  1. And Paw -- I forgot to thank you for getting Dr. Juedes to speak to both the situation of twi, and ces. It was awesome, humble observations, no ego, no self promotion, and eye opening. Again -- thanks to the both of you. Lighting the path, for others to see as they travel life's journey. (Or should I say "Lighting the Way, For the USA")??
  2. Undone -- you might want to check out the CES IN CRISIS Forum, if you haven't done so already. This forum (GS Radio), is for comments about the interviews, and not for theological debate. If you're willing to head to the CES forum, or the About the Way forum, You'll get plenty of takers/ repliers to your comments. ;) Btw --- Welcome to GreaseSpot Cafe! First cup of coffee is on me!!!

  8. Shucks --- I looked all over Google for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing Happy Birthday. What did I find?? Nada. Zip. Nothing. I'll have to settle for these graphics instead -- Hope it was a good day, Mo! :D
  9. :( :( :( Thank you for letting us know. My condolences. I only knew him here, but he was loved by many, myself included.

Hiya Excie -- I'm doing my durndest to derail this into a fiddle thread. Sadly -- It ain't a'working!! Hang around here a bit, and you'll be singing the blues, just like me! (Psst -- don't tell anyone, but I kinda like it). I'm learning more here by accident, than elsewhere by design. ;)

Here's a better pic of it (I think!). Like I said, I'm no photographer, but the first one looked blurred to me. I set the resolution lower, and this one seems to be clearer. (Answering questions here ---) Socks -- yes. That is wood inlaid into the wood of the back of the fiddle. It's an inlay of a church in the background, with houses and another church (or maybe a rectory for it), in the front of it. I count (about) 60 different pieces of wood inlaid in, to make the "graphics", along with 35 or so pieces of mother-of-pearl that make up all the windows. Ala -- I'm not sure how old it is, however the label on the inside reads ---- JAQUES BOUQUAI rue d' Argenteuil a Paris. While I realize that labels are the *easiest* thing to fake on fiddles -- That one looks genuine, especially since there is another label on top of it, which reads -- Wallace B. Whittcomb Maker Repairer (Wallace crossed out maker, and repairer is in his handwriting) Milwaukee, Wis. Jan. anno 1896 . Let me post this here, and see if the photo turned out, and then I'll tell you all how I came across it! ;) (PS --- edited to add this here): Jaques Bouquai was a violin maker from France, and was (supposedly) one of the best at re-creating the varnish and *look* style that Stradivarius did. He made cellos as well as violins. He STOPPED making instruments before 1750. If my fiddle is the *real deal*, (and the way it looks is definately *old world*) it was made back when George Washington was a teenager.
  12. Hey -- there's a name from the past. CC -- hope your 50th was a good one!

    racism

Sarah Jane -- thanks Rocky -- I didn't remember that. Regardless -- I don't see it as a false analogy. Two folks did crimes many years ago. They got caught, some (how ever many), years later. I really don't give a ratzz ^^^ as to how they lived their lives, in the aftermath. The point I was trying to make to my mom on the phone, (as she was willing to forgive one, and condemn the other), was simply this: "Do the crime --Pay the time. BOTH OF THESE TWO WERE GUILTY OF MURDER. Someone pulled back the sheets of the bed they were laying in some 40 years later. Both of them were caught with pants down. But one (Sarah Jane) -- seems to get a ticket to freedom, whereas the other does not -- he's castigated as a racist, murderer of black men, while this *poor white woman* merely helped murder a bank guard. So -- that's what I meant by REVERSE discrimination. It happens all the time. I'm not going to accuse you of having bought into it too --- but it sure looks like it. For what it's worth -- I'd like to see BOTH of them get the death penalty -- even all these years later.

    The big event..

But that takes the fun, speculation, and mystery out of it!! :P
  16. John -- I agree with your last sentence, which I bolded. Now --- I wouldn't be saying this, if I haven't seen it first hand. And (may I add) , I've been through sales seminars that teach exactly the same thing. Granted -- I don't KNOW about docvic's *motivation*, but what he propounded *AS A LAW* was a carbon copy of what I heard, back when I was busting my a$$ to make a buck or two, in sales. Like I said earlier -- I believe in God's ability to do -- according to promises. That does NOT include my *believing* to sway His decision -- one way or the other. When I used to work for W. Clement Stone, we were given a *gold* coin with his face on one side, and the letters PMA (positive mental attitude) on the other side. And were (also) told to refer to the coin, when in doubt. It was supposed to bolster our confidence (or something). Kinda hard to see the difference between W Clement, and Docvic. Docvic never did give out the *gold coins*, with his face on one side, and something like PFAL on the other, He managed quite well -- with different colored nametags, and rhetoric. but he came purty close

  18. Maybe someone can find the posts ExCathedra made about New Jersey Drivers. And if I recollect correct, Ex70'sHouston did a thing on driving in Texas. Don't ask the time frame -- I don't remember. But I do remember lmao at BOTH of them!

Socks --- thanks for taking the *top of the page*!! I thank you -- My mother thanks you -- My father thanks you -- And especially --- ChattyKathy thanks you!! Hey . Took these pics of my *old guy* fiddle, with my new phone camera, and thought you all might be interested, in seeing the inlay work on the back of it. The back of it overall: (that's my 1968 D-35 Martin in the background). The front of it: A close-up of the *finger wear* on the front of the body: And a close-up of the inlay on the backside of it: I already posted these in the *phone* thread I started in open, but thought to share them here as well. :)
  21. Sioux -- thanks. :) I got a phone the other night, after work. Here's a close-up pic of the back of one of my fiddles I took with it --- Here's the front of it: Her's the backside overall: (That's my 1968 Martin D-35 guitar in the background). I went for a pic phone (a Verizon LG), that costs 60 or 70 bucks, after the mail in rebate. I like the *heft* of it --- I have big hands, and something like a Razor is too small. Will be going to the phone company I already use (as per a suggestion from Cool Waters), concerning the absolute lowest cost on this coming monday. As of yet -- I'm undecided about the land line. Will be making a desicion this next week.
  22. John -- I don't know. Could be. From what I read of that article (and others), it's a mental disorder.

    racism

For what it's worth --- coupla years ago, a lady was found in Minneapolis (I forget her name), who had been involved in a bank burglary (and a murdered guard), in California, back in the 1970's. She had led an exemplary life (after the fact), so the general *hue and cry* up here, after she was found out was --- "Let her go!!. (but she was STILL complicit to a murder). Same year -- a 70 or so year old guy some where down south, gets caught for a 40 year old *hate crime*, where two young black men were murdered. Everyone is yelling -- HANG HIM. Interesting fact -- I was talking with my mom on the phone, when all of this was going on. She and I can be oil and water, when it comes to situations like this, and she asked me point blank (about the Mpls. woman) -- "But she did good with the rest of her life! Doesn't that count for something?" To which I replied -- "But that guy down south did the same. You want to see him exonerated for his past deeds too?" For once Mom shut up, and had no more to say. To me -- this is racism in reverse. :(
  24. TempleLady -- exactly. That's what I meant by my *preface*. For what it's worth there might have been 15, or 10, or 4, or 2 crucified with Christ. Jesus could be God, son of God, or brother to any of the other angelic host. Perhaps in the verse, in the context, where it has been used before, etc -- was right. There could've been 3 or 4 definitions for the use of the word *all* as well. Regardless of what twi taught about the above *doctrine*, none "stuck" it to the *believer*, like the Law of Believing. It was used as a tool to demean, denigrate, and devastate all of us *believers*. We were hit hard -- in both the mind, and the pocketbook. Financially -- if we wanted *abundance* --- it meant giving what we had to twi. Back in the mid 1970's, I helped sponsor a few folks in the corps. I counted what I gave to them as ABS. "NOT SO!!!" -- said my branch leader. I was told flat out that my *tithe* had to be to twi first ---- and any corps sponsorship, etc., would be considered *abundant sharing*. I retaliated with the comment -- "but I don't have enough to do all that". I was told to *believe* for God to provide the *abundance*. That line really frosted my A$$, but I blew it off, because the fellowship was a good one then. I thought (at the time) it was just one jerk, trying to tell me what to do. I found out (later), that was tragically untrue. And mentally --- they had us all over a barrel on that one, eh? Remember when they were giving away those two Harley's at the ROA? (Sorry -- I forget the year now (late 70's??)-- but I was there). I remember talking with one guy who was *believing* for that Harley at that ROA, to get back home. He'd hitched a ride to the ROA, and wanted to go home in style. He was REALLY believing for the thing, convinced it was his. He had a ride all lined up, back to his home town, but told them to give it to someone else. He was going to come home on a big bike. I don't know how he got home -- cause he didn't win the Harley. Twi messed with folk's minds, in many ways. But -- imo -- this one teaching/ doctrine did the most damage out of them all.
