  1. The nice thing about prayer, or having a relationship with God, is knowing that I can reach out anytime, anywhere, and in any setting. Face it-pray is a mental exercise, not a physical one. There are times in our lives when things happened which will literally drive us to our knees. In my experience, when those occasions have happened, it's been a physical reaction to an overwhelming emotion situation. I know that during those moments, it was never a covert thought of "if I drop down, I'll be closer to God". It just was a purely natural reaction to the moment.
  2. My local City Council was confronted by several citizens in their bi-monthly meeting last week. The mayor (actually a fairly decent guy) is facing a recall election because his vice major ran against him and lost, and decided to take it personally. Their issues have split the council into camps, and the infighting has been rather vicious and unfortunately, public. During the last meeting, the concerned citizens, including two former mayors, confronted the council on their public airings of their problems. The comments were made calmly but pointly. No one wants to see a recall, because it would take the city too long to recover, and during that time the issues facing the city would fall by the wayside. One of the former mayors summed up how he felt the council should act. He said, very simply, "You can disagree, without being disagreeable." Somehow this thread came to mind. For what it's worth.
  3. That Ann Murray song got me through a few bad days too, Suda. So did this one. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor At first I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinkin' I could never live without you by my side; But then I spent so many nights Thinkin' how you did me wrong And I grew strong I learned how to get along. And so you're back from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed that stupid lock I should have made you leave your key If I'd've known for just one second you'd back to bother me Go on now go, walk out the door Just turn around now ('cause) you're not welcome anymore Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye Did you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die? Oh no, not.I. I will survive Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive; I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give and I'll survive, I will survive. Hey hey. It took all the strength I had not to fall apart Kept trying' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart, And I spent oh so many nights Just feeling sorry for myself. I used to cry But now I hold my head up high And you see me somebody new I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you, And so you feel like droppin' in And just expect me to be free, Now I'm savin' all my lovin' for someone who's lovin' me I'm free again!
  4. "...all those doggies are just lined up making sure that the poor little kitty makes it's way safely to where it's going..." That's very sweet, Tom-good way to make a postitive statement.
  5. I sent that picture to another poster months ago to express how I felt about sticking my toe in water. I knew it was time to stop lurking, but boy was I scared! "Maybe the dogs aren't really evil, and just want to play with the cute lilttle diddy dat?" I think that may be accurate.

    Still a youngster.........
  7. Dullest Sam Your guy? Dullest Uncle A Guy? (Ok, Ok-decided to give it another whack.)
  8. How about "The Decade of the Prevailing Cover-Up?" I mean, they got so good at it at it-why not teach the keys to others?
  9. Very funny! Not quite sure why Barney is a threat, but.... Must be something in the Kool-Aid.
  10. Dear Year2027, Great thoughts! I notice in your list that through all your pain, you did not list blaming or condeming yourself. That shows someone very self-assured and of great character. Thanks for your ability to rise above it all.

  12. Oilfield, those pictures are priceless! I wish this was the side of the events we could see on nightly news! God bless you all: The heart of the best of our country are clearly showing!
  13. Praying for you, Chef... and {{{David}}}-I didn't know about your loss-I'm so sorry.....
  14. Thank you for sharing, Abi. I can appreciate how difficult that was for you. I doubt things have changed: issues with men and women (especially young ones) have been going on since the dawn of time: just the names have changed. All that can be done is to continue to educate and communicate issues such as the ones you've brought up
  15. TO: Permit Clerk 1007 RE: Permit Clerk 25 Message received. The birds are on the way to Clerk 25's domicle. Thank you for considering my offer. Sincerely, Hitch
  16. I, too, want to thank Paw for bringing this issue up. This forum is to important to risk having it closed off. There was a comment by someone in chat a while back about not coming here anymore because there is no new information, and the same things just get chewed on over and over. If we can't give new people the benefit of the doubt, then we will be going in circles forever. I wouldn't want to see a "kumbaya" atmosphere, but it's got to improve over what it has become.
  17. Well said, Socks and Excie! I'd love to get over a lot of stuff, but sometimes my darn brain has different ideas. Tell me how to avoid the "triggers" (a smell, a quote, a song) and I'd be blissfully happy. When something physical has happened to your body, it's a daily reminder of something that went wrong-and the challenges to overcome. You can't forget what happened-you have to learn to work with it-and it's not always easy. When things that occurred were mental-that's a whole different work around. Nobody can tell just by looking at you that you have some issues (well, unless your drooling ).
  18. Those were great! More, more!
  19. Geez-I was wondering how to succeed in Vegas! Thanks, Suda! I'm booking my plane ticket right now!
  20. TO: Permit Clerk 1007 RE: Overrun of Tribbles Dear sir: I am offering my pest control services for your Tribble investation. I have a large number of winged creatures which can dispatch those critters in no time. If you would prefer to keep the furry little munchkins, my collection can be put to good use providing turbine services for your product. As a by-product of that service, they also produce large amounts of quality fertilizer for the elaborate landscaping project you are probably developing to enhance your property. Sincerely, Alfred Hitchcock
