Ha, ha, ha - - I buy clothes pins to use to secure chip bags, etc. closed - - and my son LOVES to break them apart and make guns and slingshots from them. ((((((((((((Catcup)))))))))) Thank you so much for posting those incidents. I've had similar things happen in the past few years through some particularly dark times that only a loving God could have known and orchestrated. It gave me an assurance of His love that no human voice could have convinced me of. Very humbling and touching. J. -
Happy, happy day, Steve-O!!!!!! Hope you and all the other !s have lots of fun (and cake and ice cream, too :D--> )! J. -->

Good for you, Susie! Having come from a family of alcoholics and seeing only a few of them attain sobriety, I can attest it's no easy matter. Alcoholism is truly a family disease as I'm sure you've taught your children. Congratulations on your sobriety! J.

O.K. You got this jazz enthusiast's curiousity up, so I checked and found the following: From: “Etymology of Jazz†http://www.apassion4jazz.net/etymology.html 'gig' the musician's engagement, probably derives immediately from the 'gig' that is a dance or party, but 'gig' and 'gigi' (or 'giggy') also are old slang terms for the vulva; the first has been dated to the seventeenth century. Also: From: Word Origins: “Gâ€http://www.wordorigins.org/wordorg.htm This brings us to the most common sense, that of a musician's engagement or job. The musical sense dates to 1926 and first arose as jazz slang in the US. But the origin is not in music. The use of gig to mean a non-musical job or occupation dates to 1908, and the sense of a business affair or event is a year older than that. The origin is unknown, but it may come from the slang term gag. This dates to 1890 and means business method, practice, or behavior. All these sense are American slang usages. And, lastly: Word Origins. by Stephen Neville http://www.stc-soc.org/quill/2003-10/word_origins.html GIG Noun. Gig first appeared as a slang term among jazz musicians in the mid-1920's. Although mostly used as a noun, gig also has a verb form used in the uncommon word "gigging." The word itself connotes a short-term "one-night stand." Appearing in English in the 15th century, "gig" meant something spinning, like a "whirligig." Derived from that is a meaning of dancing, and since playing at parties and dances is every musician's meal ticket early in their career, it's easy to see how "gig" became generalized to mean any paying job. Interesting discussion also. J.

Well, there were some rooms that were the size of a closet that barely fit a double sized bed for a couple. Then, there were rooms in Stone Hall (???? I think that's the name) that were massive in comparison. And then a number of in-between sizes. Really depended on the size of the Corps you were in at the time, how the rooms got configured. Some earlier years had lots of single moms who, I've heard, got put in bunk bed situations. Then by 1986, they had built the townhomes on the back of the property, so we had 4 or 5 families per townhome with a deck in the back, etc. Pretty nice layout with bedrooms, kitchen and a common living room. Can't remember much more than that. So glad to read that the property is being used for a good group and for kids. It really was a beautiful location and property. Nice the grounds are being used for sports. J.

Just saw it last night and LOVED it. One of the best movies I've seen in a long while. Deep, thought provoking, sad, thought provoking, heart warming.... Amazing that a directoral debut would succeed with such an ambitious story or series of vignettes. Wow. J.

oh PUH-lease!!!! Give it a rest Mike. You're free to climb back under your mushroom, but leave us the hell alone. Been there done that, and we're not interested in the crap you're selling. God is much bigger than the hype you idolize. So take your cult somewhere else. J.

Hi Diazbro: No, I wholeheartedly agree with you. That's why I wrote that part about hearing the SNS hook up prior to heading out to RC and hearing vpw's voice like he had just had a stroke. We were shocked and concerned. But when we also asked about his health out on the field, we were just told "I dunno" with a shrug from our leaders. And though we were asked by John to pray and were told vpw was deathly ill, his remarks were always brief and certainly not open to discussion. I think by that time, there was such an exclusionary air within the ministry with most people being on a "need to know" basis and anything that dealt with poor health being viewed as "negative" to discuss, that it wouldn't even "occur" to us at that time to talk about it much. Even talking casually with him, it was just not the kind of thing you'd probably ask him - - "by the way, how are you feeling today??" as odd as that may seem today. Your quote: And I don't know either. J.

Sunesis posted: Oh no doubt about it. See my post today under "VPW, Cancer and Gartmore" where he talked to us about his eye. He definitely believed it. J.

Oh yeah, one more thing I wanted to add about John H. There's a lot of specualation about why vpw chose John to take over at RC. But one of the reasons, I believe he was picked - - and I cannot verify this - - was only mentioned once that I know of by John - - and that was because John H. NEVER drew a paycheck from twi. Not as a LC, not as a RC, not as a Corps Coordinator. John and his brother had their own landscaping business and John had his own money (and it was rumored Mary Ann came from a money family; though I don't know about that). I think, besides John's gruff mannerisms being the way they were, that the other reason he wasn't intimidated by any of the other guys was cuz they weren't paying his paycheck. That and being handpicked by vpw - - kinda gave him a little clout. He was his own man, that's for sure and was not going to pander to LCM, the trustees or any of the other campus coordinators. Just a little aside. :D--> :P--> J.
