    Swingers

Sultans Of Swing - Dire Straits You get a shiver in the dark It's been raining in the park but meantime South of the river you stop and you hold everything A band is blowing Dixie double four time You feel all right when you hear that music ring You step inside but you don't see too many faces Coming in out of the rain to hear the jazz go down Too much competition too many other places But not too many horns can make that sound Way on downsouth way on downsouth London town You check out Guitar George he knows all the chords Mind he's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing And an old guitar is all he can afford When he gets up under the lights to play his thing And Harry doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene He's got a daytime job he's doing alright He can play honky tonk just like anything Saving it up for Friday night With the Sultans with the Sultans of Swing Amd a crowd of young boys they're fooling around in the corner Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles They don't give a damn about any trumpet playing band It ain't what they call rock and roll And the Sultans played Creole And then the man he steps right up to the microphone And says at last just as the time bell rings 'Thank you goodnight now it's time to go home' and he makes it fast with one more thing 'We are the Sultans of Swing'

    Sick kitty

Psalmie this is truly a heartbreaking situation, I have been right where you are and it is a hard decision. I think our pets expect us to do what we are able, no more no less. For many people especially those with service animals that generally live on disabilities it is a hopeless feeling. You will have to do what you feel is the best you can, all things considered. When my last dog was ill after a visit to the regional vet hospital they said they thought they could fix him, the cost $3,000.00. Because they thought they could restore him to a good life and another 3 to 5 years or so, I bit the bullet and paid it off over time. I have no regrets. Like many I have always felt that a pet in many ways is like a child, in that they depend on us to care for, protect, and feed them in return they give what they can, love. As I said it is a heart wrenching decision but in the end I had to ask myself was I living up to my end of the deal? I would recommend that you visit with your vet about quality of life left for your kitty that may help in your decision. One thing I took away from that day was that I never wanted to be in that situation again, and unless I made some changes I knew it would come around again. When I got my new friend I also took out pet insurance for him. It allows paying a small monthly cost so that I won’t face another choice like that again. It makes it easier to bear the cost in having a pet and caring for them. Enclosed is a article on some options you might look in to. I know you will do what you are able to do for your kitty, and that is all that they expect in the end. Here
  14. What other positive ways are there to prevent children from ending up in gangs, on drugs and alcohol, or falling through the cracks? Well there is this class............ :)

    Gangs

Wow Cool One you seem to be having a bad day here. We have known each other for many years and managed to survive it. Perhaps it is Break Time? This is messing with me seeing Jonny be good and you being BBQ'd it’s just not right I thought the world may be coming to an end. I'm sure I must have hit the wrong button somewhere as this is uncharacteristic of you dear. Now for the record I live in Topeka and have no bullet holes in my house never have. And my weapon of choice is a crossbow it’s quiet (except for the screams) and there is just something unnerving about arrows flying around.

One reason not to have a gun! .......... Dogs Gone Wild.
  18. `No steps it's a wade in pool starts at about 2inches I think. They always do it at the close of the pool for the year before they prep it for winter.
  19. Yes we have. I use dogpile sometimes but I gotta tell you it does not work at the park I typed in poop and it couldn't even find the pile in front of me.
  20. Belle pretty much covered it ,but the first rule of the park is enter at your own risk. As far as dogs in heat it shows up pretty quick and as Belle said the people there are good about self policing the park, dogs in heat are not allowed in the park. Some parks have had the park rules made into city ordinances which gives them another layer of enforcability if needed as they are then fineable offences. We may look into that in the future. Dogs are going to fight at times it's bound to happen, when it does we ask both parties to leash their dogs for a time out. That's no fun for them watching their friends play most get the message quickly. If they don't they must leave until another day. We have two fenced areas one for small dogs and one for large. We have been pretty fortunate in that we have not had to many serious problems and we work closely with our animal control officers so they respond to calls quickly if we do. We also may add a small time out area in the future if it gets to be problem.
  21. Belle we want people to come to the website not run away I love the paws in the pool picts that was a crazy day ,when the gate opened it was ,get out of our way time. It was like 6:00 AM the day after Christmas I think we had about 300 dogs there through the day.
  22. Well we have finally launched our website , at least most of it anyway still a work in progress. It has been a fun experience working with the webmaster. The forum may turn out to be interesting hopefully it will not require a lot of moderating. None of our dogs were involved in a cult so that should be helpful. Anyway that's what I have been up to in real life...... Here It Is
  23. Here is a link for Lakeland College Annual Fund Donor Honor Roll if you scroll down to 1962 there is a entry for Donald Wierwille. No amount given but it was a honor roll of donors so I would think it was substantial. Wanda Don's wife was Wanda Stroshein looks like a typo on her name they were married in 1962. V.P.Wierwille attended at Lakeland and I believe also Don. He graduated high school in 1958 so that would be about the right date . Looks like money was going to schools for a long time..... This would seem to fit with the line from the Passing of the Patriarch page 60 where VP says "I sure don't know why Donnie isn't blessed and thankful; we bought him his doctorate. I know he received his doctorate from KU here in Kansas, but it does shed some light on that statement. Judy Prom (Weber)'62 Donald Schneider'62 Donald Wierwille (Strohschein)'62 Mary Andreas (Gutzmer)'63 Paul Boyle'63 lakeland
