  1. Ah Cora Fowowe, that was always a fun name for us little F12 kids. I remember all the people your talking about but haven't heard about them in years. Soworwe
  2. Pirate, I understand what you are saying, it is not an easy issue. But don't you think that it is the kid that is not openly gay that you should be concerned about. Are you not only discriminating now, but also accusing gay teens of being rapests as well? Maybe if you had two or more gay kids in a tent there might be an issue. You are also assuming gay adults are pedophiles. Are these the messages BSA wants to send to thier kids? The fear and lack of understanding of homosexuality is really what seems to be the issue with BSA (and a lot of America in general). But that really isn't the issue here. They literally can do what they want.
  3. Geeze, Belle, no need to start making Ghost Busters references. :D--> I agree more or less with what Oak has said. As to tip toeing, I don't think that is what is happening a lot of the time. If someone doesn't want homosexuals in a group because of their sexual practices then fine, but don't expect no backlash, don't go stomping around and act as though you are tip toeing. The clubs Belle mentioned were clear about what they were. Sweet Potatoe Queens I would imagine are women that make things with sweet potatoes, Miss Latin America is for Latin women that live in America, Miss America is for all women in America, etc. If there is anyone that needs to change their name it should be the BSA. Why you ask? Because they are not talking about all boys in America that want to be scouts, they should be called heterosexual boyscouts of America. LOL I doubt the parents would be happy about stressing their sons sexuality at the normal boy scout age. This is realy where you are seeing discrimination, not just club rules. Of course, If Oak is right then they don't really discriminate against the kids, but the Den leaders. Still, it is a PUBLIC school, paid for by nondiscriminatory tax dollars. Therefore they can't or shouldn't allow a group that does discriminate use thier public facilities. There is nothing that should be upsetting about this.
  4. For the record, I like finge ideas, they are intersting and sometimes educational. I can't say they are science and I can't always say they are totally false. This is one reason I like +/-ODD. He generally has very intersting well thought out (or not) ideas that in some deep way make some sense on some level. I think many people here treat him well inspite of their differnces in opinion. But here is the diffence. Of your 100 posts, David, your second one was rather insulting and negative. Since then you have reacted in a similar way to any and all disagreement. Thus your 22 pages of not so flatering responses. Just a tip. free of charge
  5. Wow, look what I have been missing. I stopped in months ago to look at this and dismissed it and left, but now look, so much fun going on. I noticed a few pages ago that David had the gal to insinuate that the number of posts a person has was somehow linked to what type of life one had. So I thought I'd throw some math in the mix seeing as DA is an engineer and smarter than MDs and probably archtects as well (they always think that), hell they are possibly the smartest people on the face of this earth. So lets see I'll take Oak for a thousand, David. He has posted 4183 posts since June 14. I'll just call that 3 years. Keeping it to 365 days that is 1095 days. That puts him at about 3.8 posts a day. You have been here since Nov 14th and have posted 100 posts. That puts you at about .5 posts a day. Gee your life really is looking better. But lets take into account the fact that most of your posts, if not all, are about 5 to 10 times as long as anyone else's. Steve!'s posts are usually very small as are many of CM's and Raf's. At five times that puts you to 2.5 and at ten that puts you at 5 posts a day. This is the only thead you have posted on. I can only imagine what it would be like if you had other interests on this board. (please, no one start an equine related thread) Consider the ant thou sluggard. Consideration does nothing if you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Ants do not have hemoglobin. true. They are arthropods. What arthropods and mulluscs have is a similar oxygen binding protien called hemocyanin. Hemocyanin is another metaloprotien that relies on copper prosthic group instead of iron heme group to carry oxygen. To carry oxygen. So I don't know wht your point was seeing that all animals and plants have some sort of oxygen binding protiens in their "blood" to, you guessed it, carry oxygen. But then, for some reason, I think you know this. So what was your point? If the point of all this is that Oxygenated water is better than carbonated water, then great, it is, conratulations on the Nobel. Speaking of which, our good friend Otto Warburg didn't get the Nobel for discoving that lack of oxygen was the cause of cancer, he got it for his discovery of the nature and mode of action for the respiratory enzyme. Although, he did also discover that cancer can live and develope, even in the absence of oxygen. The key word there being EVEN. Look I love learnig about new things and hearing of new ways to cure diseases and all that. It is a big interest of mine, but to be honest your posts are riddled with errors, of which I don't have the time to point out every single one. Many here have already done so to some degree. If you and others are feeling great about drinking water that has more oxygen in it, then fantastic, but until there are some statements that are backed up by some real science it is not credible scientifically speaking. Post some links, you've got that down now. Some links to real medical journals not to oxylife or hiOsilver or eternalife or the like. This is not a matter of oh "it's just water whats th big deal". This sort of thing becomes big for two reasons, 1) water is good for you (or some similar truth) and 2) it makes someone a ****e load of money. If that person is not you then you must be the scam artist's patron. This is about questioning products, and things in general, to the end that you get a credible answer. This is about exposing scams by that process. This is about misleading people and exposing those that mislead. That is what this website is all about (in threory anyway). So you came to the right place. Glad we could help.
  6. ain't it great. lol That is good stuff.
  7. Kareoke on the other hand. JUST SAY NO!
  8. It was my SIXTH Birthday. My Golden Birthday. We were at a pizza joint. Both of my parents smoked. They were divorced and my Dad was in for the day. I asked if I could take a puff. "Well, he's gotta learn at some point." one of them said. That was it, cough cough, never agian. My mom stopped when she got prego with my younger bro, then officailly stopped a year or two later, before going in the corpse. lol My dad stops all the time and then starts up again. I tried dip later when I was like 10 with some friends and that cured me of that as well. Never liked most alcohol but eventually found some red and pale beers that are decent and of course I found wine, but only the good stuff. Yes, I'm a wine snob. Raf, heres a good trick. Everytime you want a cigarette go into the bathroom, stick your head in the toilet and give yourself a swirly. I think it might work, if not, it will be a lot of fun to read about.
  9. Hey now, lets not confuse people anymore than they already are. I am not a mini-mog of the Linder variety. Thank you. The one, the only, the one true Lindy
  10. Naw, Belle, Mike Finley was way to white for New Horizons. lol He was a very good drummer though, and had the funniest laugh I have ever heard. Ron Hurst is correct. In fact he may have been the limb coordinator of MD cause the year I got there they had just gotten a new LC and I had heard that Ron Hurst had left the ministry. Like I said that was around 92-93. man they were great. Remember that song "Door to Door Witnessing" they actually made it sound fun. LOL They really were that good. Yeah, now that I remember it he was the LC od MD. I met him at the Rock a year or two before I moved up there. I was so excited about him being there cause I thought they were just about the coolest guys in the ministry. When I arrived in MD Jo#n Spev@ck was the new LC.
  11. Um well, Steve!, I am. Problem is not everyone's idea of perfect lines up with my one true perfection. But that is not my problem is it? Everyone else just needs to rise up to see my true nature and the nature of the universe around me. :D--> See perfect smile.

    Gardening

It is stuff those crazy pagans use. lol (kidding) Lavender is used for its scent a lot of times. You can find it and put it in things like soap, potpori, scented oils etc. I can't imagine cooking with it, but maybe someone knows something I don't. I think it has some healing/ soothing qualities to it as well, that someone may know more about than me. Herbs gardens are great. It gives you a source of fresh herbs or you can dry them, many as I said have healing or soothing qualities, plus they just make the yard smell nice. It is also just fun to have a lot of differnt types that may not make the yard fragrant but you can go and rub and smell them up close.
  13. You can't pass up this one Do you like em' Live?, Do you like em' Nude? Do like em' to be cats? http://www.livenudecats.com
  14. Oh man, I am crying here. I think that is my new favorite site. Thankyou DaddyHO! Here is my new preacher. He is clearly filled to overflowing.
  15. Holy Crap! They have my favorite song on there too! warning, if your head spontaneously combusts at the sound of the F word, don't listen. It is a "happy" song
  16. Yep, liquer and ammo are always a good idea. I like the crank radio but not the ejaculight I mean self recharging flashlight. I used to work at REI and we played around with it at times. It might work for close up things for a few minutes at a time but unless you have a repressed teenaged boy whose muscules for that sort of shaking are in great shape, you will probobly grow tried and just not use it after a while. the concept is cool though. Slow wick candles are good, so are the lanterns that you can get for them. Glow sticks are good and cheap as well for real emergencies. Don't forget your duct tape, terrists can sometimes be blown in on those huricanes and you may need it.
  17. WOW, Ex, thanks, that is insanity.
  18. Well that makes more sense, Satori. Especially after seeing all his followers raising their arms upright and saying "Heil Heil!". Which we all know means "Shwing!"
  19. OK I guess that first sentence wasn't true. LOL :D-->
  20. Well, I don't know what to say. I think that if one believes in the idiom of permission, then Ezek 14:1-8 is much more easily explained than the Benjamite account. Ezek. can then be interpreted as someone is not doing the will of God so therefore they are cutting themselves off from God and that the way it is put in the verse is more of a figure of speech. In Judges it is not so easily explained away. I don't like going thru all the hoops and stretches to explain how God really is good, really he is. Obviously, as you know my belief system doesn't neccessarily include a God but I am speaking from the stand point of one trying to understand what is written, not how to conform what is written to fit my belief. (Not saying that you are doing that either.) IMO though, Danny's Marcionian view is more plausable, but then you go against the one God idea. The God of the OT seems very different from the God of the NT. (Can I say "Danny's Marcionian" :)-->?) In the OT there is a lot of this sort of thing. "If you don't do what I say, I will make an example out of you. Oh yes, you will pay and then eveyone will know that I am who I say I am." The concept itself seems a little desperate and insecure. Personally, I am what I am, regardless of what others think. I define who I am, despite whether anyone believes me. I make art. When I intend what I do to be such, it is art regardless of what anyone else says it is. IMO, reacting to what someone says or thinks about you in a hurtful and agressive way is a sign of insecurity. This is why Bullies bully. I know people put it in the father child dynamic most of the time, but you probably recall all of the problems I have with that. I know that when I react to my son in a negative physical way (grabbing too hard, picking him up forcefully etc. I don't hit) or I scream at him really loud because he doesn't do what I say or does something wrong, my reaction is more of a reflection on me and less on his actions or inactions. I know there are better ways to instruct him and the vast majority of the time that is how I conduct myself. My negative response is more representative of my fustration and not his wrong doing. There are ways to be stern and strick and effective in your instruction and your inforsement of it without being negative, mean, and reactionary. Consistency, for one, is very effective. I know, I know, we were all hit growing up and we turned out OK. That is fine, us humans are resiliant creatures. But I will say there is many times a lasting negative effect on many people. You reap what you sow, ya know? I agree that dealing with problems and the consequences of your actions is a character builder. I have said before how I waht my kid to be one of those fringe kids. The kid that gets made fun of occasionally, that deals with bullies, those are the most intersting adults you meet. Adversity builds character. Not that I will put him directly in those situations, but I want to teach him to be himself and that it is OK to be different. It is a wonderful thing. You don't realise that as a kid, but it really is a great freedom. On a grander scale here I think we are saying the same things a lot of times. Where I think we get into trouble is in the explaining of God. I think that people get introuble in trying to relate the personage of God. I think that what we are really trying to explain are those great morals. If you do this, this will happen. If you treat others this way, this is what you will get in return. Etc. Morals, ethics, social responsibility, the things that hopefully a healthy person learns as they get older and have learned from their mistakes or has learned from other's wisdom. When we try to give these laws of consequence a pesonality, it never works out perfectly. There is always that stretching and squeezing and hoop humping. I know it may be thought that I am speaking very superficially in a spiritual context, but I don't see it that way. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, respect, these are the things that make life enjoyable and make you enjoyable to be around and inturn help make others enjoyable to be around. Treat others the way you want to be treated and usually you will be. That is in that Benjamite story as well. These are not superficial things these are the meat of life, in my very natural perspective some of the greatest things about humans in life. (The world around us is still more enjoyable to me) Everything else is the way of negativity, the way of destruction, the way of death. In the end this is what we are talking about, the great battle within, the battle of action and consequence. How will you live your life? Choose life. This is how I see things. I think for the most part you se it this way too. We are just looking at it from different vantage points, but we are looking at the same thing. I hope this helps, because I think this is the clearest I have ever put it. Thanks for the opportunity to do so.
  21. ...and in doing so they were complicit in the murders of all those people.
  22. Oh we will repair things as needed, I am just not anticipating anything major. But of course, I could be wrong. Let's say I am optimistic about it. It is a good property and has many new and newer appliances that were put in just before we bought it. But the normal wear and tear won't be much. When we went to the management company we figured in all the expenses including the management % so that we might break even. She told us the going rate for a place such as our in our neighborhood was still more. Its not rented yet, but I think we have a few bites and it should go soon.
  23. Perhaps the article you are refering to is thisGoing My Way from the early 80's It has someone named Sue Martin asking "Did you know that when a person makes a contribution to the Nazi Party that they are sent a pamphlet written by Dr. Wierwille?" "No I did not know that until right now Where did you find out your information from Sue?" The question is never answered. I'm looking into it. I'll let you know if anything pans out. Sue, If you visit here, Come Forth!
  24. I get it Mark, but I don't see how that lines up the rest of the Bible. Maybe you could show me other places in there where someone says "Hey God, which one of us should commit murder first?" or "Hey God, which one of us should commit homosexual rape first?" and God answers and says "You with the curly hair." Seems the answer should be, "hey, remember, Thous shalt commit no murder, dummy!" Maybe it is my wayfer alignment and harmony build up that is stuck in the brain, but it just seems a little strange that God purposefully directs someone into bad consiquences. It doensn't fit with the umbrella idea. Instead of walking out of the protection and getting hit by an anvil, God says hey step to your left while your out there and WHAM it hits you. When they did seek advise the right advise wasn't there, ie. "Don't go and kill all the Benjamites." It seems more like a magic 8 ball sort of answer...you have to ask the right questions to get the right answer. I remember the other moral that I liked (having cooled down now). Don't rush to war! Have some compassion, humility, meekness, understanding and all that instead. Couldn't imagine why you of all people would post something like that. ;)-->
  25. I shold have said that is 25- 30% a year on those homes. Not bad.
