Congrats, Ron! Oh, the little things of life that are so big if we don't have them!! Bath Song by JRR Tolkien Sing hey! For the bath at close of day that washes the weary mud away A loon is he that will not sing O! Water Hot is a noble thing! O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain, and the brook that leaps from hill to plain; but better then rain or rippling streams is Water Hot that smokes and steams. O! Water cold we may pour at need down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed but better is beer if drink we lack, and Water Hot poured down the back. O! Water is fair that leaps on high in a fountain white beneath the sky; but never did fountain sound so sweet as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Guess a only true hockey fan would appreciate that!

Jonny, you have restored my faith in your true innocence of heart and soul. OMG, I've been rolling reading all this! Thanks for the laugh!

It's never far from my thoughts, either. I do agree with Krys about people who weren't there not really understanding what you all went through. I wasn't there-I was in Baltimore working in one of our branch locations. I'd flown in on Monday. My memories are horror and fear. Baltimore was shut down for a day-nobody in-nobody out. Streets deserted. Fear from the branch manager for his family, who lived near Camp David and heard in one of the earlier reports that a plane had gone down there. Fear from all of us before that when we heard that another plane was on it's way to Washington-30 miles away. Crying myself to sleep that night with CNN on. As one of the traveling public, I couldn't get a flight home to Dallas on Friday. My boss didn't understand why I didn't try to get out earlier, but I told her that I was there to do a job and had to see it through. Work was the best therapy, and helped keep the people around me focused. But truly, I only wanted to be home with familiar surroundings. Went to BWI on Friday to check on flights-no go. Wound up driving to Atlanta on Friday and got on a plane to home Saturday. Flight attendents in tears. People somber yet ultra-patient. Airport atmosphere tense, but not one complaint. Dogs, guns, green uniforms everywhere. And it stayed that way for a long time. It was interesting-those first few months. I still had to fly for my job every week, and the airports were amazingly different. Almost everyone that flew during that time did it because they had too, not because they wanted too, and it made for a unique camaraderie. Everyone you met had a story, some heartbreaking. It did seen that the farther west you went, the less people were affected. That was my impression, anyway. None of us could have any comprehension what it was like for New Yorkers. The media did what it could to bring us the story (and did a good job, IMO) but our stories pale in comparison to being there.

Yep, I look forward to Sudo's gems on Nostalgia. He never belittle's anyone's efforts. And I've noticed his concerns for other posters who may be facing a medical crisis. Sudo, you are a real gentleman.

Paw is amazing. He works voluntarily. He never complains. He joins in on the fun when he can. He protects us so we can be free with each other. And (as I believe I recently discovered), he is a caring, sensitive person. Thank you, Paw. You are aces. Thank you, Wordwolf. Great idea.

Oilfield, you are the man!!!

Your opinion counts for a lot, Suda! Thanks-very well said.

Pipes, I am in tears over that song/poem from Dancing. Thank you, Dancing, and thank you, Pipes. It sums up my path over the last twenty years. I continue to stumble, but I always, always, know Jesus's arms are around me. Luv ya.

I haven't seen "Advance" listed yet. The rest of the Christian world goes on "Retreats". Well, being that the Way was forever renaming things to their own ideas of turning negatives into positives, retreats were called "Advances". The idea was that we do not "retreat" from the world-we "advance in the Word". Of course, that really meant we came home with sunburns, bug bites, upset stomaches, and sprained ankles just like the "retreaters" did. Did they still have "advances" in the 90's?

I love it. It reminds me of Erma Bombeck's style of writing (and style of living). Let us know if there are any more postscripts. Thanks.

Abi, you have been a wonderful person and insightful poster here that I have appreciated since I started hanging out here. One thing I know, is that I could care less about people's pasts: it's how they conduct themselves now that will speak volumes, and you have been exceptional. Shame on whoever is trying to make you miserable. Geez, we all have a past. EVEN YOU, Z!!! Keep smiling, Abi-these people at GSC have your back! :)

No laughing here. Losing your cell phone nowadays is like losing your right arm. Very happy for you. Er...they are going to return it right away, right? No holding onto it for evidence, or whatever? Which reminds me of a couple of items: You know you live in 2006 when: You have 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three. You pull up to your driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is at home. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have for the first 30 or 40 years of your life, is now cause for panic and you have to turn around to get it. And on the same theme: Your reason for not staying in touch with family and friends is that they don't have an e-mail address. You haven't played solitare with real cards in years. You e-mail the person who's sitting at the desk next to you. You start tilting your head sideways to smile :) You get up in the morning and go online before you have your coffee. You enter your password in the microwave. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

I'm with you on that, Cool! Anyone who followed this case couldn't help but be haunted by the tragic circumstances. One thing that was reported was that Patsy Ramsey was made aware of the suspect and potential arrest before her death. If that is true, we can only hope it brought her some measure of peace. It will be interesting when and if the facts come out, and if this man is proven to be the monster, to compare those facts with the theories trumped up by law enforcement and the media about Patsy Ramsey's supposed involvement. All that can be hoped for is that this brings some measure of peace to the Ramsey family, and that the media once again can learn a lesson about becoming judge and jury while reporting any story. Of course, that may be too much to ask. (All due respect to our fellow GSC journalists, of course!)

You know-he forgot to mention the holiness of the highliter. The more colorful the pages, the more "well-read, well-studied, well-versed" the owner is. Not to mention higher than a kite from the fumes.

Geez, you'd think saying "Yes" all day would be a positive thing! Too cute.

Every time they repainted the lines on the road, you'd have to buy a new car. Occasionally your car would just die on the highway for no reason. Accept this, restart and drive on. Occasionally, executing a maneuver would cause the car to stop and fail to restart. You'd have to re-install the engine. For some strange reason, you'd just accept this too. You could only have one person in the car at a time, unless you bought "Car 95" or "Car NT". But then you'd have to buy more seats. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was twice as reliable, five times as fast, twice as easy to drive - but it would only run on five percent of the roads. The oil, engine, gas and alternator warning lights would be replaced with a single "General Car Fault" light. People would get excited about "new" features in Microsoft cars, forgetting completely that they had been available in other cars for years. We'd all have to switch to Microsoft gas and auto fluids. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt. If Microsoft Built Cars........ The airbag system would say, "Are you sure?" before going off. If you were involved in a crash, you would have no idea what happened. Microsoft wouldn't build their own engines, but form a cartel with their engine suppliers. The engine would be a side-valve design so you could still use Model T Ford parts on it. Microsoft cars would have a special radio/cassette player which would only be able to listen to Microsoft FM and play Microsoft cassettes. Microsoft would do well, because even though they don't own any roads, all road manufacturers would give away Microsoft cars for free! If you couldn't afford to buy a new car, you could borrow your friend's and copy it. Whenever you bought a car, you would have to reorganize the ignition a few days until it worked. You would need an upgrade to run cars on a highway next to each other.
