    Another poll..

Perhaps.. but from the other poll, it seems people generally are far happier with the results from their investment of time and money in college. Not one of them (as of yet) curse at the mention of their alma mater.. Interesting here.. not a single one would honestly recommend someone to go into da corps or a lookalike..
  2. A new earth.. well, if there's justice.. the numbnuts who smeared the place up in God's name will be the ones to clean it up.. gather up all the plastic, dredge up the spilled oil, and China.. better wear rubber gloves and full gear there.. *we* don't tolerate "clean" coal burning plants here.. why do we tolerate old fashioned, older technology fully equipped polluters THERE? one of my neighbors is really really conservative.. would rather drown what's left of government in a bath tub.. but he goes to China, for his work.. I asked him.. "how's the air.. nice there?" his face turned white.. he said they have toxic dumps and such, right next door to large schools.. toxic, flamable stuff all over, along with broken lights with bare hanging wires on and in the building.. It's a "paradise" for an importer, or big corp like say, wally mart..

    Half a God

What's interesting to me.. some of us in this world fight vehemently regarding which half a god we think we've got.. maybe da way (and some others) treat theology like a cookbook.. bake a god, in twelve (more or less, depending on the particular flavor) easy steps.. Geometry and algebra is like that. Someone makes a system of axioms or conditions. Then if a set with certain operations qualifies, it is considered to be one of the algebras.. in way terms, I think they have the following axioms: 1. God is all powerful 2. God is infinitely intelligent 3. He can be understood (or he is rational) 4. He is perfect in every way 5. He is completely righteous and fair 6. He exists, to serve me. If at any time I press the right buttons and switches, I can have anything I want. I don't think one can find a god that fulfils all of these conditions.. at the same time. Kind of like getting a fair election. Kenneth Arrow proved that any election cannot satisfy all conditions of fairness, at the same time.
  4. I know at least one business owner, very successful. Barely made it through high school. And I am highly in favor of people doing what they would just love to do. But I say.. especially with a highly profitable venture, maybe a LITTLE education would enhance one's pleasure in life.. maybe take a class in accounting. Maybe a few more in subjects relevant to one's pursuits. A little knowledge just might give one the tools to find out if they are being financially manipulated or something.. happened to Billy Joel.. all he wanted to do was the music.. lost practically everything..
  5. This cavalier attitude is not isolated to da way, either. It is bizarre.. kind of like some are wearing religious blinders.. that the lord will return, not let us mess stuff up too badly.. all the while they are saddled up with an unsustainable lifestyle. what the "wonders" of capitalism does in China, it would do here, if there were no restraints.. Harrison's "Piggies" comes to mind at the moment..
  6. I think "Liberal Theology" is another name for "them". You know, the ones in the other camp. Over there.. *them*. Not *us*.
  7. Do you have an example of an overly liberal theologian who proclaims anything and everything is "ok"?
  8. The "amazing" part of these kind of claims.. they mostly seem to come from some back-alley somewhere, from little known non-denominational outfits.. with little or no accountability, to anyone. and this claim brands mental illness with the same arbitrary stigma that existed more than two turns of the century ago. People have a hard enough time and issues dealing with depression.. why harrass them with this kind of hocus pocus? I think its a case of "the vicster told me so.." the big "discerning of spirits" guy there learned (practically) all he knows from the vicster's materials.. thankful for his fader in da word..
  9. Maybe that's the best he can do.. or maybe he has a lot of time on his hands lately.. or both.. Yeah, I'd vote on both.
  10. Most of the people in this poll might disagree with you..
  11. We need some kind of modern interpretation of archaic laws.. If it is consumed withing greater than 5000 cubits of one's standing residence, it does not count.
  12. wo.. where do the comment actually GO? I don't see them.. but that's OK..

  13. You are a "seven"

very very likely you've at least looked at this..

my brother is a mathematician as well as I..

    I'm an eleven..

I attract 22's directly, and through bloodline..

my brother chose a 22 as a soul mate..

  14. I'm listening to the same music.. in fact I have been for a long time..

Lost in losing circumstances, that's just where you are..

  15. and with returning veterans, likely finding the job market deplorable, seeking higher education.. and the current administrations emphasis on education.. when I have acquired the master's in math in roughly two or two and a half years, I will be more than EMPLOYABLE. A masters degree, real life experience managing and teaching classes for two years.. one possible class in the program involves some kind of guided internship of sorts, advising industry in some kind of professional manner. of course conditions could change.. and I don't know if I have the stamina for the doctorate, yet..
  16. whoever had a bad time of it.. I'm sorry.. I know it can happen. Taking out student loans and such can be a pretty big gamble. If one does not finish, well.. you still owe. Going the loan route, at a good (or rather expensive) school can put one in debt well over $100,000.00 or so.. but over-all, it looks like people generally had a good experience . And I suppose everything is a gamble as it is. I know one fellow classmate who graduated with a degree in computational math, and passed a pair of actuarial exams. There are NO job opportunities for him, at least in this state, along the lines of actuarial work, anyway.. Myself, I tell this university I'm interested in being a math educator, and they roll out the red carpet.. Between what I get paid in the stipend, and if I work for them in the summer, I make at least what I did in my previous job..
  17. Apprenticeships would count as well. Kinda like trade schools.. still recognized and all. Plumbers, electricians.. etc.. stained glass artists, etc. I think most apprenticeships rank with the quality of trade school, or even better.. Waysider, you can change your vote if you wish. Hit the little delete my vote button, and it will let you vote again. I'll also add an apprenticeship option
  18. I added the associates option.
  19. Note: this applies to ACCREDITED college work only. Other words, no degree mills.. VALID or RECOGNIZED technical or trade schools apply also, though they might lack accredidation- something like ITT, Devries or others, who actually have a GOOD reputation with employers. Skill centers may apply here.. especially ones who offer classes on behalf of certain employers. Corps program does NOT apply.. else we might get the same results as the previous poll.. This is the same format as the last poll. You may vote more than one answer.

    Another poll..

Well.. its up to about twenty one now.. I did give a selection for people who LOVED it.. but apparently we don't have any of those in this particular audience.. another poll is in the works.. we will see how the results compare.
  21. In four or five semesters.. I hopefully will have a masters in math..four semesters of teaching algebra. I would love to teach on a community college level.. algebra, trigonometry, calculus.. differential equations..
  22. Education.. Mathematics..no mistake. That I know of.. :)
