I'm sure you must count your blessings every day. Glad you've got a little piece of paradise on earth of your very own. Love, Envious City Dweller

Aw, Rhino-those are great!

Hmmm...I thought dropping acid was out of style.

That's a great article, Whitedove-thanks for posting it. It is amazing to think that he was 24 when that song was written-what does any 24 year old know about life 40 years hence? Yet this song always had that wistful edge of understanding to it. His greatest accomplishment seems to be his children-and that is the greatest legacy he and Linda will share when they are together again. I feel bad for what he's going through now-hope he finds his way through without too much bitterness. Happy birthday, Paul!

Happiest of days to you, dear Dooj-and many more happy ones to come!

Well-you're half right! It's amazing what happen's when a woman passes a certain age. I was always skinny-bone thin, as some would say. Then, in a matter of months, even with my hectic schedule and eating habits (less than a bird would dine on) it started packing on. I'm still within the range that experts say is normal-but it is abnormal for me. I'm not used to having to think twice about what and when I eat. Oh well-they say men like women with a little meat on their bones-maybe there's hope for me after all.

Happy Birthday!! (And many more!)

You're welcome, Cowgirl. Glad I could help (sorta). Now you'll have to tell us the backstory-if you figure it out, that is!

Well, the second lines immediately made me think of Foreigner.... In my life there's been heartache and pain I don't know if I can face it again Can't stop now, I've traveled so far, to change this lonely life I want to know what love is, I want you to show me I want to feel what love is, I know you can show me ....but the first lines you mentioned-not in this song. Hmm-quoting more than one song, perhaps?

I live alone, George.....guess I took your advice years ago. To me, sexy is overrated. Passions fade with familiarity. Looks fade with time. Life itself is a long term individual committment, let alone trying to do it with someone else at your side. If a man thinks I am worth protecting, thinks enough of me to put his foot on the line when it counts, well, that's pretty sexy to me. And hard to find out over a few cocktails in a bar.

Igotout, Same here. Thank for the tip. Any "computer for dummies" tips on what items should remain checked? I'm running XP.

It's an old folklore oft-repeated but never proved-and, according to lore, it happened in Haarlem. To please Americans who always want to know where Hans Brinker saved the dam, the Dutch (God bless them) have set up many statues around the town like this one. "Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates" was one of my favorite childhood books. Have a great time, Hope!

Actually I did. When they showed the live shot, I did a double take.

I am so sorry, Abigal. It is very difficult to lose a dear friend after so many years. It takes courage to make a decision to end the suffering of your beloved pet. My heart and prayers are with you and your family through this time of grieving.
