WOW, Sudo, thanks for the Elvis video, how powerful and moving no matter how many times I watch it. Having lived in the Memphis area for 12 years or so, I appreciate Elvis more. Hubby and his cousin are super big fans of Elvis also. Billy Haney who used to play at the Ramada in Memphis (Elvis came to watch him perform and invited him to Graceland and they stayed up all nite which was par for the course for Elvis anyway!!!) does a great job on the Trilogy also. How could I put that from a video to here? Yeah, Kathy, I imagine marrying Vince would make up for alot of pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great thread, polar bear. Lots of music lovers at The Spot!!! In a couple of weekends, we will have our annual Tri-Fest, with free music in a shaded park setting. T. Graham Brown will be here along with lots of other locals. Father's Day weekend is our annual Blues Fest, free also and the park is shaded and is right beside the Ohio River. Lots of food vendors, etc and big name entertainers. Then in August we have a free Bluegrass weekend. Hubby and I go to each of them. Also about 26 miles away is the ROMP (River of Music Party) where there will be lots of big names in Bluegrass. My nephew is in charge of booking the acts. It is lots of fun but is not free. You can look at Owensboro Bluegrass Museum website to see the acts. I like Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Allison as already mentioned, Josh Turner (Long Black Train), REO Speedwagon, lots of the 70's acts such as Marshall Tucker Band, Elvis, Jason D. Williams who could be Jerry Lee Lewis' son and too many to mention here. I don't know how to add music here, but I lots of music saved on the hard drive. Carry on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Congrats, Andrew. 5 years is a long time. I had mine as an adult for 27 months, also had jaws broken in 3 places, wisdom teeth and others cut or pulled out. OUCH!!! BUT I am so thankful that I did it. Many people comment on my pretty smile!!! Andrew, wear your retainer!!!!!!!!! I still wear mine about once a month over night and have for 21 years!!!!!!!!
  13. Would this be the Jan that we are speaking of?

    ARKANSAS

Eyesopen, you would be shocked to go thru Jonesboro now. They have several chain and local restaurants, a nice mall, though not big but it has Dillards, Penneys, Sears, etc. Of course, ASU is big there also. Don't know anything about LCM's sister, but I guess I am glad of that!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry you had a bad time with her. I think I went to Sound Out 84 in Nashville, but honestly can't recall. I may not have gone at all. I only went to Little Rock a few times while I lived there, but never with TWI. We went to a boat show there once and I flew in and out of the airport going to Dallas for a job training. Anyway, I have fond memories of AR and Memphis with and without TWI. It was still a scary time too, if that makes sense. You had to know where to go and not go. My godchild actually lives in Harrisburg, but we always go to Jonesboro to eat out, soccer, etc. Harrisburg is a tiny town.
  15. Most roses are red, Some Rosie's seem dead, At least her southern drawl, No longer gets in my crawl, So glad I don't have to hear it, or even be near it, or indeed fear it, I certainly don't endear it, The Way of Rosie has no merit, For they haven't Holy Spirit. Just my humble thoughts if you will permit it!!!!!!!!!
  16. Welcome, Listener. Great comments on this subject. It was so subtle. The thought process etc. I sometimes would share with my now-hubby things that we believed, and he agreed with most. However, the fear that we had instilled in us was not something that I even realized, so of course, I didn 't share that !!! Hubby still doesn't realize what The Way International did to many wonderful people, but that is ok. I tell it every chance I get! Hey, Rascal, keep your thoughts coming as well !!!!!!!!!! (BTW, we were in Nashville recently to see Alan Jackson at the Grand Ole Opry. I didn't know that you lived close to Nashville.)

Hey, dmiller. Hubby and I saw Doc Watson last year live at the River of Music Festival also known as ROMP. He was great and never missed a lick. His son came on stage and played with him. My nephew is in charge booking the bands for the festival each year. The Owensboro Bluegrass Museum has a website if you want to see who is coming this year. It will be at a state park in O'boro.

    ARKANSAS

Hey, y'all, I lived in Marion (near W. Memphis, AR and Memphis TN) from 1993-2001. Then I moved to Memphis and lived there till 2004. (Now in KY.) Since I was so close to Memphis, I never went to LR for meetings or anything. Rascal, a few years ago, hubby and I stayed at Arlington and did the whole spa thing. It was awesome. We ate at the best Italian restaurant in Hot Springs also. It was locally owned and the owner flew to Chicago and personally picked out the meat etc. The very best Ceasar Salad that I have ever eaten, and I have eaten at many nice restaurants. J. Alexander's comes in second, though the last time we ate there, it wasn't as good as before. Anyway, Sherry lived in W. Memphis and we rode to twig a few times, but then she stopped going. She was a teacher, I think. She had 2 sons and a daughter if I remember correctly. Don't know if any of you knew her. One son was named Barney. Jonesboro is a growing town. Hubby and I will be going there next month to see my godchild play soccer.
  19. Happy Anniversary, Socks and the Misses!! Loved your poem too. God Bless YOU TWO!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Hey Rainsbowsgirl, RG for short!!! You have great insight and said something that needed to be said. When I read a thread that I don't like, I just quit reading. I guess that may still be a bit waybrained. I do not like confrontation so I stay away. BUT I like your thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I am posting on it. heehee..... : - ) Welcome to GS and have a cup of coffee and a piece of raspberry cheesecake on the house!!! Time to get ready for my knitting circle. I made a lovely pink premmie bereavement blanket. As I knitted, I prayed for the family that would go through this heartache and hope that holding onto this blanket will somehow give them peace. Anyway, glad that you and EVERYONE are here.

  23. Hey, Dot, great topic. Yes, The Way International taught us in PFAL about getting rid of fear, more harmony in the home, healing, etc. The last few years under The Forehead's reign, I had tons of fear and didn't even realize it. I was also single, living in the Memphis area so that may have been part of it. Then, in 1994, the fiance' moved in with me as he had transferred to the area with his job at the same company that I worked for. I had bought a brand new home in 1993 and had fellowship meetings there sometime when the TC's asked me to. Anyway, after now-hubby moved in, The Forehead had a spewing that I listened to with my twig on purging the household, shacking up, etc. I decided that night that I was going to walk away after 19 years involvement. I asked the TC to come outside to talk and I told him that I had never been kicked out of anything and wasn't about to start now. THEN the fear hit me. OMG, what have I done???? I no longer have the protection of the Almighty ..... OMG, I was scared. It took years before I could admit it. Really, it wasn't till I started reading Waydale and then Greasespot that I KNEW what caused the fear. I still believed all the crap that we had been taught and condemned myself all the time. I could not believe for healing of a hearing loss that I had since a child. For 19 years, everytime I went to a communion, I tried to believe for healing. Everytime I walked away with the same hearing loss. YET, I still believed what I was taught. It's me, OH LORD!!!!!!!!!!!! I still can't talk about some decisions that I made as a young PFALer that were based on leadership's counsel. After being out now for over 12 years, I am so thankful that I had a Christian upbringing as a child. God bless each of you who have been through much worse than I have. BTW, next month hubby and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage, so The Way International, take your teachings and put them where the sun doesn't shine.
  24. Mom said "Have a Coke and a Smile on me and have a happy birthday" I hope I look this good when I am 80, don't you???
