Glad you liked the banjo "showcase" there! Hey --- on the OTHER END OF THE SPECTRUM --- Have you ever really tried to get those licks and riffs perfect while practicing, and while you seemed to be hitting all the right notes, something wasn't right?? Perhaps your guitar is embarassed by the chair you've chosen to sit in. What instrument wants to be seen, as it's owner picks from a tacky folding chair? Or from one of those *restaurant chairs", with the chome frame and naugahyde seats? Well ---FRET NO MORE! You can *ROCK* your riffs in style now. :B) PICK-N-GLIDER has the answer to your *Blues*. You can now own a rocking chair, that any guitar would be proud to be associated with. Designed in mind -- for both the picker and instrument alike. If the guitar ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! Pick-n-glider will have you rocking and rolling, in style. (Remember -- If you're not movin', you're not groovin'!) :D :D :D
  2. Well -- as it's been pointed out earlier, we are NOT a homogoneous group here at GSC. Here in the doctrinal section -- many beliefs have been discussed, that perhaps the only person believing it was the original poster, the thread starter. (such as seems to be the case here). The diversity is what keeps it interesting. :) So -- no, we would never refuse to discuss your beliefs. And believe me -- we've discussed some real *doozies* here!

Kathy --you mentioned you were interested in banjo. Here is some of the finest picking I have ever heard. This evokes memories of sitting on the front porch swing, somewhere down south, where *important* matters, have a different definition. Life in the "slow lane". Hard day at work, peaceful relaxing after. No worries, just a banjo in the lap, picking music, and to heck with the rest of the world. Click on ROCK THE CRADLE, JOE. If I could pick banjo like this -- I'd die a very happy man. This is as smooth as I've seen it get. :)
  5. (I made the JWO a live link, for the folks here). Roy gets around! (Uhhhh -- guess I do too)! Glad to have you here answering starbird, with posts from the JW perspective!
  6. I got that link from a cousin of mine, a coupla days ago. Move your mouse around, and her eyes follow as well.
  7. Noni -- good to see you here posting again. I was hoping you would add your perspective. :)
  8. Hey there Mark -- interesting site. I'll look at it a bit more later on. I'm especially interested in your dispensationalism section. :) Also --I see you got my e-mail addy from Cortright's Site. That's ok -- that's why it is there. I've got it listed here as well. Anyhoo -- I've got some reading to do!
  9. Well --- actually you did duck the question (imo). Let me offer a small tutorial about this site, if I may. ;) You said the answer should have been quite obvious. To me it is and was quite obvious. But -- (here's the tutorial part). Some folks around here have jumped to conclusions about other posters in the past, merely from looking at the other's posts and basing a judgement garnered only from that. Then when said other poster accuses the "assumer" of lying, flaming, what not, personal attacks begin, threads get derailed, and feelings get hurt. And all that could have been avoided by a simple question; such I asked you, so as not to seem to reach unmerited conclusions. Had I merely started off "accusing" you of being active JW, and you weren't, you would've (rightly) been able to castigate me for making unfounded assumptions. Some of us ask questions (like I did), before we leap and hit the enter button to reply to some post, that might cause the disharmony I mentioned earlier, without having asked the other poster first (as I did to you). So -- when a direct question is asked of ANY poster here about specifics (in whatever thread, in whatever forum) about something such I did with you, it's always good to answer, because some of us don't assume anymore. Now -- I don't want to derail this any further by my comments on this subject -- So ----- TIME TO GO BACK TO TOPIC.
  10. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=7913 Grace -- the above is the sticky mentioned by WordWolf. It's a topic that is "pinned" to the top of a forum page. It's kept in place at the top of the page, because it is important, and by staying at the top of the page, it doesn't get "lost in the shuffle"., thus the name "sticky". Look at the top of the About the Way Forum. You'll see a coupla topics on top, that say pinned beside them. Those are stickies. :)
  11. Oh -- and here is a link to AN ARTICLE JanH POSTED ON JWO, in 2002. Perhaps you might address his comments as well? :)

oh -- and a PS here -- He mentioned the tune Golden Fiddle Waltz was written by Randy Howard. I have 4 or 5 tapes here at the house of Randy, playing in his living room, backed up by his girlfriend on guitar. Randy was one of the greatest *sidemen* in Nashville, and sadly he passed away at a young age (I'll have to dig for specifics on this one). The tapes I have, were given to me by Shadd Cobb -- who was introduced (by myself and another friend of mine up here), to Bashful Brother Oswald (Pete Kirby), Charlie Collins, and Roy Acuff. When Randy passed away -- he willed his best fiddle to Shadd. Shadd made it big time in Nashville, as did his younger brother Jesse. You can hear either or both of them on the Grand Old Opry each week. I'm humbled to have had the shadows of great people cross my path, even if they were teenagers, when it happened.

Ala - thank you, thank you, thank you! You just brought tears to my eyes. That was John Lardinois, with his dad backing him up, on the guitar. I met him here in Minney-soda way back when he was still a younker. I knew him when he should've taken first in the Cotton Fiddle Contest, (an annual event held here in Minney-soda), but back then he took 3rd, or 2nd. He finally got good enough to take first -- repeatedly, and then became a judge for the contest. Good Lord -- where have the years gone??? It seems like yesterday I was listening to him compete, but now that I think on it -- it was more likely 15 years ago, or so.
  14. You didn't answer my question. If you're still an active JW, it would be pointless to discuss this. I used to date a dis-fellowshipped JW woman (df'ed for smoking cigarettes), and this here was a HUGE topic for her as well. We had many discussions on this topic -- and she has 4 kids. Upshot of it is -- she said she WOULD NOT give blood, even if it meant saving the life of one of her children. Now that (to me) is NUTS! So -- are you still active in the WTS?
  15. I had a good time at both the live AC class in 79, and the live PFAL 77, but I sure did get tired of hearing "Beautiful Ohio", marching across the grounds to the day's first teaching! (but then again -- I wasn't corp -- so I didn't have to work!)
  16. I think I'll make some popcorn, and sell front row tickets to this one!!
  17. Was that the "Renewed Mind" class? (If I recollect correct -- Walter taught that one).
  18. sacrelicious ; A statement describing something that tastes delightful, yet it is sacrilegious to diets. Example: A woman indulged in chocolate, and exclaimed, "Sacrelicious!" for she enjoyed the chocolate which was forbidden for her to eat by her dietician.
  19. déjà view ; A phenomenon that occurs after one watches a television show for the first time, then doesn't watch it again for a while. When they watch the show again later, the station happens to be re-airing the one episode they had already seen.

Warning to Chatty Kathy -- top of the page coming up!!
  22. Hiya Kit -- How be ye?? :) Hey, I just learned how to use photobucket, and it is awesome. If you have a photo on your desktop, you can upload that to photobucket, free and in your account. You have to enter your e-mail addy, but there is no charge for that, or uploading pics. And you have to find the pics on your own. I've taken pics off of websites, saved them to my desktop, and uploaded them onto photobucket, where you can send them from there, to anywhere. Hope that helped! click on Photobucket and see what you can do with it. :)
  23. And his tender words, posting on Wyoman's memorial thread -- a month ago.
  24. Starbird -- that's nuts. :) If you follow this line of thinking -- you must still be an active JW. What say ye???
