CES is in a Mess...
Ham replied to Captain Crunch's topic in Spirit and Truth Fellowship International
All the while he is wearing the Superman suit of personal prophecy and "unquestionable" biblical scholarship, who can sincerely question him, if they buy into his kind of error? Even with all his practical failures, they still kept him around, sold his material, worshipped the ground he walked on. The "doctrine" is above question, in their minds, above recrimination. Sound familiar? Its the same cult. -
Well.. an EIGHTEEN pound turkey, a real big ham, green been casserole, lots of other fixings, no prime rib however. Can we have some of yours Johnny?

I warned him, "Buckster, you really shouldn't mix wine, beer AND half a dozen Cosmopolitans". But would he listen, noooooo. He lost a movie contract with Disney over this little escapade. -

BOWTWI, I think you can purchase the classes, tapes and all, to use as you see fit. I think that is a good departure from TWI's long-standing closed corporation methods. You can listen to them at your own leisure. Some people have run the classes publically, and allow genuine discussion of the material. But if you like straight chairs, you will have to string them yourself. :)

Just wonder: how can you trust someone who is dead, unless you believe the dead are alive; that would set his writings on their ear, wouldn't it? It may sound scary, but why not find your own path? The God that created the heavens and earth certainly is big enough to keep you from being jumped by devils. I think settling for someone else's second hand, one size fits all destiny is hardly what this life was cut out to be; settling for "apostle" vics dogma is like scratching at crumbs, when a person has the bread of Life "available" to them.

I have a feeling that the one side spoken of won't LET us have a definitive judgement. Maybe he thinks the default judgement will be more merciful. -

I for one wouldn't dream of impugning the integrity of the Captain. Just sold heavily sugared cereal with gooseberries. Now if you wanta fault him for the development of caries in the young and innocent, that's another matter. He never raped, stole, committed adultrery, maligned brethren or worse. Too bad I can't say that for a lot of christian "ministers". -
Rhino, my real name produced "Angel Death" Muuuuwahahahahahha...

Say what you will about his "Doctorate".. He didn't have a real shabby master's degree. By the time you got a master's, even in the forties, you'd have at least a LITTLE experience in research and documentation, I would think. But looking at his "work"- I'd say a high school english student does a better job at it. If he knew better, if he was so smart- why in God's name didn't he do it right? There aren't very many options to answer that question.

I dunno.. the further removed I'm removed from the old days, the worse and darker they look. I think I was addicted to abuse, like a narcotic or something. When people beat on a person, and it starts to feels good, I think said person is in trouble.

Seems to me, the only two ways you could really know what was in Bullinger's mind (or Luther, etc) would be one of two ways: 1. You knew said person, personally. 2. You've somehow channeled their spirit from the afterlife or something. What does THAT say about those who seem to be in the know? oh yeah, the old "God showed me". right. God's in the business of telling me what dead people believe(d).

The time taken off may be time well spent. You may come out of it with a lot bigger God than you had before. Seems to me, for some folks, a real encounter with the Dvine can be poison. Instead of accepting it for what it is, they try to mold and craft the experience into their old religious shells It doesn't really fit unless you do a lot of hacking away. One reason why is discount a lot of what goes on in TWI terms of "prophecy" anymore- I havent' seen it really produce the effects that it is supposed to do, as far as ICor 14 states. It is supposed to be a life changing encounter with the divine- not a "well, that's kinda neat" at best questionable experience, "was that really God" was usually my thought after hearing a bland, generic "I loves ya, ma people" message. I have the same question, why is this stuff in the bible? says we are supposed to covet to prophesy, forbid not to speak in tongues.. but I think to teach a way to produce prophecy on demand is flawed. Seems others have a similar observation, that it doesn't have quite the impact that it is supposed to. "Well, it didn't QUITE work right there.. lets try it another way.." Turn it into "personal prophecy" or some such nonsense- in CES it had an effect, not of edification, but unto destruction. One troubling statement- "WE are looking closer at the personal prophecy thingy".. what are they gonna do? "Well, it didn't work quite so right that time. Hmmmmm.. let's try this..." Here we go again. Sheesh.

I don't think its nuts. I tend to think that "it" is another living soul. Even the bible makes provisions for an ox.

A flashlight is a good idea, but I replaced the standard bulb in mine with a LED bulb. That should extend the battery life about 10 fold or so. Maglite now offers such a replacement, but it is rather expensive- about 20.00- for a bulb. The one I got was a generic replacement, and it cost a little less.
