    WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Gee guys...thanks for all your support!!! It went pretty well...dentist is very gentle...he came highly recommended. He hadta use a lot of local anesthesia since the tooth was sideways and into the jaw, so the numbness is only now wearing off. He got most of it out, but there was a stubborn root that took some cutting with something that sounded like a drill (I couldn't see cuz they had my eyes covered). I have ibuprofen 600mg and 325mg codeine and am staying home from school tomorrow, but going Thursday and Friday. Thanks for your concern and support!!!
  4. I've gotta go in to get a wisdom tooth pulled today.... idon'twannaidon'twannaidon'twannaidon'twanna Lessee...there are many roads to Chicago, maybe I'll take the one that leads to anywhere BUT the dentist. ok, ok....I'm goin....I may not come out alive...but I'm goin *whimper*

    Dr Phil

I agree, krys...being gentle but direct, that's one of the things I like about him. I've watched him for months and think he has some great points and some great things to say. I'm not scared away by his success (old waybrain thinking). There are two things that I've seen him do that have impressed me. The first thing was...he was doing a show on desperate housewives...after his first show on this subject aired...a housewife contacted him that is doing things that would "have dcfs on her door before the end of the show". They usually tape excerpts to sum up a situation, and they had in this case, too. But when it came time to air this excerpt, Phil said he wasn't going to. That impressed me. He gave up ratings in favor of one single person. He told the audience that he knows they/we are sitting there wondering what is going on,and he's sorry, but that he feels it is just the right thing to do. He told the guest that he WOULD show that tape...once she had gotten the help she needed, and become the person she wants to be. He said THEN they will show that tape and watch it together in victory, rather than in exposing what she was doing then...especially since that wasn't really HER. (his words) The other thing that impressed me was on this week. There is a girl he's known since she was eleven. Her father killed two of her siblings and went to prison. Her mother went to prison for criminal child abuse. That left her, at the age of eleven with five younger siblings. The courts wanted to break them up....she took it to the media and kept her family together. (They have been living this past seven years with a loving foster family.) She came on the show to ask Dr Phil about going to college. She really wants to, not only for her life but also as a positive example for her siblings, but she is scared that her family will be broken up if she's not there. They talked and she decided to go to college. (Phil had people from the Childrens Defense fund, the girls lawyer, and a few other people who would help her keep her family together.) After she said that, there was the President of a University there from a college not too far from where she lives...with a full scholarship (tuition, room, board, books, and fees) There was also a cell phone company with 6 phones and free phones and service for two years for her and her siblings. And lastly, there was a 2005 Honda for her and fully paid driving lessons from a place near her home. Now all this was nice....nothing out of the ordinary for talk shows, but I thought it was nice. Then I realized something....in all the talk shows I've seen (for instance, Oprah), when the host gives prizes, they make sure they are in almost EVERY camera shot looking giving, teary, smiling, etc... What I realized this time was that in almost every shot...Dr Phil was out of camera range. And one time when the camera caught him...he PURPOSEFULLY stepped out of range. In fact he brought the people who had been the legal and emotional support for this girl onstage and he backed out of the picture. Now that is class.

    more power to ya, hounddog!
  9. I also found Waydale and GS years after I left twi. Was attending "fellowship" with some who still used twi's teachings and doctrines. It was the folks at Waydale that helped me through a really difficult part of my life. They helped by being there with love and support and they helped by helping me to get rid of the waybrain that had locked me into an abusive marriage for thirteen years. They also helped me realize that the "believers" I'd known for nigh onto twenty years who were NOT there when things got "real", weren't believers and sure weren't family of God (or at least certainly didn't act like it). GSC is also, of course, where I met mystevey. We are now living an insanely happy life, mostly waybrain free and enjoying each day that comes along. Mostly thanks to the wonderful people (and even some of the notsowonderful people) of Waydale and GS!

I thought that, too Oeno. I mean I'm all for fun and a sense of humor...but maybe this would be better posted in the Movie, Music, and Humor forum...rather than Open forum.

I like those questions...and I like how he handles people. He treats the person with dignity and respect and he takes the problems seriously. i.e. - the problem is bad...not the person

I've been watching his show for a few months now and I think he is FANTASTIC!!! Anybody else watch him and/or have an opinion on him?
  14. It works really well, I used it in houses where they had to use kosher cleaning products (when I had a housecleaning business). Gets things bright and clean. But I can't STAND that smell!!!!!
  15. Cleaning tip from the ! household: We have our house cleaned once a week!!!! Worth every single penny to come home on Fridays to a sparkling home!!!!!!!! As for clutter...well...they'll be moving out in a few years....WON'T THEY?????? my bad
  16. Since God is a just God and not an enabler, I think it goes beyond the superficial "he's forgiven by God so you should forgive him" There ARE results, ramifications, consequences linked with unhealthy action (i.e. sin for you bible thumpers). In other words...if you do something that hurts someone....in any way....if God has the depth and understanding to him that his nature suggests, then the one committing the wrong does not sweep it under the rug just cause he/she is forgiven. If he/she is truly sorry (as in repentence) then the actions would carry through past the one dimensional ("gee, I'm sorry God"..."ok, you're forgiven son/daughter") And into the "I messed up...I need to set this right." and then the action follows. It's MORE than "ok, I'm forgiven by God...the people I hurt don't matter a damn" It HAS to be more than that...to be truly forgiven by God. (in my opinion) Anything less is Brady Bunch and cartoon depth religion.
  17. A GREAT movie in 3D!!!! We all enjoyed it...kids and adults!!! It would not have been as great without the 3D, though. However...I and the folks I live with all have the ability to view these kinds of things with a child-like perspective. Had we been doctrinal, pragmatic, or anything less than having FUN...we woulda poo-pooed it. As it was....we enjoyed it for what it is...a light hearted journey into xmas and childhood beliefs. LOVED it!!!!
  18. Shell...appetizers, finger food, snacks, hors'duerves
  19. I usually go to em...they are usually kinda fancy with open bars and fairly good food. I've always kinda wished they would be less formal...like at the boss' home with horses-doovers n drink n good company. Lo and behold..this year the party is at our principal's home with horsey-doovers n drink n good company and not fancy 'tall. mystevey is of course goin with me and the buzz amongst the staff is that everyone is REALLY looking forward to it. The down side being that everyone hangs in the kitchen and it gets too crowded. What a great problem to have!!!
  20. Raf, That's what I've heard from people I've talked to, also. The story ain't gonna show up in any academy award nominations...but the 3D details are fantastic. I sure hope this 3D trend continues....would LOVE to see a Harry Potter movie in 3D!!!
  21. Reikilady, thanks for posting info on this it sounds like something worth learning about. So glad that most of us can respect each others beliefs while still holding our own.
  22. Winter Wonderland and anything Bing Crosby sings
  23. We tried to take our kids to see it this past weekend. Got there and it was sold out all day until 9:30 (too late for this teacher-girl). We're gonna buy tickets ahead of time for this weekend. Will report in after seein it.
