I think we're missing a big point here. Now not only are they requiring folks to read more crap, but now they can monitor how many people are actually reading the crap. Gone are the days of the Way Rag going from your mailbox to it's permanent place on your coffee table or bookshelf. Maybe twi cyber geeks notice a small turn out in recent years and everyone was "lovingly admonished" to get their foot onto the website. Do not pass Greasespotcafe, do not stop ABSing $200. :D-->

Interesting. It was too much to handle? You mean the other 12 segments chaulked full of rediculous amounts of info was enough to handle? They had those 12 sessions down pat? I don't think so. I think it must have been a practical application issue. One that if done improperly could get out of control and maybe make the twi look silly or out of control. That is what I think. So what happened? The same thing that always happened... Micromanagement. They made sure everyone was doing it the way the ministry wanted it done, "decent and in (twi's)order". Which brings me to a point I have made many times in reference to SIT. The way it was taught in both the foundational and intermediate, but esspecially the intermediate, was done in a way that I can't figure out how it couldn't have been on some mental level faked. You were taught to fake it, IMO. Forget that I think it is all bogus anyway. We were instructed to form the words ie. determine what you would say. It sounded real sure, but we were instructed that it had to sound like a real language...because it was, right. I've been thru all this before in greater detail, but you get the picture. and galen, no offense, I know I am using a bad word here but in many ways the military brain washes it's recruits. In regard to putting your life on the line and obeying your superior to the end that you run head on into certain death without question all for you country, it is needed. It is not needed to be a good Christian, let alone just a good human being.

This is a question that many bring up to us agnotstics and atheists. IMO it is a question that is quite telling. (sorry, Chuck, I don't have time right now to read your link) Telling in that it seems to assume that the only reason to live good lives and do good things is out of fear or bribery. Not out of love that is for sure...and this from Christians. As if the only reason to love and feel compassion is because the "one true, loving God" has commanded you to. Are there no other reasons to be a good person? Empathy, compassion, sympathy, love, civil responsibility, parenting, goodness kindness, do they mean absolutely nothing to you outside of the context of God? If so that is quite frightening. Imagine for a second that there are no eternal rewards, no extra-natural being promising another world, and try to see if you can see any benefit to being good to your neighbor. Maybe even treating them the same way you would like to be treated. You may come up with only seemingly selfish reasons, but there is nothing wrong with that.

A gift seperate from God? How can anything be seperate from an omni-present God?

you really know you've been working hard when you can go to the men's Corps Tent, otherwise known as the Men's Snore Tents, and actaully catch a wink. :D-->

Yes thanks and your welcome. One of the coolest things about the Rock was the cooprative nature of it. There was a large population of people wandering around enjoying themselves that also had thier own little mini-job. Even if it was just one hour for one of the days, many people corps and non-corp alike helped things run smoothly. The corps did/does bare the brunt of the work though. I've got two words for ya....Honey Wagon. Mmmmmm MMMMM! someone had to do it I guess.

If you haven't been there before, the "mall" area is a must, of course. Mucho museums, monuments, the Capital etc.. The Library of Congress is an overlooked gem IMO. Dupont Circle is fun as I said with Embassy Row right there. Its kind of fun to walk around and "hey look the embassy for The Republic of Chad." :)--> They hae a great bookstore-cafe there. Georgetown in nice as well. Arlington is nice as well. A short trip north and you feel like you've escaped the city at Great Falls State(?) Park. (The Billy Goat Trail is our favorite.) Can you tell I like DC. I should be a freakin' travel guild. I will miss it.
-
I think Linda Z has the right idea. I am partial to the Dupont area myself lots of cool restaurants and galleries etc. Of course if you can stay where Steve! and Cindy! stayed then go for it. The nicer the hotel, the better I always say. I have become an elitest when it comes to hotels. Slurge if you can. I have no idea what the prices would be. I suspect around $200/night + or -. It could go way up from there. You can always find things cheaper as you head toward Maryland. The subway system is great and beautiful. Barrel vaulted coffered ceilings and all. If either of you are up for lunch or dinner sometime, I may be available (only thru the end of March).

It seems like the first line in vs. 27 is a quote from an unknown (by me) source. For those of you counting that was 15 "he's" and "him's" plus one "himself". that is 3*5+1 or 4*4. Ooooohhh don't get me started BSing about that! -->

i'll put my agnostic two bits in... I always had trouble with Col. 1 and twi interpretation never really sat right either. Then there is 1 Cor. 15:22-28...bold added by me it is just as unclear in most other translations :D-->

They had the author of the book, "The Sociopath Next Door", on NPR the other day. She said that 1 out of 25 people are sociopaths. Apparently, many professionals consider that number to be conservative. Thats 4% of the population. So in our country of about 300 million, that gives us 12 million sociopaths. That is f*cking crazy! While there is discussion over what the exact definition is, the one she used was a person lacking normal emotions but is not violent, or something to that effect. Many of these people reside in our nation's prisons. What do you get when you strip a human of emotions? Someone who is only interested in power and control. They manipulate just to make you jump. If you don't jump, well then you are a new challenge to be taken on. It totally made me think of LCM and others. I agreee with what George said. With 12 million in our country alone how many do think are in charge of religious organizations? It is true that it is not something you can cure. THe best way to deal with these people is to set very clear bounderies between them and you. Or just stay the hell away from them.

Of course if you didn't disagree with the use of "delusional" then you wouldn't really be delusional would you? ;)--> Its one of those catch-22s

Anal retentive? (sorry for answering for Word to the Wolf. I don't usually do so.) I seem to remember a poster using his first post to list two hundred different words and phrases for "fear". Now that is just plain crazy.

I don't frequent these threads, because, well frankly I think your insane. I've only read the two posts on this thread, the first and last (before yours, OK Three posts), like I would a bad book. Still even I know the answer to that last question, Mike. Aaaaaaand here it is to read again. "have you not read..." Seems reasonable to me.

Thanks Wayfernot and ccray (PTed me). I remembered his name as I was driving down the road the other day. That always happens (remembering names) when you least expect it. ccray I think we may have been at that wedding. I'll pt you back.

and what was the area coordinator's name. Steve something. we were there in 83-84 actually.
-
would that be around 82-83ish?
-
Would that be in the either Midland or Lubbock area CC ray?

I think spiritual pressure is best described by Justloafing's avatar.

exactly! My baby steps started after questioning as well. Although, unlike most here I didn't start with some of the later sessions of the class. I went right to the "integrity of the Word", which is a funny statement that sparks a question with twi's answer already embedded in it. "What is the integrity of (God's) Word?" Without asking more uncomfortable questions you've got your answer. The only thing that stopped me at the time was SIT. Once I began to question SIT, everything became suspect. The next key in my getting back to a liberating life was to get used to not having the answers. Just because you ask questions doesn't mean there will be answers. Not settling on answers has been an important step for me.

When my wife asked question after question about the debit issue to my innie family memeber, all he could say was "well that is what we believe, that is what we think is best for our lives" over and over. Well, that sure sounds like a well thought out and informed theological stance. And he is no green believer.

LMAO, satori. I guess that would make any MOG big B big S.

ROR, Gary Fredrick, that's the guy. He is apparently the CFO. Who is he? No no nothing like that. I guess I should have clarified seeing as most people here know I have some relatives in twi. This perticular one is not and has never been in twi. She works for the regional gas company and handles rick management or something. That is why they sent a letter to her. Ex10, this does not seem to be a gas bill issue. TWI either damaged a gas line or broke it while digging for one reason or another. It could have been digging a fence post hole, digging a foundation, or anything inbetween. Point is whenever you dig, you need to get your local utility line locator service to mark where these lines are before you start. TWI geniuses didn't do that and now they are paying for it. Well, innies are paying for it. It is a stupid mistake. Not even a mistake, a stupid decision not to call Mr. Locator like they are supposed to. The slogan they use around here is, "IT'S THE LAW!" Instead of the "furtherance of the Verd", my innie family's hard earned cashola is going down the pipe. Why the CFO is handling it? I don't know, maybe no one else is there to take care of things like this.

We had a great time last night as well. One of my favorite guys from F12 was there and we did some catching up. Sorry if I ignored some of you because of that. I don't think I would like any pix of me or the minihopper posted. Thanks. Hope everyone had a good time. Thanks Flow.
