We have family breakfasts Sunday mornings and are running short of recipes. Any suggestions???

Scout, We got one as a wedding gift...it's a Hamilton Beach 14 speed blender. We've used it heavily over the last year and three months for smoothies, margaritas, cooking, and all kinds of things. It's held up beautifully.

One of our kids is turning 13 and we are gonna throw a murder mystery party. We've found one we think is great...but then I thought about all the posters at GS. Anyone given a murder mystery party? Any favorites? Tips? Ideas?

"Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" release date announced
Cindy! replied to Steve!'s topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
Butterbeer ( from the We Love Harry Potter book, by Sharon Moore) "I like the name "Butterbeer" and wanted to taste it. I heard that some kids staged a protest against banning the Harry Potter books at their school and they made Butterbeer and drank it. Here's how I tried to make it. First, I took some root beer and put some butter in it and heated it in the microwave until the butter melted. Then I stirred it and tried it. It tasted good, but it was warm and it wasn't fizzy anymore. Then I tried heating the butter first until it melted, heating the root beer just a little bit and stirring them together. That worked pretty well. My friend Sancho thought we could melt down a lot of butterscotch Life Savers, but they just melted into puddles and then got hard again when we took them out of the microwave. We tried stirring the melted butter into ginger ale and it really tasted good, but I don't think you could call it Butterbeer. We tried putting cream in it, too, the kind they put in coffee, and that was even better. It was also good in the root beer. But again I don't think you could call it Butterbeer. from Manny Mauricio, 9 years old" My daughter, Katryna made some from this passage and I tasted it...was pretty good! -
First let me clarify something. I am certainly not advocating putting someone's full name in posts, but rather using the symbols and etc. that have been used up until this point when posting about someone (and which keeps them from showing up on a Google). Let me also clarify that I very much agree with you about the rumors. In the thread on ordained women, I brought up a person who did do significant damage to me. It was ignored in favor of rumors of sexual misconduct (which, is the hearsay I spoke of in my other post) and my deep hurt was buried and then erased because of those who threw rumors into the works. It was out of line, immature, and totally overshadowed the real and very deep damage that person did to me personally, first hand, no rumors involved. Now...onto those three points: By that I mean if they are going on to hurt someone else in the context of the post or thread. (i.e. through twi 1 and/or 2 tactics) I agree that this would be a problem, if full names are used or even sometimes if a partial name is used. Rather than the moderators going in to change where all the names are posted...why not allow individual posters to do that by directing those who email you to the original posters? After all...if they were posted about...perhaps they need to deal directly with someone they have done damage to. I see where it is the moderators job to keep things real, non-threatening, and fair. But how far should that job extend? I totally get that what is posted here is in Pawtucket's sphere of activity. And if a lawsuit is threatened, it certainly behooves us at GS to remove whatever it is that would lead us to court. But I totally don't get why we should enforce, in a community concerned with getting over the many hurts and deep damage done by a cult, the protection of those who did that damage when we are not immediately threatened with a law suit. I, as a poster, who has been edited once or twice by moderators at GS would have been happy to edit my own posts had I been told via email or pt or whatever that it was needed.

Here is a diet I've used that works really well. The major plus side is that you get weekends FREE!!!! It's low fat, low dairy, low red meat, very very low sugar. Now, that doesn't mean that you go nuts and eat any and everything you want...just means that you get that time to satisfy those cravings that might make you stray. I usually use something to kick-start me...like now I'm using the Fat Burning Soup diet to get me started...then next Monday, I'll begin this one: Breakfast 2 pieces of 12 grain bread with unsweetened applebutter non-caloric beverage Lunch (pick one each day) Potato with ½ cup cottage cheese, vegetable salad 1 cup Lentil Soup (Progresso is the best), 2 pieces pumpernickel bread (or one pumpernickel bagel), vegetable salad Shrimp Cocktail (8-10 medium shrimp), crackers, vegetable salad (no-fat dressing), (fat free cocktail sauce) 2 pieces of bread, 2 oz turkey, mustard, lettuce, tomato (no mayonnaise), one small pickle 1 cup Split Pea Soup (again, Progresso is the best), 2 pieces rye bread (or one rye bagel), vegetable salad (no-fat dressing) Potato with ½ cup cottage cheese, vegetable salad (This is eaten two times a week) Dinner 1 cup no-fat spaghetti sauce, 1 cup spaghetti, vegetable salad (no-fat dressing) 1 chicken breast, medium sweet potato, green vegetable 1 serving of broiled or grilled fish, baked potato, yellow vegetable Chicken stir fry – 3 oz chicken cut up, bean sprouts, cabbage, onion, zucchini, and other veggies as desired), 1 cup brown rice (you can use chicken broth w/spices and corn starch for sauce) 4 oz beef steak, vegetable (no potato), dinner roll Taco Salad (1 cup ground turkey, lettuce, tomato, olives, non-fat sour cream, salsa, one handful tortilla chips) Desserts Two nights a week you may have 4 oz of Frozen Yogurt when you have not had a milk product that day. You can have sugar free Jello ANYTIME

Exactly, Oak...and that was hearsay...not a first hand account. If it's hearsay...it could well be inaccurate. Only first hand accounts should be allowed to remain. However....on that thread I did make mention of my own experience with that person that was very very bad. That would be a first person account...and first person accounts are not hearsay or slander.

But doesn't the disclaimer regarding the views and opinions of the posters not reflecting the views of GS guard Paw from libel suits? It did in the law book the lawyer I asked looked at.
-
That's a very valid quandry. Here are my thoughts, for what they are worth... If the person being talked about is not a GS poster and has done damage, folks should be free to post their first-person accounts on GS unless or until that person shows up at GS and is willing to "face the music" If the person being talked about is a GS poster and has done something to someone through twi 1 or 2, it should be addressed privately and only brought public if they are going on to hurt someone else. If the person being talked about is a GS poster and the issue is personal (i.e. marriage, divorce, kids, etc.) that should not be discussed on GS unless the person being talked about has given their public consent.

I don't get the change goin on here. Before if they were ordained and/or "leaders" the names would be changed a bit to avoid search engines. Now...if it's not someone currently in twi or a trustee/director past or present it's not allowed. Yet that leaves out those who were corps coordinators, ordained, state or region coordinators and etc. Not tryin to make trouble...just very confused at the sudden changes. Isn't GS in large part to air things that happened and get healing? How then can this happen if the people who did the damage cannot be discussed cuz they didn't have the proper title according to this thread?

We !'s will be at the Oakspear/Reiki wedding, too...so no weenie roast again this year!!! Why not visit the wedding instead of doing a roast this year and then do a roast next year???

bout 300 miles, I think Cowgirl

Another tasty thing for the soup diet is...on the second day it's all vegies, and leafy greens are encouraged. I sauteed fresh spinach in a bit of water and added some fresh hot pepper, cumin, garlic, and kosher salt. On the fresh salad...a simple lemon vinaigrette.. 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, 1 tsp kosher salt, 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper. both are MOST yummy! (sorry to interrupt, cowgirl --> )

I really think it was pre-arranged by Dumbledore and Snapes beforehand (remember the argument between them that was witnessed but not overheard?). THAT way, they would freeze Harry so that he would not get hurt while they did the pre-arranged pattern that made it LOOK like DD died, Fawkes grieving and the picture in the headmasters office would all have been part of the plan. I think Harry and Dumbledore will both return to Hogwarts by the end of book 7.

wg...you have a perfect right to feel the way you do, according to your experiences with [name deleted] I ALSO have a perfect right to feel the way I do according to my experiences with [name deleted] If you think it's nasty, so be it...but since you do not know anything about why I would say that, have not considered that there is a very good reason I would say that, and have not asked...we leave it there. (and since my experience had NOTHING to do with sexual favors, I take it that your comment about that was not directed at me, wg)

[deleted by the moderator] Note to Cindy: I accidentally deleted the whole post, instead of just the name.

If you are doing the fat burning soup diet, to make the soup tastier...remember that herbs are free of calories!!! To our soup we added rosemary, taragon, basil, cumin, celery powder, cayenne, and a few extra hot peppers (we did not use the lipton onion soup packet). Made the taste MUCH more enjoyable. On the day when you eat bananas and drink skim milk, Steve! and I had to find a way that we can do that (we both don't like milk). So we are freezing the bananas and makin banana smoothies with the skim milk.
