had the harder battle., even though both of them are tough.
  10. An olive drab outfit, matches soooooo well with gold gilt chairs!!!
  11. DONNIE FUGIT'S INFLUENCE ON LCM. Too bad LCM didn't have *ears to hear*. Donnie was one of the good guys.

Hey, hey, heyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Guess what (y'all)? We just passed the *Baseball (the talking sport)* thread in posts! They've got 1,644 posts, and we have (a few) more), but we're adding daily! (Their last post was 4 days ago.) That thread was started in 2003, and this one started (almost) 11 months ago. :) Socks -- You've created a monster thread here. Thank you, sir. Thanks for the chance to share, learn, talk music, and fellowship with others in this unique setting. No flaming here, no disagreements, no name calling, no denigration of anyone else's music *beliefs* -- The overall operative word here is *sharing*. (How'd you pick that lick, and what ax did you use?????) Woops --did I say *create*??? Isn't God the only one who can *create*?? uhhhhhhh -- does that make Socks God????? Hmmmmmmmm. What's Eric Clapton going to have to say about THAT ONE. Next thread to overtake here at GSC is Nostalgia, and then (if you believe in miracles) THE MIGHTY NINTH CORPS THREAD. (I believe in miracles -- but not any that big!) ;) I'm a small miracle kinda guy. Just enough for some substantive believing. Overtaking the Ninth Corps Thread in posts, would be like parting the Red Sea!! (or keeping my banjo in tune all the time!) :( But I don't think that is the objective here. New *stuff*, new toys, new info on performers, gear that works, GAS attack (Gear Aquisition Syndrome), new videos that showcase someone important to us, things that make us happy, content, and learning new things, from the input of others with an other (varying experience), than that of our own. I've had a blast. It's been a heck-uv-a-ride. I'm looking for many more entries from you all. It's been an experience I never would have thought I would ever be a part of.:) God bless us all, each and every one. It's been a treat, and hope it continues for a long, long, time. (Life Is Short --- Pick Quick).

Ala -- that recording sounds poorly, when played over the phone (as I did for the forum). Old cassette tape, but sounds good here at the house -- just not over the airwaves. :( Meebe I can get it converted to CD, and learn how to upload it. It might sound more decent, then. Ps -- yes -- banjo, bass, and cello as well as the other instruments you mentioned.. ;)
  14. Chris and Mark --- see my latest post in *THE SOAP OPERA*, on the 'I'm Back" thread. :)
  15. I found that picture by following Waysider's advice, to Google *First Way Corps*. ;)

Here's Joe, and his band called Joy Kills Sorrow. (It takes a minute to load, and buffer).
  19. Eagle -- I've had inexplicable things happen to me as well, when driving. By rights --I shouldn't even be alive today. Regardless of what some may say, God is in business to keep us functioning. I'm convinced concerning *miracles*. God's OS for this (our) day and time. Thanks for sharing. :)

Yup -- but I'm voting for the Mando Picker Joe Walsh. You would too, if you've sat in as many jam sessions with him as I have. ;)

    Waysider -- is it :P
  23. I was given a whole $h!tload of grief by leadership because I considered any and all corps sponsorship to be ABS -- as I was giving to twi's future. Made sense to me, but it sure didn't to them. I got called on the carpet more than once for this, and finally told them (leadership) to shove it. What I gave (and to whom) was MY business, and not theirs. This was back in the '70s, so they backed down. Not sure if that tactic would have worked in later years.
