  2. For Spring............. The sun is on fire In the sky And in its warmth Flowers open In the garden And the butterfly Flutters by. - Stanley Cook
  3. ROFLMAO!!!!! Yeh, at the risk of being "closed minded" I have no desire to see the movie either. I'd rather not confuse my image of John Wayne. Wonder what he would'd done if he'd ridden up on those two?
  4. Thanks, Safari! Lunch was great. Need something else with that pie........
  5. Must be showing my age to remember Lee Meriwether.

    My grad

Congrats, Evan! You must be so proud!
  9. One day Lone Ranger and his side kick Tonto were out riding when Lone Ranger had to relieve himself. So Lone Ranger goes over to the bush, pulls down his pants ,and then screams. He runs over to Tonto and says, "Tonto I've been bitten by a snake on my penis! Go to town and ask the doctor what to do." So Tonto rides to town and goes to the doctor and says "Doctor, Lone Ranger has been bit by a snake! What do I do?" The doctor looks at Tonto and says, "You take a knife and make an x on the spot where he was bit, then you suck out the venim." Tonto thanks the doctor and rides back to Lone Ranger and Lone Ranger asks "What did the doctor say?" Tonto looks at Lone Ranger and says "Doctor say you gonna die!"
  10. Ck: Ever heard the old saying "You point a finger at me, you are pointing three back at yourself?" What do you think you are accomplishing? Do you really think anyone will respond to you by thumping on our heads? It won't happen, my young friend. You will reap what you sow. Your motives have nothing to do with spreading your version of God's word. You seek only to judge and criticize. Your heart has turned to stone. There are people here who were hurt-terribly. Did you read my story? Do you know that through the horror I endured, I never heard ONE WORD from the man you are lauding to the skies? My experience took place while I was seeking to fulfill his requirements for participation in the Corps program. It was inexcusible, and took me years to recover. So what smart answer do you have for that? This was a man that I looked up to and trusted for my well-being, my surrogate Father. And in the worst moments of my life, not only was he nowhere to be found, the leadership around him ignored me as well. No help, no comfort, no counseling-NOTHING. And for years, I blamed myself. It took GS to help me heal. How dare you call this place and this extraordinary group of people wicked? How dare you? Quoting Bible verses doesn't impress me one bit. My mother wore a cross around her neck while she beat the living crap out of me on a daily basis. It's the heart and attitude and actions behind speaking the words that makes an impact.
  11. My prayers for your dishwasher!
  12. It's days like this when I'm glad I invested in a computer! Thanks, Cowgirl and WhiteDove! That's too cool!
  13. Happiest of birthdays, Suda-Have a great One!
  14. Good for you, WW! Many happy returns for your future!
  15. I hate people in front of me that drive too slow. I hate people behind me who drive too fast. I hate products that promise one thing and deliver something completely different. (Anybody tried a Swiffer Carpet Flick?) I hate TV promos that make a show or movie sound so good-but falls flat on delivery. I hate those seals on CD's and DVD's that are designed to frustrate you to no end.
  16. I miss it too, Rumrunner. The best friendships of my life were made during those times. And the atmosphere of fun and caring was a huge motivating factor in sinking our lives into the circus of Wayworld. Unfortunately, it all got swallowed into the sinkhole of lies, betrayal and personal destruction. I would, however, like to be able to relate what good experiences I did have without getting slammed for doing that. (Not that I've been slammed, but I've seen snide remarks made about people who do.) Who the !!el else could I possibly talk to about those times except for people who were there? So, I'll treasure the good times (the ROA, the good twigs and Way homes, the good WOW moments, the time we dressed up my car to be the Mystery train so we could be a float in a college parade), etc. I won't forget the bad times, and won't want anyone else to go through them. That's why I'm here. But like WWII vets, only people who were there can truly understand what we went through, and if I want to share it, I will. The seventies were vastly different from the eighties. And the nineties were horrifically different from the eighties. So what gets shared (IMHO) is based on the backdrop of the times you experienced.
  17. I, unfortunately, have no relationship with my mother-never had. I therefore admire the strong woman who take that role sweetly and gladly, and let their love shine in the eyes of their children. To all of you who proudly wear the title of "Mom"-I salute you!
  18. That was terrific! I also appreciated the nod to the Brady kids. I have to admit I got a little lost at the end, not easily recognizing some of the later tunes, but it was a great performance.
  19. Sloopy DippinDoodle reporting as ordered! I wonder if this is how Englebert Humperdink got his name?
  20. Just to add to the discussion: I had a work situation in my younger days that culminated in a wise gentlemen making an interesting observation about the differences between men and women. He said "Suppose two people were given a project to do that required a written report. They then had to take the report to their supervisor for approval. The first person, a man, presented his report and was promptly blasted back in his chair for all the errors that the supervisor found. The man walked out of the room, combing his hair back into place, but thinking about what was wrong with the contents of the report and how to fix it. "Next came the second report, this time presented by a woman. She receives the exact same treatment at the hands of the supervisor, but when she walks out of the room, she is, instead, wondering what is wrong with her." I've thought of that analogy a lot through the years, and see it echoed in my own actions. Whether you agree with the analogy or not, there is some truth to it, and it can explain a lot of things in both the interoffice and interpersonlal relationships we deal with on a daily basis. While the men around me will take the report, throw it off the bridge, and start over again, I (and some of the women I have worked with) are more likely to want to throw ourselves of the bridge. The report didn't fail, we failed. It takes time, maturity, and passing a lot of bridges to get past that and see it for what it is.
  21. Yeah, Dooj and daughter! Can't wait to hear about the next sucesses!
  22. {{{WhiteDove}}} Talking about her in chat a few weeks ago reminded me of seeing her posts when I first arrived at GreaseSpot. She brought a very loving and human touch into this unique living room, and made it feel okay to be here. I'm sorry I never had a chance to really get to know her. For those of you who did, how blessed your lives were. Thinking of all of you......
  23. Well, if you do get stuck in Phoenix, you, me and Biker Babe can do our own mini GGGW party!
  24. Last time I ever make a blanket prediction! It was a shocker-as much for Kat as for Chris. I honestly think for raw talent and vocal ability, Chris has much more than the rest of the field. Kat forgetting her lyrics at this stage of the competition I thought was the ticket home. It'll be interesting. I'm glad Taylor has lost that bizarre shoulder shake: in the beginning, it made him noticed, but then just became annoying (IMO). He has grown professional, and has shown he can hold his own. Anybody think that the judges comments tend to "steer" the voting? 'Course, it didn't work as far as Kat was concerned, but they were being hard on Chris-and he's gone.
