  1. Where you make the money is in equity and resale. At least if you are in the right market, which is a shrinking one at the moment. Although, in B-more certain areas are still shooting way up. My sister in-law's house is going up 50K a year. Ours is going up 25-30 and this is a cheap house. We are in the process of renting it out and I would say we should still make money on it off of the rent for a few years. It is in good condition, so it won't need a lot of repairs for now. We have a management company that is doing the leg work for us right now and they will do all the dirty work when it is needed. Even with the % the management company will get we should make a little off of it this year from the rent then quite a it more from the equity. I would imagine that this is because we bought almost two years ago so our morgage payment is not what it would be if we just bought a place and rented it out right away. ALthough in our neighborhood there are some people buying up any of the ones that go on the market so that they can rent it, because many believe the developement is going to shoot way up in the next couple of years. Some also turn the basement into studios that they rent out. This is a townhome BTW.
  2. Sorry guys I'm not following you here. I'm in Judges 20. Is that right? 20:18 "18 The Israelites went up to Bethel and inquired of God. They said, "Who of us shall go first to fight against the Benjamites?" The LORD replied, "Judah shall go first." " They go to battle and the first day they loose 22 thousand men. They come back to God crying: 20:21-23 "21 The Benjamites came out of Gibeah and cut down twenty-two thousand Israelites on the battlefield that day. 22 But the men of Israel encouraged one another and again took up their positions where they had stationed themselves the first day. 23 The Israelites went up and wept before the LORD until evening, and they inquired of the LORD. They said, "Shall we go up again to battle against the Benjamites, our brothers?" The LORD answered, "Go up against them." The go again and loose an additional 18 thousand men. They fasted and made burn offerings and fellowship offerings to God. They must have been wondering why God was sending them into a slaughter two days in a row. 20:27,29 "27 And the Israelites inquired of the LORD. (In those days the ark of the covenant of God was there, 28 with Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, ministering before it.) They asked, "Shall we go up again to battle with Benjamin our brother, or not?" (or not? please, Lord, say not) The LORD responded, "Go, for tomorrow I will give them into your hands." That is three times praying, fasting, making offerings, and inquiring of the Lord. Three days 22 thousand men, plus how ever many were lost the third day. That third day 25 thousand Benjamites (worriors)died not to mention all the unchosen men, women and children that later must have died that don't seem to be worth counting. What are you guys refering to?
  3. I jsut can't get over this guy. He hands his wife over to a mob so they can do what they will with her, and the next morning he walks out the door to see her sprawled out on the ground and all he says is "UP, lets go!". Those damned homosexuals. -->
  4. Boy this just gets better. It doesn't say that the mob killer her. Here is what it says. Sounds like she was alive until he took a knife to her and sent her pieces off like traveling gnomes to spread the word. Later he claims So now they just some how got his wife and forced her? and they killed her before he chopped her in pieces? What a great man of God. Good thing he chopped her up to get the word out. Who knows how many inoccent people would have died if they would have been let go. Oh no wait, tens of thousands of innocent people die anyways don't they? OK I have totally forgotten what that good moral was in this story. The new one for me is- don't whore out your wife or daughter- instead protect your family with YOUR OWN LIFE- and don't go killing thousands upon thousands of innocent people in response to one wrongful death. Then that is just common sense, din't need the Bible to tell me that one. and another thing about the "know" thing. in 19:22 says "Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him." 20:5 says " 5And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead." Do you really know that you know that they wanted to "know" him the way you think that you know they wanted to "know" him. What you are saying and what he is saying are two differnt things. One involves anal sex the other just involves killing.
  5. Thank you Rachel, I did go back and read it again, and what an F'ed up story it is. Reads like a comination of Lot's story and the city of Ai story. Strangely similar. Is that how you read it? And it is the homo's fault? The book I was looking at had those "poor men" offer up a daughter and then the wife to save themselves. What shivelry. That is very similar to the story of Lot at Soddom and Gamorah. Wonder why. Was that some sort of custom, to molest the ment that came through town? Clearly women were thought of as property and were offered up as such. In both stories, the man of the house offers up his daughter. HIS DAUGHTER! And all we ever focus on are those evil homos. Look rape is rape, male, female it is wrong, regardless. So then, the next day he is upset that the mob he handed his wife over to has killed her? That makes sense. So, he chops her into 12 pieces and sends them off to the rest of Isreal. (Well, that's one way to deal with greif, not the one I would choose.) Where was that knife the night before? If they had any respect for the life of a woman, let alone his wife (concubine or whatever), or even just a pair of brass ones, he would have taken that knife and used it on those punks that wanted his a$$. So they all died because of a few homosexuals? Seems to me that they were homosexual before that night and yet God had let them go on living for quite some time. I can't imagine that a group of straight guys got together one night and decided they wanted to go butt rape the traveling stranger, and they all agreed. Don't think that is how it works. So what is worse? Treating a life like property with little to no worth? being a homosexual? or rape of any kind? Hmmm. I know which one should be LAST on the list. If it was because of the homos in Benjamin that they all died, why did God repeatedly send the children of Isreal to be slaughtered two days in a row. Doesn't sound like the days of Jeramiah when no one was killed as long as they did what they were supposed to. Although, it does sound a lot like the story of the men of Ai. They run out of the city, they get drawn away only to turn around and see their city up in smoke. Then in this story, chase them as they run from city to city and burn those towns as well. What a swell bunch of people they were. Why? Because of those darned homos? Because a city of thousands didn't happen to know what happened that night however many days after the fact and those who did, didn't come forward, maybe? So lets kill em all? This makes sense?
  6. I'm with Z, on this. Fly nekid an don't touch my Henckles. If they take these types of knives away, how am I supposed to cut though a tin can and then still slice beautifully though this ripe tomato? -->
  7. You're absolutely right. But more importantly God's turn on's are -long walks on the beach -a sense of humour (cause he's British) -someone who will except him/her for who he/she really is.

    Belief-O-Matic

Here are my results 1. Secular Humanism (100%) 2. Unitarian Universalism (92%) 3. Nontheist (78%) 4. Liberal Quakers (72%) 5. Theravada Buddhism (70%) 6. Neo-Pagan (66%) 7. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (59%) 8. Taoism (51%) 9. Reform Judaism (47%) 10. New Age (46%) 11. Bahá'í Faith (39%) 12. Orthodox Quaker (39%) 13. Sikhism (39%) 14. Mahayana Buddhism (35%) 15. Scientology (35%) 16. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (32%) 17. New Thought (32%) 18. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (28%) 19. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (25%) 20. Eastern Orthodox (24%) 21. Islam (24%) 22. Jainism (24%) 23. Orthodox Judaism (24%) 24. Roman Catholic (24%) 25. Seventh Day Adventist (18%) 26. Hinduism (14%) 27. Jehovah's Witness (7%) I accidentally erased my first results and did it again chaning my confessing to a non-cleric to not applicable. The only difference in the results that I could see was Secular Humanist was second to Universal Unitariarian. I'm supprised that Nontheist was third seeing as I answered as one to all of the questions involving theism. I don't think the questionnaire is totally wacked. I think the moral of the story is that many religions share many different beliefs. What we think is the most important differnce in our belief system is often not a moral or ethical differnce. In choosing and exhalting that difference (ie belief in Jesus as SoG or G) we sometimes become blind or willfully negate the many moral and ethical similarities. Look at me, my results say almost 60% Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants even though I answered "no God, not sure, don't care" to all the theistic questions. In many places Universal Unitarians are more like a moral social club than a religion, so I can see that one. I would consider the qustionnaire to be more right than not. I would look at it and see the many great similarities rather than how they have equated you with those other evil people, how dare they! But then again I am one of those evil secuar humanists, so don't listen to me.
  9. I guess that sounds nice. I don't think I have ever heard that, except for the fact that it comes back to your believing which I don't believe to be true, but hey, if it works for you then great. It also sounds a little inefficient. Suffering, sickness, and death happens gloabally 24/7. There are far more incidents than there are Christians there to save the day. It is not the way I would plan it, but maybe I feel for people a little too much. It just doesn't seem fair. I know life isn't fair, but supposedly God is and just. I don't know anything fair or just about innocent little children dying of cancer, SIDs, or listeria because mom didn't know not to eat cold cuts while pregnant, or anything else, just because there wasn't an informed Christian around waiting in the wings to proclaim the Kingdom of God is nearby. I know that I know that I know that I don't know everything. There could be a God and he could have his reasons, but I can't help but feel a little out of the loop and upset about it. Cause from my perspective, it doesn't make sense, isn't fair, and isn't just. All I or anyone else are left with is suffering and dispair. There is hope, of course, but it is my experience that hope doesn't heal wounds nor does it confirm a belief. It is just a decided refocusing of ones attention in order to move on with life.
  10. Man I loved those guys! a shoop-doop doop-doop doo doop a shoop-doop doop-doop doo doop Well, I forgot the lead singers name but he was in the Baltimore Washington area back in the late 80's and early 90's, I believe. I moved up in 93 and I think he left not too long before I got there. I would guess that the chasing out of Stokely Rose and his family may have had something to do with it. He was/is loved by many and when they were M&A'ed many from that area split with them. As far as the group itself, I'm not sure. I think they came together over thier WOW year and probably split as their lives changed and they moved on. Of course as faces of TWI I'm sure that they were pressured/hounded to go corps. I think the lead singer did go. If the rest didn't want to "grow" in da ministry, I don't see how they could have stayed together in the culture of the way. I loved all the dance moves too. Much too much soul for TWI part duh.
  11. A very good lesson in there,Mark. A lesson that is rarely learned.
  12. Oak you are doing a terrible job of trying to get back in the club. ;)--> Actually I agree with much of what you said, except that I don't believe that supernatural things happen. I don't deny that they may happen, but I don't know enough to believe that they do. I feel that to be even relatively certain that supernatural things occure I would need to know everything there is to know of the natural world. Believe me, I am FAR from that. So when I see or hear these things happening I view it plainly as something that I don't understand. Then I rule out the possible natural things that I do or could know with some reading and thinking. I don't assume. I'm not saying anyone here does, but I know people, at times, do. Perhaps you know or feel something that you are sure of but for some reason can't explain and I can't deny or confirm that. I can say that I am very excited and happy when people are healed by explainable or unexplainable means. They both fascinate me but I must say the unexplainable ones do have a certain allure.
  13. Sorry Tomas didn't see your post there. Well, I'm happy for your healing. My wife being in the health field and me being just really interested in it I've heard a lot of crazy unexplainable things that have happened to people of different faiths, different persuasions both good and bad things. To children, parents, grandparents and those that have no family at all. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me sometimes. All I can say is I am happy when the good stuff happens. One thing I am sure of is that stuff happens. ;)--> Cheers.
  14. Oak, I am personally kicking you out of the Club! Consider yourself declubbed or unclubbed or something. :D-->
  15. Welcome, Shot Gun Wedding, and congrats on your first post. Can I get you some beer to go with the wedding cake? ;)-->
  16. Don't recall ever hearing anything other than it being still, small, and quiet. My guess would be that it sounded remarkably like VP.
  17. LCM did scream to no end one time (at least) about people calling or writing to him giving him their research or ideas of what love (or pick any topic) was. He would say, "I defy anyone that thinks they know more about love (or insert any other topic) means!" Also things like, "I have more love in my pinky than they'll ever have." I'm sure that was a working pick-up line for him as well. You cold say that was a warning and a declaration to all waybots, "Don't disagree with me" because "I know more about God and the Bible than anyone". Why? because he was the Mayo-God. lol Hell, I remember being an oh so cocky 21 year old thinking that I knew more "rightly devided word of God" than any minister, preacher, or priest. I can only imagine what LCM and VP thought of themselves.
  18. Three way calling! Geez what were you thinking?
  19. TWI kept me to the right on most things but as a young adult I always voted independent, because I could never bring myself to vote for either party whatever face they had on. These days I am a left, middle, center and on a rare occasion I am right. Well, I'm always right and never right. :D--> But according to some around here I am so left I like to have three ways with Howard Dean and Jim Kerry
  20. LMAO Chef. All of the "healing" I saw, had, or did were in regards to pain, ie. making it go away. I had my wisdon teeth taken out at one time and boy did that smart afterwards. That night the big wig of the ENTIRE STATE echo echo echo(less people than a normal church)was at our fellowship. He asked if I wanted to be prayed for. I said sure. It went away right as he said amen. Later that night it returned. Go figure. These days I think that many things are in our head, then again many are not. But I think pain inperticular is one we can suppress or increase just by using your mental muscles so to speak. You see it in martial arts. You see it in hypocondriacs. I knew a guy who could say to himself "OK this is the last hick-up" and it would be. I still can't do that one. Now concerning big things like diabetes, cancer, AIDS, broken legs, lame from their mother's womb...never seen it. I've read a lot of things and heard a lot of things, but I never hear any folow up reports or see any proof. But I do think the brain is a powerful tool. More people should use it. ;)-->
  21. You were hoping to get more from me? Well that's nice. Keep on hopin'. Until I learn ESP, I stick to my original post. By all means though, tell me what Jesus was thinking. It really is a nail biter of a question, I just can't wait.
  22. Well, from what I know of Jesus' actual thoughts, I can say I haven't a clue.
  23. Yeah, it looks like in its youth it was a real gem. :D-->
