Nadbooks are most uncomfortable to read, or even carry. Not one you can just throw in your back pocket.

You mean you are choosing Nawlins over my home town? You could drive by my birth site and see the home of my youth. You just need a map of "Where the Stars Live" and follow the huge neon signs. "This is where Lindy first kissed a girl....where he went to his first Way fellowship....where he wet his bed..." The fun would be endless. But if you want to go to Nawlins thats aaaight. Maybe next time. ;)-->

Very true, Danny. But of course, da Bible has EVERYTHING pertaining to life and godliness and therefore everything in life has a doctrinal counterpart and is subject to a magnifying glass and painful inspections usually left for the proctologist. :o--> For example... Not telling leadership right away that I was mugged. I was almost thrown out for that one. or... Someone (without clue about color and design)coming into your house and telling you to change the color of your bathroom towels, and getting ....ed when you disagree. All because tha MAN put them in charge of set up , in my house. -->

Now that I've changed it, it changed all of my previous posts. That's new. Of course, it also makes this thread make no sense at all. Oh well
-
oldies IMO, no, but possibly the majority. disagree there too. Niether of us can speak for everyone. I know that I do not think I an "right" everytime i open my mouth with an opinion. But that is just me. Maybe you do. From what I have seen on this board I think you do, which could be why you make such a statement. I think this is a healthy thing to do.....Assume you are wrong at times, guess, question everything, including yourself. Or at least consider the possibility that you could be wrong. Although, I could be wrong. ;)--> You can continue thinking your always right. Won't change much, but not everyone wants to change.

How must money did you give the Way for classes and etc?
lindyhopper replied to year2027's topic in About The Way
Now these last few posts have been great examples of committed ex-wayfers. Evan, Paw, Brable and family, you guys are the best! Now Raf, as I always say, find a disciplined ex-wafer and emulate them. Follow them around, be their shadow. That's how you learn to walk according to God's will. Go Tiger! -

lindyhopper replied to year2027's topic in About The Way
Geeze, weren't you guys REAL wafers? I'm almost ashamed to call you ex-wayfers. ;)--> Lets see. My best year as an innie was the year paid off my school loans. (because I was working two full time jobs) That year I made a whopping 30 thousand. This was just after the first teaching where LCM gave everyone a guilt trip and said up your ABS percentage. Well, as a Junior corps I never thought of giving less than 15%. I did kick it up a notch, but for now lets just say I ABSed 15% of 30K. That would be $4500, just in ABS that year! That was half of what I paid on my loans that year. Then there were classes and the Adv. Cl. Special.....yes I was an idiot. I voted 2-5K. Clearly I should change that. Over the years it must have been over 10K. Lesson learned. If I would have stayed in school, I could have gotten my degree 7 years earlier, a job paying more than 30 and paid my loans off just as quick, plus I would then still have a decent paying job. Oh well. On the other hand, what would I have done without all that table waiting and plant watering experience? --> -

Nice post Sir Guess. I think you are getting better with age. ;)--> I guess it is hard to see when one's own hill of beans is blocking their view...... "But this is our hill and these are our beans..." LOL Thanks anyway... nice posts on that other thread on Revelations as well....very interesting....even if I don't believe the Bible, that is very good stuff. -
I saw a show on 20/20 or some simular show about a family that had adopted 22 (>or These people in the news today on the other hand, are sick and poor excuses for human beings. I'm sure they were abused as children themselves. It is alarming how much physical and sexual abuse goes on in the world....and we only know the stuff that is reported or we hear about thru acquaitances. But it is a vicious cycle. It's not an excuse, but it is not unknown that victims of abuse many times become abusers themselves. The old saying that VPW used to say "you can only go as far as you've been taught" is only half true, but it certainly gets the ball rolling for many people and the feeble minded can't make it stop on their own.

Now you've gone and done it, searcher. You've offended everyone. Now we're all to blame. ;)-->

Geez, sorry to here that Wyte. I hope you're in good health. I will have to change my signiture. It seems to be bringing up unintended bad memories. Sorry

Yes, Chuck, leave us with our bigotry.

Ah, thats right, Until it Sleeps. It was a debil spurt according to Wafer-leader-extrordinar. "So wash me untill I'm clean" that was the part I was thinking of. I never really like them untill after I left twi. While I was in I was into much more hard core music. LOL Sorry, don't know your mom, you know, its a big state and all....lol....but I like the way you keep giving me little tid bits of info about your mom. :D--> thats funny. Sorry if its not meant to be.

MEOW, Krys, you shaver of THE. Are you also the spanker of THE, or do you just prep THE for a good spanking? Whatever it is it sure sounds like fun.
-
I always vote for a spanking. Plus, Charlie just sounds so much better than Lindy. Lindy is kind of girly, you know. Thank you sir, may I have another.

I never quite got the "who's your Daddy" in a sexual context. A little too Fruedian for me. Just another reason why I am a reject. Please send me back.

Why I reject belief in the Bible
lindyhopper replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
I guess I was sort of ignoring the half of a sentence that didn't quite fit in that paragraph, while you were focusing on it. Been guilty of that myself at times. OK, we can all play nice again. -
Well said, as usual, Sir Guess. paraphrased from a movie I saw last night,Lost in Translation(which was aparently written by someone as they were moved by the holy spirit ;)-->) ...the more you know about yourself and what you want in life, the less you let things offend you... tis the truth. Oh, gotta go.....there goes my eye....

Doug, Not sure if the Texas thing was to me....I don't live there, but I was born there so the Texas pride is still intact. Concerning Metalica.... Our second "President" (dictator) L Craig Martindale, would listen to a lot of didfferent music and had said at times that he listened to and liked Metalica. Although, sometimes they were used as examples of evil things. For example...the video for the song "untill its clean" (don't know if that is the title but that is repeated in the chorus) was used after an Advanced Class (where they taught about devil spirits and stuff) to show how the 'Adversary' was so brash and how acurately it depicted the way devil spirits take control of someone. It also depicted a scene in which Eve is being sedused by a serpent with the torso of a woman. That was used to show how even in the seular world it was some what known about Eve's lesbo sin (see other threads about that wack doctrine). Ah yes, we were a strange bunch of lunatics. Welcome

Why I reject belief in the Bible
lindyhopper replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
Cynic, Curious. I don't know what you were trying to get at,but maybe we should break this down so all the kids can play. Starting with LongGone (great post by the way) (Bold added by me) Now looking at your post and cutting out the fluff... (the reason I say fluff is that regardless of the lengths people go thru to explain or the science and knowledge used to interperet the Bible and the reasoning and logic that it may take to do so, it is still under the presupposition of its authority, being inspired by God and therefore inerrantly perfect.....which is in and of itself FAITH) ..... If we refer back to LongGone's post we see that he said this 'reasonable faith' is "not refuted by logic". So then we should assume his answer to your challenge would be... because he does not think it is infact subject to refutation. Then your next post also confuses me.... ...as if he could try but it would be futile and thus proving some point you were making? It is all a little strange to me. Care to clarify? -
Well done, Doug. So how did your JW friends feel about Metalica?
-
Got that one right. You said that, no one else.. Again, no one ever said that. Exactly, and your poll shows that most people don't think GS is in a downward spiral. So why do we keep harping on about this?

Why I reject belief in the Bible
lindyhopper replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
For you dictionary.com fans..... --> big·ot·ry - The attitude, state of mind, or behavior characteristic of a bigot; intolerance. The state of mind of a bigot; obstinate and unreasoning attachment of one's own belief and opinions, with narrow-minded intolerance of beliefs opposed to them. The practice or tenets of a bigot. the intolerance and prejudice of a bigot. ------------------------------------------------ Yes, thank you for deleting that post. --> seems as though there IS some bigotry going on here. -

Nice, WW, twi has taught you well. Come on you are smarter than this. Do we have to start getting into sentence structure? What Oak said is pretty much what happened. but technicallywe should all be able to see that Zix called Chuck a bigot based on that statement. I know the wieght that word carries in our society and I know what it actually means. The way in which Zix just used it not only implies the way he sees Chucks views but is also used as an insult. And all this because little Zixy was offended. Enter the real world. Instead of telling people to go away and stop posting thier opinion, perhaps someone should go in their room, turn off all the lights, and curl up in the fetal position, if they are so easily offended. And inflammatory? Well isn't that just the worst thing that has ever happened around here. No wait, that happens quite a bit around here, now doesn't it.
