How many TWI leaders follow the sex doctrine of VPW?
act2 replied to themex's topic in About The Way
I know what you mean, rascal. Yeah, take care of that 'little problem' and keep your commitment to GOD. hahaha.... yeah, to GOD, right!!!!! How naive I was. And so many others. Too bad it took us so long to see that we were just furthering twi's agenda, NOT GOD'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is precisely why I tell anyone who may be the least bit interested about this website. -
'Don't count your chickens before they hatch." A favorite saying of my mom's...of course, I am sure she heard it from her mom!!!!! B)

How many TWI leaders follow the sex doctrine of VPW?

Is it just me or do other posters read something and then your mind goes back in time to remember things that have been buried, or at least, almost 'pushing up daisies' (Thanks DMiller!!). This thread caused me to remember something: Yes, one of my TC's did tell me that it was ok to have sex with someone outside of marriage. I was so shocked that I really can't remember his reasoning. I truly put it out of my mind, until now. Also, I was telling my sis about the 'sex thing' and she happened to run into another ex-twi person who was 'in' during the mid-70's and she said she & her hubby went to Limb for counseling and that it was COMMON knowledge that the LC had MANY women. Well, dumb me, I was shocked again!!!!!!!!!! It was WAY (pun intended) more common than ANY of us little twiggies thought it was. -
likeaneagle, EVEN if it is in 'the word', THEY took it out of context. Didn't we learn that in piffle??? Just like the lockbox thing. A bunch of crap to keep people from knowing the REAL TRUTH of this sick organization. Just my humble opinion.

Shaz, I don't have a Christmas tree, but I do have ornament holders. One holds about 20 ornaments, which consist of 3 ornaments that a local society lady (93 yrs old) has given me. One each for the past 3 years that she makes. She puts only the finest materials on them. She is now in poor health, and I don't expect to see her before Christmas. Also, on this ornament holder, I have some "Spode" "Christmas Tree" ornaments. I am collecting Spode because I love it, and my godchild's parents are from England, and Spode is made in England. Some day, all my Spode Christmas collection will be hers. I also have my dining table arranged with the matching tablecloth, napkins, bowls, mugs, cookie jar, candy dish, star-shaped dish, plate on a stand, dish towel, and pot holder. And a carafe. I think that is all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also have an ornament that reminds me of my time in Memphis, ELVIS PRESLEY!!!!!!! And several others. I think it is beatiful.

Belle, update on my ice cream one....duh.... I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.... Ok, in today's paper, an article written by Sharon Randall, has a great saying, seeing as your dad is/was a banker. "Life..is a bank. Sometime you put in. Other times you take out. Either way, it's all the same bank." A quote from her mom when they had been down on their luck one Christmas and a church group brought them a ham, small tree, & cookies. The mom also added, "You need to remember how hard it is to take, because someday, you'll do the giving." Pretty cool.

Kathy, I did what you suggested, but tried to add another pic but it said that I needed to reduce it. It is only 4x3. Lots of folks add MUCH bigger pix. I will be online for just a few more minutes, as I have a scarf that I have to finish by tomorrow afternoon.

What's the best time you've had skipping out on a TWI function?
act2 replied to Jim's topic in About The Way
John, I just had to tell you that my mom and I had lunch at Old Hickory Barbeque in Owensboro today. It was delicious. Sliced mutton sandwich, fries, and blackberry cobbler w/ ice cream. I thought of you and wondered if you and Hope would be here anytime soon. Then I went for my facial (oh, what a feeling that is!!!!!!!!!). Soon after that, Mom and I went to Cracker Barrel for coffe and there was a man cleaning the big windows that all CB's have. I thought of you again, though I doubt that you actually CLEAN them anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, back on topic. I don't know if I ever skipped out on a function, except teachings at ROA!!! Duh, what a dull person I was. :( Just know that I have more fun now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
It just hit me this morning that I have also posted on Living Epistles website. Sorry, Raf, my mind just doesnt work all the time!!!! Plus I havent posted there for quite a while. I do appreciate all the posts and the good memories, and am sorry for the bad memories that many have had. Jonny, yeah, J@y Wilson was always a funny guy. He kept us laughing in twig and away from twig. His 2 kiddos look like younger versions of J@y and M@rge!!! They are gorgeous!!! Carry on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prayers are going up for you now. Trust that ALL will be well.

Radar, no apology needed, really. Even though I have been posting for about 3 years here, there are still things that I dont know. This is the only website that I post on, so I dont have alot of experience doing it. Jonny, it is about good ones, but also about bad ones, as the second line of the subject says!!! tom, I dont think Jonny is catching very many fee-sh on this thread!!!!!!!!!!! ex10, I failed to mention your name in my previous post about what you had said regarding some having good experiences and some having bad experiences with the same person. In my 18 years of working for a trucking company, there was a safety supervisor that most ALL drivers hated, because he was a former state cop and told it like it was, and did not sugarcoat anything. I was kinda scared of him because of his persona. But as I worked with him for a few years and got to see the man behind the mask, so to speak, I grew to really like and respect him. He was a man of his word, and he would back you up all the way, no matter who he was dealing with, be it the pres., v/p, terminal mgr, etc. of the company. He even came by to see hubby and me a few times when we owned the car wash. I admire the man. But I never had to listen to him tell me that I was in the wrong and would be charged with a chargeable accident, as many drivers had to endure!!!!! That affected their safety bonus so they would really be angry about it.

Exactly, John and Skyrider, my sentiments exactly. As I look back on my 19 yrs involvement, I recall that the first FEW years, I did 'witness', but after that, I rarely told anyone that I went to 'twig'. In fact, I worked for a trucking company for 18 yrs, and I would guess that I 'witnessed' to about 10 people. And in the yrs b4 I left (1994), it was embarrassing to even invite someone to a place that the 'teacher on the tape' was spitting and spewing and cussing up a storm about homos, etc. I didnt invite anyone the last several yrs that I was 'in'. Most of my coworkers had no idea what I did on Tues, Thurs, and Sunday!!!!! Looking back on my early life, I realize that due to moving around with the trucking company, it was nice to be able to attend 'twig' and everyone accepts you. You had 'instant friends' which, of course, was a lie. Now, I do question most things that I was taught, and certainly question anything that someone tells me about a health remedy, wonderful preacher on tv (yuck, for the most part), great church, etc. Glad that I am 49 yrs old and a little wiser than when I was 19 and just started going to 'twig'. We've come a l o n g way, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Radar, I do apologize if I named names and shouldnt have. I guess I was thinking that if you say something good about someone, it is ok to use their names. It wont hurt my feelings if the moderators !!!@@@ )))(((__&& use these symbols instead. I certainly mean no harm. I am truly thankful that I did not have MANY bad experiences while 'in' for 19 years, but my heart BREAKS for those who did. I tell everyone about Greasespot if they have ANY knowledge of twi, even if they never attended, such as my family. (BTW, I did have a few BAD things happen to me.) I want EVERYONE to know what twi did to so many innocent lives. So I WITNESS GREASESPOT to them!!! Well, it is my bedtime. So good nite and sweet dreams.

((((group hug)))) My thoughts on starting this thread was to acknowledge publicly that there were, in my dealings, good corps people. I realize that some who were good to me were bad to others, and maybe vice versa. So many bad things are said about WC, that I simply wanted to say that, to me, there were some good ones. And I agree, excathedra, that they are no better than I am, but the facts are, that most of us former 'leaves' are not the topic of most posts. Jonny, I agree about R@ndy @nderson. He was the LC, I think, when I first became involved. Then, he left and it was Do^g McM^llen. Anyway, continue on. Post your thoughts, good, bad, or otherwise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Actually, I asked for experiences. (The last sentence in my first post, I believe.) And the thread is called Way Corps--the good ones that I knew vs the bad ones some knew... or something like that. Duh, I thought the second line showed up on the page, but it doesnt. Anyway, tell the good and the bad....that is what I asked for. Bramble, you didnt screw up my thread. Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carry on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny Lingo, thanks for the compliment!!! Gary Smoke is a good man, imho. Keep on posting..... good and bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some that I remember as a kid: Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Make hay while the sun shines. I scream, we all scream for ice cream. Ok, I will try to remember more.

Kathy, email has been sent. Yeah, BILL CHILL....heehee.... No one shoveled my driveway yet..... boo hoo hooo.... Guess I will have to. Heading to Mom's to make CHRISTMAS CANDY!!!!!!!!!!! Have a lovely day.
-
Kathy, do you mean 'The Big Chill'???? Never heard of 'The Bill Chill'. But then again, I didnt have a tv till I was 12 and didnt get to watch it very much at that....then got in 'twi' and who had time to watch tv or go to movies, much less have the money!!!!!!!!!!! Sudo, how much snow did Nashville get?? Arent the lights at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel breathtaking??? I love them. One year, hubby, Mom, and I drove over from Memphis to see the lights, but we spent the nite somewhere else!!! Then went shopping the next day, then drove back home. Thanks for reminding me of that sweet time. Have fun and learn much!!!

Let me add that I believe that MOST of those listed above had a love for people and the Lord and that shaped their lives and how they treated people.

I would like to acknowledge that I have had good WC--G@ry Sm0ke was our first WC in Henderson that I recall. He was nothing but wonderful. He had a heart of gold, and a couple of years ago, I reconnected with him via email, though when I moved I lost his address. Oh, before that, as a wow in LA, Becky B. (later Fugit) was our branch leader. She is remembered with only good thoughts, but then, she & her family were separated after a few months, and she went somewhere else. I really cant remember the details, as it was 30 years ago, and I was still a 'new grad', so to speak. OK, back to Henderson--J@y & M@rj Wilson were next, I think. I am still in contact with them via email. They were and are a most wonderful couple who love God, imho. Then, I think, it was Annette Linds@y, now married to Michael, cant remember his last name, maybe his last name is Lindsay. I connected w/her a few years ago. She was a lovely lady. Then, I think it was Tori, from NJ, I think. She married a local man, but is now remarried. She also was a good person. Then, Terry Dill@rd and his wife Donna, daughters Jennifer & Angela, came to town. Terry helped me & hubby-at-the-time build our log home. He was the first one to say in twig that we were supposed to be self supporting, etc... at a time that twi was wanting to make sure all the money went to them. They were in AL last I heard several years ago.... One time we even gave money to a family in our twig that had suffered extreme financial burdens, with ABS money!!! heehee... we got over on twi, and helped a family in need. Then I moved to SC, and went to twig in Greenville with J@ck Karnes(WC) & his wife Sabrina. They were also sometimes saying things that went against what twi taught, but DUMB ME, I never saw that as BAD. I respected them for it. Sabrina was there for me many times. She was not WC. In AL, no WC in my area. Then I moved to Memphis, then across the river to AR, but still went to twig in Memphis, then Bartlett. C@rmen (WC) and P@t Holden were my first TC there. Only went there a few months, then was told to go 15 miles further to Bartlett to twig. TC were NOT WC, but I truly enjoyed R0n & Sheil@h C. I saw Sheil@h several months b4 I moved, she had remarried, and had a great job at Home Depot. H@rve Pl@tig and Peggy, John & Catherine (if I remember correctly) were great to me also. Maybe I was living in lala land, but I had no problems with them. In fact, H@rve, one time, told me I had to change something in my life and he WAS right about that. I did, and everything else fell in place in my life FOR THE BETTER. For that, I am grateful to him. Then, Mitc# T#ompson and his wife & kids, dont remember, came, but I left a couple months after that, so did not get to know them at all. Ok, that's my way corps experience.... BTW, I did sponsor Ev0n Pr!ddy (6th) and T0m Le#r in WC, and helped a couple others. T0m is back in Henderson, though I have only seen him once at a funeral home for my niece's grandma (his aunt, I think). Tell me about your experiences, if you will.

During one period of my 'twig' life, we had 'twig' at a house that was next to a BIG graveyard. The TL worked for the city and they supplied him that house!!!!! It was eerie, and I do remember a teaching(s) about devil spirits hanging out at graveyards. I usually took the side road to get to their house, so I wouldnt have to drive directly by the cemetary. Kinda strange, my brother is now buried there.

Dont know if this is what you are looking for or not, but here goes. I heard about 'twig' during my high school years. Several people that I knew went there, but those folks didnt have the best of reputations. Most were known to smoke pot and do a few other drugs. In fact, one day while sitting in 'study hall' with my best friend, Mary, she commented that if we ever went to that 'bible class' that we would probably open up a bible and there would be a joint in the middle of it. I will never forget that mind picture.... well, lo and behold, a male friend whom I REALLY liked asked me to go to 'twig' with him sometime after I grad. high school in 1974. I believe it was maybe March 75 when I went to my first 'twig'. It was laid back and very casual. B1ll Green^ was involved, as was Sh@ri, who later married JP. I took the class May/June 75 and was pressured to go wow that year, which I did. I cant remember how many people were in my class, but I think it was the minimum, which was 7 at the time. My wow family, along with 2 other familes, were sent to Lafayette, LA. B*cky (later married Donnie Fug1t)was Branch Leader. She had a family of 3 other women, one who had a son. The other family, as did mine, consisted of 2 males, 2 females. Sometime during the year, B*cky's family was split and sent other places, if memory serves me correctly. We went to NOLA one time when vpw came for an area wow meeting. I guess I wore rose-colored glasses because I saw nothing amiss. We finally got one class together b4 the end of the year. But now I getting into 1976.
