  1. I understand they were not mannequins. They were, well.. you know. inflatable "people" purchased from the local XXX store, complete with air pump.. More life-like than mannequins I think..
  2. I mean.. aren't things kinda *sick*.. when doctors depend on their salary or payment being guarantee by debt collectors.. I mean.. they can generally be relied upon for about a 17 percent return.. outsourced, of course.
  3. In a lot of "other" words.. if one is aged, unemployed and injured.. the state is not too interested in helping the said individual. No, that was not me.. interesting.. the hospital "gives up".. i.e. knows the person can never pay.. but the doc who does the work.. no. The fees are on the books.. in the unlikely event the person will ever gain employment.. it's just what I personally observe.. then if the person gets employed.. garnishment of wages.. surely follows. Interesting, no?
  4. If they had a cast that excluded tom cruzize and alec baldwin, I might be a tad more interested.. a flop. Maybe the citizens of this country have had enough of cruise and baldwin.. I really don't think cruize and baldwin technically are or represent hollywood.. the girl on th the poster promo. I think maybe she is more "Hollywood".. just an impression. Who is she, anyway? I think it is more like cruze and baldwin are preaching the (mis)flavor of the decade.. has anyone REALLY been listening to this for the last 20 years? Just a few thoughts..
  5. ha.. not in this state. you can be even unemployed.. for a long long time.. unless you are a staffer at less than minimum wage, and have dependent children. Then the government seems to be a *tad* less stingy. I wonder where they find their "abundant" and "prevailing" lifestyle in Michigan..
  6. Extreme, yes. The guy paying for all the scans bought an Epson scanner.. Until now the best I've had to work with was second hand HP hardware.. The software was nice, in the sense I could adjust the window that it would scan stuff.. but still slow. And it would not generate searchable pdf's.
  7. Maybe they are both on the same side of the same coin.. I just wish we didn't have such extremes to deal with.. Maybe the best I can do is not to generate such extremes.. Politically I think we are lost.
  8. I know.. for some it is a vacation, for others it is a holiday of terror.. even in the worst of times here.. and maybe that is yet to come.. it seems preferable to the alternative..
  9. Thankfully, I have not been a direct object of mistreatment by this numbnuts..
  10. Bizarre.. kill one's self if the dead are alive.. I have a few impressions of the "previous existence". practically begging to be able to participate in an earthly, (relatively) non (or less) complicated existence.. Why end it all when you got what you asked for?
  11. I asked this character the Big Question once.. what the hell are we, really.. though that question already burned holes in me. At least the cosmic reply. and the answer.. we are just entities finding our way through this existence.. the best I can figure.. he died in his sleep.
  12. One of my best ham friends seemed to have chosen to not have children. Yes, he was married. I never had a good solid concrete reason to ask him why, or why not.. couldn't have he.. shouldn't have he.. It was pretty much his business I suppose. He was married over forty years. he "adopted" a lot of people though..

    Song of the moment

Jesus.. she was the lsd queen.. brought the little bottle onto the island, for the group to share.. in one video they gave her the distinction of being the magic mushroom girl.. what the hell happened.. Consciously, every (lucid) dream I have had lately has shown that I'm in a losing battle..

    Song of the moment

Most of the Psychedelia.. came back with horns and rhythm sections and such.. but it still sounded remotely like the soul music it did not precede. Kinda like Spirit.. I don't know if there was any real progressive rock, other than becoming aware of itself.. They still can't do any better than Cass Elliot..

    Song of the moment

Psychedelia was born in Soul.. and music of the fifties.. I think the fifties was a harder language to understand..
  16. Ha! well.. the next time around.. I have the mathematical prowess to be a lord.. I'm trying to figure out what the other party is supposed to be.. maybe that is what they are figuring out this time..
  17. But the original topic.. I don't think there is any (real) marriage in twi.. they are as clueless as the Impressive Clergyman in the previously referenced old video.. just need the final pronouncement.. "man and wife".. why can't it be "woman and husband".. I dunno. I mean.. practically.. that is equivalent, isn't it? from previously referenced old video.. just need the final pronouncement.. "man and wife".. why can't it be "woman and husband".. I dunno. I mean.. practically.. that is equivalent, isn't it? I wouldn't mind be described as someone's husband..
  18. There is an age difference. Not too much.. maybe 12 years? I'm not sure. But considering health choices.. over a hundred pounds overweight.. smokes lotsa tobacco.. vs. a 12 year later.. I don't smoke. Tobacco, anyway.. and even that, maybe three times a year. The non-tobacco version, that is. I aerobically exercise about 4 to 5 times a week.. my only real big fault is red wine. I like it.. a *tad* on the side of too much. yeah, we will reincarnate about the same time. If that's how the universe really works, anyway.. Mawedge? Maybe then, who knows.. if that's how the universe works, anyway..
  19. I met a Soul Mate once. Absolutely, positively NUTS. As in Kwazy. Out of their gourd. A deck missing a few cards.. a frigging lunatic. I'm sure the description (aptly) reciprocates. Maye this time around we needed some kind of vacation from each other..
  20. Mawedge.. a dweam within a dweam.. sowy.
  21. If this ever helps somebody.. the only files you need from the setup disk are in the root.. which includes setup.exe and a few other files and programs, and the directories win98 and drivers (with their contents). don't need the cdsamples or oldmsdos directories.. but you will find what you need to initially set up the hard drive in oldmsdos. There is fdisk and format. And xcopy- makes it far easier to copy the setup files to the hard drive..
  22. so.. with this wonderful setup disk, it doesn't matter if one installed a cdrom system file. when the setup restarts the system, it remarks out any cdrom drivers in config.sys and autoexec.bat. then it can't find the rest of the files on the cdrom. so the easiest solution is to copy all setup files to a physical drive that is actually present: drive c. At least the setup program is well behaved. It will look for files in the same directory it started from, after the reboot.
  23. Now I copy the entire setup disk from the cd rom because I very well know from previous experience, that if I set it up through the cd, the cd driver will NOT be installed. So the rest of the installation will not be worth a crap..
  24. The only thing lacking here is elevator music. Why am I formatting an old hard drive with an old system, you ask.. well.. eventually. It will hold a (legitimate) copy of win 2000. why an old hard drive, an old computer, and an old operating system, you ask... Mainly because I haven't found any scanning software worth a damn. The very best and quickest seems to be something from HP that runs on software that runs best on win 2000.. well, the fastest anyway. There is probably commercial software that does far better..
