  3. Shell...you might want to check with the school before buying a digital camera. A. they might already have one B. there are problems with posting student pictures on the internet sometimes, so you would need to check with the principal
  4. For my eighth graders, I am beginning a unit on the Holocaust using the book Briar Rose by Jane Yolen. I have taught this book before, but somehow in all of our moving around, I can find NONE of the materials I had. Though I have managed to reconstruct a lot of them, I am still missing some stories on the holocaust, info and pictures on Chelmno, and pictures of different things from the holocaust. I always start off the unit with biographies of children from the holocaust, both survivors and victims...and I've reconstructed that. Briar Rose is an analogy between the Holocaust and Sleeping Beauty. Any help, materials, info you might have would be helpful!!! There is a story about a synagogue being burned, a teen in the ghettos, and a young person (not Anne Frank) from a concentration camp that I particularly want to find. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. St Augustine, FL is great for history, a village that has blacksmiths, bakers, and etc, great restaurants, and the beach! It's a lovely town near Jacksonville.

    Poems needed...

I am starting a poetry unit in my 7th grade classes (my 8th graders are doing something else). I have 19 pages of poems ready from a bunch of poems I could think of. What I need are a few more poems...they do not have to rhyme, but they do have to be at a level that 7th graders can grasp. Any suggestions???
  12. With 75 per prize, the following would be welcome in my classroom ANYtime: VCR DVD player Teacher Store gift certificate printer Since it's elementary school, there are probably plenty of materials needed for projects, videos, software, etc. I think I'd ask teachers in the school what they would like to get a really really good idea.
  13. Steve and I are setting the beginning time for the party at 4:00 on Saturday, April 23rd. (THIS Saturday!!!!) Let us know if you want to stay with us or want us to give you the phone number for the hotel nearby.
  14. Amen to that, April is a TOUGH month to travel!!!! We were SOOO honored so many made it for our wedding!!!

  16. April 23rd is just around the corner!!! If you're game for a party, there's still time to chime in to the planning going on! Let Steve! or I know if you can come!
  17. Unless a person is ready and wants to see reality, they just won't. So even if, after getting free of twiTS you are hugely happy, have a great family life, a great career, and still love God...those who are blinded by false doctrines will STILL say that you are not happy. Or that of course you THINK you are doing better...it's just the "adversary" isn't scared of you anymore, so he's "letting" you prosper to lure others away from Gods true household. If a person wants to be blinded, they will blinded. BUT...you never know what God is working in their hearts to get them to freedom!
  18. Chas.. When I had four young children at home, which more often than not included a baby, I had a schedule for us to follow. I don't remember the exact schedule, but I do remember the gist. The reason I did a schedule was because young kids, when they know exactly what to expect, do a bit better at self-directed play. I would have story time, bible verse time (when we memorized a bible verse), music time (we'd dance, sing, make up silly songs, etc.), craft time (we'd draw, paint, use playdough, etc.), nap time, video time. Interspersed would be self-directed play in a certain area of the house, helping mommy with clean-up and putting away laundry, snuggling...LOTS of snuggling, and just time to talk. There was also nap time, meal times, and snack times. I would also have the kid-sized kitchen, broom and dustpan, and all that kinda stuff. Kids LOVE feeling grown up and helping mommy clean the house! Our library had videos on every subject you can name...so once a week or so we'd go there and each child would pick out one or two and everyone would watch them. We learned about different countries, how to cook all kinds of foods, how to fix all kinds of things...just any how-to or educational video would get watched over and over again. And one night a week or so, each child could pick what the family would do (my husband at the time did not participate in this). These things were good for them on many levels. Not only did they have a chance to learn and practice new skills, but they learned how to plan things, and how to schedule themselves so they would be ready for the next activity. *Had to go supervise in-school suspension before I finished this.
  19. dmiller...ok, we'll interpret... part of this is inscribed on our wedding bands, the last two symbols we added today ily, tmd, ats, +i means... I love you truly, madly, deeply, and then some, plus infinity and the &f we added today means: and forever Steve answered with dab muchly, which means ditto and back at you, MUCHLY!!! Now you have the interpretation...wanna count the syllables???? --> When Steve and I communicate via aol im or email, we talk in mostly acronyms, cuz we always know what the other is saying. Sowwy we confused ya!!!
  20. Who can believe a whole year has passed since our wedding? It seems to have FLOWN by. I've never been happier, safer, more content, more excited, more ready to meet each new day, or more glad I wear your ring. This truly is turning out to be a "happily ever after". Thank you, my darling for making my life complete. ily, tmd, ats, +i&f
