As long as we allow our bodies to keep up with our brain, I think this group is one that will keep trying new things-we have a lot to make up for! This has probably been mentioned, but these are some of my signs that I had reached a certain age. 1. Haven't watched the Grammy's in years 'cause I don't recognize any of the artists. 2. Paying attention to the Centrum Silver commercials. 3. Ears perk up when I here "If you are between the ages of...." 4. Rejected by online surveys because I'm not in the age group they want. 5. Laminating my AARP card. 6. Finding things I own in an antique store. 7. Moving from the third floor to the first.

Agreed: I don't really know how his image was communicated to new people who came to TWI after his death, but while I was in (70's, early 80's) we knew to respect him as the President and Founder, and as the teacher, but not worship. I think you can respect someone's position without resorting to the worship level that other group's demand. We gave the glory to God. If people "worshipped" VP, then they probably worshipped Rocky Road ice cream, too. It would have made as much sense.

Have mercy on CKM. Some have to be brought kicking and screaming to the truth. We all did, I suppose, at one time or another. CKM, please look around with an open mind. Your contempt for those who are responding to you is showing, and that is no way for people to want to listen to what you may have to say. The archives may be old (some of it) but that doesn't change the content of what's in them. If you have some recent material from TWI that you want to present to enlighten posters, well, I'm sure we would look forward to seeeing it.

I don't know why you would think that, Ex. I came from a similiar background and I can tell you that by the time I took the class (at the tender age of 17) I was in no way mentally mature enough to know anything (probably had a mental IQ of about 12). Many from an abusive background can go on to do what needs doing as far as keeping body and soul together (I know I somehow did) but in dealing with relationships and the world, not so much. And now we are introduced to a body of "believers" who pawned themselves off as true men and women of God. They were the jerks: either not recognizing the special needs of people in our position, or not caring, or worse, taking criminal advantage of the situation in the name of God! They were the jerks: to think that we were just victimizes ourselves. I think that's what gets Weirwillites mad: they can't seem to recognize the harm that was created within the atmosphere of "loving". I had several circumstances with other leaders who believed that I would advance my spiritual growth if I would just allow them to show me how to be "released" from my prisons. Ha! If others never had to deal with those situations, well, God bless them. They can consider themselves lucky. For the rest of us, who had to duck and weave our way through our experience, while still trying to cling to the party line, it ain't that easy. But, believe, the ones who put us thru that deserve no mercy. Sorry, it makes me mad to think that we should somehow be held accountable for OUR actions. BS!!!!

I've been lots of places (for real) in my life, so TWI life isn't predominate on my view list. Having said that-anybody found good 'ol Way Camp in Gunnison yet? North, South, East, West of the town? I never drove there myself so I can't figure out where it is. Just curious. Just love the whole thing. I've traveled the Grand Canyon, saw Tienniman Square, saw Red Square, Big Ben, Japan, Iowa Jima, Berlin, Holland, on and on. What a great treat! Thanks for pointing the way!

CKM, Welcome! I think I understand your desire to just want to "hear" the Word. After I officially left the ministry, I wanted to do that, too. There are many places available if that is your desire. And, as others have suggested, the Doctrinal forum here is a great place to have open discussions about the Bible. There are many people who post here who are very well educated and articulate in voicing their beliefs. What happens on the rest of Greasespot is a discussion of how the doctrinal practices of the Way resulted in the harm to people's lives. It is designed to allow people who have been out to have a place to heal. It is a place to allow people in who may want out to get information that has been withheld from them. And it is a place for people wanting to get in to be forewarned so they can make an educated decison. If the Word is "burning in your heart" I'm sure your viewpoint would be welcome. But please be understanding of those of us who want to "burn the garbage out", and therefore need to be here for that purpose. Keep looking. You'll find what you need. Top
