  1. Thurman Munson was the captain of the NY Yankees from 76-79, and had an impressive record in his baseball career. He was also killed in a small plane he was piloting in August of 1979, a plane he was learning to fly in his home in Canton, Ohio. So this is a double blow for the Yankees, with two players lost in the same manner.
  2. No, it's not Karen Allen. This person potrayed a well known comic character, and that's the clue I'm going for. You've almost got it!!!
  3. Bloomberg just held a press conference and says only the two people on the plane were killed: no one in the building was hurt: some firefighters were slightly hurt. He says the occupents of the plane were a student and a flight instructor: he is not confirming the identity of the pilot. Since this is the Nostaglia thread, anyone remember Thurman Munson?
  4. Yes, Kathy-very tragic. It appears to be a small plane piloted by a New York Yankee starting pitcher, Cory Lidel (sp). Reports are that there were two other people killed in the plane, and one person in the building. The building is a residential apartment building, very expensive condo's (author Carol Higgins Clark is one of the residents.) Reports are that the pilot did issue a distress call before crashing, and the plane was flying irratically before crashing. Prayers for the Yankees and members of the family who lost loved ones today.
  5. :) "Little early in the day for a beer, isn't it, Norm?" "So float a cornflake in it."
  6. Yep-one of many favorite Normisms. Hope it made you smile. :)
  7. "It's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milkbone underwear."
  8. Happiest of Birthdays to you, Bluz! Have a great day!
  9. Happy birthday, Bluz! Yes, I have it...can't wait to share.
  10. You guys!!!! Nice to see ya, Flow! Rhino, Rhino, Rhino! :) Ok...back to our regularly scheduled program............
  11. Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (Think I have a copy of that around here..... ) (Edited to fix order of characters-I put the boys together and the girls together-now that would be different movie altogether!)
  12. That sound never fails to give me chills. I know what you're saying, Sudo. There are just some parts of this great nation of ours that have more "flavor" than others. Shall always be a Texas gal in my heart........
  13. Whole bunch of elephants in Pete's house, including babies. I swear baby elephants can smile!
  14. So that's why my first fiance was a navy man!!! I was brainwashed early on!! BTW-she was a South Philly chick-where all decent music is born.....
  15. Yep, you all are in the right classroom. That young man sure accumalated quite an acting resume through the years. The principal also went on to other roles, including Lucy's boss. Here's a piece of trivia: Did you know that, just like the nightly news, there were some shows that only ran for 15 minutes? Of course, some of those same shows didn't last very long. A very well known and beloved movie actor actually starred in one that lasted all of three months in 52-53. Doubt it was on long enough for anyone to notice. But we sure remember him, and I never saw him in a lemon.
  16. Not completely accurate, Kat. The final reports indicate an unknown ignition source which filled the cabin with smoke, and in attempting to bring the plane down the pilots clipped wires which spun them in. The final theory of the fire was a faulty cabin heater, which was known to cause problems on DC-3's. I recall all the drug stories: the media got a whiff of that and blew it up to mythical propotions as being the cause of the crash. Typical. Ok: during the same ryear as this show was another, which I would love to see on DVD. This one starred a well known wise-cracking schoolteacher. She was always after a particular co-worker, and came up with one of many ideas to get his attention: Female one: Give Mr. ***** a subtle hint or two. Female two: Like what, for instance? Female one: Tell him you're sick and tired of being single. Female two: Oh, thats fine-or maybe I could dump a bowl of rice on his head and whistle the wedding march.
  17. "Well, uh, gosh-what do you think, Harriet?" :) Yes, oh, yes-the simple days. Ya know, I always thought he looked better in black & white.
  18. Turn thyself from Wayspeak to Tina speak-"You're simply THE BEST....Better than all the rest!" There-isn't that better??? :)
  19. Kinda like being in the chat room some nights, huh, David?

    White Dove

Another thread lost in cyber mail. Sigh. Happy belated birthday, dear Dove. Glad you had a good time. You are a special person and I wish for you many more days to spread your wings and soar!
  21. Maybe everybody's waiting for the croc to strike again! I get as nervous as the animal's do when they lean over to drink. Wonder if the croc's (or alligator, what do I know) name is Pete and that's why it's Pete's Pond? The camera work could be better-tends to be out of focus or not as attentive as the other cam, but when he gets it right, it's great.
  22. I like doing things without thought-takes the stres out of decision making. Bluz: Is that by any chance "Shooting Star" that Benitar sang at the 40th birthday tribute to Harry? I have it, I love it, and is an example of one of the things I would love to share. I look forward to hearing what you have. Thanks, Kathy and Sudo, for your words of encouragement.
