  1. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Story - Gotta love it. In most of the United States, there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when the temperatures drop down to single digits or below. About 3 AM, one very cold morning, Trooper Allan Nixon #658 responded to a call there was a car off the shoulder of the road outside Shattuck . He located the car, stuck in deep snow, and with the engine still running. Pulling in behind the car with his emergency lights on, the Trooper walked to the driver's door to find an older man passed out behind the wheel with a nearly empty vodka bottle on the seat beside him. The driver came awake when the Trooper tapped on the window. Seeing the rotating lights in his rearview mirror, and the State Trooper standing next to his car, the man panicked. He jerked the gearshift into 'drive' and hit the gas. The car's speedometer was showing 20-30-40 and then 50 mph, but it was still stuck in the snow, wheels spinning. Trooper Nixon, having a sense of humor, began running in place next to the speeding, but still stationary car. The driver was totally freaked, thinking the Trooper was actually keeping up with him. This goes on for about 30 seconds, then the Trooper yelled at the man to 'Pull over!' The man obeyed, turned his wheel and stopped the engine. Needless to say, the man from Dumas, Texas was arrested, and is probably still shaking his head over the State Trooper in Oklahoma who could run 50 miles per hour. Who says Troopers don't have a sense of humor?

    A Speach

Could nude bee-keeping factor in? If you were to (somehow) correlate it with the topic at hand?? :)

Ahhhh --- the bass. It's an Eminence portable upright. Look at how thin it is. And the neck is removable, for easier transportatiion. I've heard some of these at shows -- and the sound is GREAT!

Here's my new year's wish for all. A great message to begin 2007 with. TAKE A LITTLE TIME, TO HOWL AT THE MOON. And Socks -- happy birthday (whenever it is)! And bass players -- notice the Eminence portable bass being played. And Chatty -- thanks for taking the top of the page!
  5. I clicked on one poster's name, to find a post they had made, (in order to reply properly in a pm) and clicking on the *posts* in their profile it just blinked at me -- and showed no info about their posts. This is gonna be harder than I thought. It's gotta be me, and my ignorance.
  6. Did I miss a link to click on here --- or is Ex10's *quiz* what we need to refer to??

    Bondage

Cool -- One of my client's chair was *stolen* by staff at the hospital once. Got an extra set of cuffs??? ;)
  8. :biglaugh: Me too! (staying in -- that is).
  9. Given all this *yellow*, it reminds me of pineapple on pizza. It *tastes* good!!
  10. Firefox -- but I have Safari as well -- which I haven't tried yet -- with the upgrade. :)
  11. Mr H -- given Vegan's inclinations concerning food, etc., -- She might see "Ham" as something offensive, even if it does refer to Ham radio. ;) Just a thot.
  12. Vegan -- WHAT!!! No *Meat* or *Animal products*??? Meebe it's of God after all. Corn crusher --- sheesh! I detect a kernel of truth there.
  13. Oh --forgot to add --I'm used to adding the {color=#330000] thing. It was a treat to be able to highlight certain portions of text, without typing in the code. But like I say -- Nemmermind me. You asked a question, and I replied. I will figure out how to live with this site, as I have in the past. Despite the upgrades *confusion* -- what is offered here, is MUCH MORE important than how it affects me. :)
  14. I'm not seeing *editor* anywhere. I get a blank spot for fonts (the drop down arrow won't work) I get a blank spot for sizes (the drop down arrow won't work) And I see an A (for text color), and the drop down arrow doesn't work there either. btw --again -- I'm not complaining. I figure I am doing something wrong, or if it's not my fault, I figure it is a glich due to the *newness* I'll dink around with it some more, and try to figure out where I'm missing it. :)

I --- Was --- Jokinnnnnnggg!!! A non *pc* comment (if you will) about the looks of some players (these days). ;)
  16. And I can't seem to add color, to words anymore. Not complaining mind you -- I'm guessing this will be a thing of the past, when the site is fully up and running. However -- it was pretty easy (yesterday) to highlight/color certain portions of text. Meebe it's just me, and I haven't figured it out yet.
  17. Here's hoping you have a GREAT day. :)
  18. Gomer --welcome to GSC. Please continue to feel at home here. And thanks for your perspectives. They are welcome here too.

I could've sworn I saw that guy at the last Duluth Blues Fest!! (It's a HUGE affair here each year -- resurrecting artists from the past, and showcasing them here at BayFront Park.) But maybe not THAT far past!!
  20. Logged on today -- and Woooohhh!! Didn't need that first cup of coffee to wake up. The site here did it instead! It is a bit bright, but checking out the new features here will be fun. :)
  21. Here's one for a BANANA SPLIT DESSERT I got from a lady I used to work with. The company I worked for then, had a pot-luck lunch every month or so -- and she was always relegated to desserts, since she was SOOOOO good at it. :) BANANA SPLIT DESSERT: CRUST: 2 cups graham cracker crumbs 1 stick margarine (melt margarine and mix with crumbs. Press crumb mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Chill in refrigerator, while making the filling.) FILLING: 2 eggs, 2 sticks of margarine, 1 tsp of vanilla, 2 cups powdered sugar. (Beat this at the highest speed of mixer for 15 minutes) THIS IS A MUST!! Spread filling over chilled crust and cover with a layer of sliced bananas. Cover the bananas with one 8 oz carton of Cool Whip. Garnish with marachino cherries (chopped). Drizzle with Hershey's chocolate Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts (walnuts or party peanuts). Garnish the entire top with dollops from a can of strawberry pie filling Refridgerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've made this one myself -- and this recipe WORKS! Remember the 15 minute rule for the filling - the change in consistancy is amazing. The hardest part of this -- is the 8 hour wait. ;)
  22. As a kid - there was no real New Year's tradition in our family. Usually just a good meal, and then all of us watching the Rose Bowl game. Free -- I'd forgotten about the twi meetings *praying in the New Year* (not to be confused with *praying in the holy spirit*), but I guess that was a *tradition* for about 10 years. Out of twi, and divorced -- I and some others got together on New Year's Eve to play music for fun --then turned it into a money making proposition. We were hired for many years by a popular bar/restaurant to do the honors that night. (Geo -- that was at the Island Lake Inn -- up the Rice Lake Road). The lake being frozen, folks from all around the lake came over on snowmobiles for the evening. There were ususally more snowmobiles parked in the lot there than there were cars. These days I usually work, though this year I have the holiday off. The guys at the group home need staffing, whether it's a holiday or not. So if it's your scheduled day to work, you work. This year -- I have no plans, except mostly staying inside. Practice fiddle, visit GSC, and maybe stay up till midnight. :B)

I only make one resolution each year -- and keep it faithfully. My one resolution is to make NO OTHER New Year's resolutions!! ;)
