no...but mostly because I noticed that the same people were "called upon" time after time I noticed that it had nothing to do with the needs of the people there (as had been disclaimed by leader....) but with whom the leader.... thought would come up with the best "party line" I began noticing this in-rez...and was able to predict with total accuracy whom would be called upon. Once on the field and after getting out and being in an off-.... in Tallahassee, FL...I noticed the same thing. The same people were called on consistently. Spiritual perception and awareness was rarely seen. It was very sad...those who either really had a gift (and I am so NOT saying that *I* had/have that gift, but I saw others who *DID*) or who were unpracticed were ignored.

But only after we had repeatedly tried to get our partners to work on the marriage. To no avail. If a marriage is in trouble and can be saved (i.e. both are willing to work on a good marriage), then the vows hold. But if one or both partners walk away from the vows and will not get help...stick a fork in it...it's done. Life is too short.

I can understand that too. Krys....but in abi's case there is a two income household. The limits that exist with singles do not exist with her. Can you see what I am saying?

I have always HATED communion sessions. Not because I do not value and cherish what Jesus did for us. Not because I do not reverence the sacred value of the blood and body. and Not because I have no patience for ritual. I hated it because it was so FALSE. I'm corps...I was trained in how to GIVE communion. I just have NEVER thought it was something HEAVY that we have to be so damned solemn for. I think it is something that should be CELEBRATED!!!!!!!!! CHRIST DIED FOR US!!!! BREAK OUT THE BEER AND WINE!!!!! Everytime I am at a communion and it is solemn...I want to dance...sing...let it loose! Maybe I'm strange...but the fact that Christ died for us and we are CHILDREN OF GOD...seems a premise for celebration....not long-faced seriousness. I mean...forchristssake...he turned water into wine at a wedding..a party....LET'S PARTY!!!!

We lived in Trenton, NJ and in Chicago, IL in some neighborhoods that rate at the bottom of the evolution poll. There was a drug dealer across the street in our neighborhood in Chicago (we won't even go into how horrible Trenton was....suffice to say it was a PIT of evil), there were shootings in the park, there was a gang house very very nearby. Steve!'s car window was shot out while we were on our honeymoon. All of this was totally unaceptable....we were determined to move, no matter the cost, at the earliest opportunity. While we were in those neighborhoods we put into place a myriad of precautions (mostly common sense). One of the things we did and continue to do is to is establish a family codeword. No matter who it is, what uniform they wear, or what they say...if they do not know the code word for our family....our children do not budge an inch...unless it is to run screaming for *911*. We had one close call with our oldest daughter...but because of our talks with her, the code word, and her own self-worth...she walked away (with a few choice and very appropriate words). We will NEVER settle for the "unsafe" neighborhood again....we moved...whatever the cost....our children are MORE than worth a few extra bucks.

We have a "mega committee" at school where anyone who wants can put in a dollar and our police liason buys the tix when he takes his little one to school. I usually pitch in a dollar because it's fun and BECAUSE I CAN! I don't count on winning the jackpot at all, but like the comraderie amongst the staff of speculations on "what would we do with the money?" However...the stock market...that Steve! and I take seriously!!!
