Oh no they di ent. LMAO

Damn, that is harsh. The first half of your post gave me hope of seeing a few people someday...then the guy went back? Amazing. Actually, my parents were put on "probation" twice. The first time I was told not to contact them and they were told the same of us kids. That was rough getting a letter from my mom telling me they wouldn't be talking with me for a while. Coming back wasn't a hard choice in that instance. You want to be ablt to talk to your kids. The second time contact was discouraged but not so emphatically stated. Still all us kids were still in so I would imagine that was incentive. I've known or known of a few more. I believe the D@rnells came back, then maybe left again. A handful of other in our area came back after a year or two out. Craziness. I do hope I will see or hear from some of my old friends at some point.

Now you're talkin'. Garlic is always good and lamb is no different. Some tyme or rosemary in there is not a bad idea eiter. but you're throwing me with the mint jelly. The only good thing I can think of for mint jelly is a PB&J for St. Patricks Day, and that would only taste good after quite a few stouts.

What he should have said was....next time eat your after birth. That is why animals don't get post-pardom. Some people on the other side of the pond still do this. Anyways, I wish would have seen Tom make such an foot out of himself. I would have enjoyed that part of it. What an idiot.

Why would anyone destroy a good peice of lamb with mint jelly. That is near blasphemy. In regards to HCW's post a page back... I think that perhaps your right about the decision to stay in the area, at least I hope so. But I don't think I can judge a parent soley on the character of their teenaged child, although there is some merit to it. I was out with some younger wafers one WinB conference, which included one Leah Martindale. She had told us her dad wanted her back by a certain time. Well time went on and we had lost track of it and DOH! it was almost time for her to be back and we hadn't even eaten yet. Well the rest of us were a little concerned knowing that her father was the big spit spewing guy that had final say over our spiritual lives. lol She told us to relax her dad wasn't a monster, he was actually really cool. Well we know how the story ends. Her dad was not all that cool when it came to many things. Leah seemed like a decent kid, maybe still is, doesn't make her parents the shining example of greatness. Harve may have raised a good kid, but he also could be the prick that many here know of first hand.

I had a number of good rooms when we lived there. Our first room was great. It was huge. The kicker was that my parents and baby brother and older brother had to share it. It wasn't as bad for us as it was for my parents lol. The next block they gto to keep the room with the baby and we moved next door. The two rooms were seperated from everything else by a door. It was private and nice. Most of our accomodations were pretty good while there. During the AC though it was usually four to a room. That wasn't as bad as the communal showers in the west wing. I posted a while back that I had stopped by the campus a year or so ago. I remembered it as much bigger. Befoer that I hadn't been there since I was 18 or 19. I even talked to a guy riding around in an old cushman. I acted as thought I didn't know what the place was and he explained the sports retreat concept. Apparently, the women's olympic soccer team was to train there at some point. IMO it didn't look like the grounds were kept that well. But then again these guys don't have the hords of free corps laborers. Which included us mini and junior corps, I might add. The apple orchard looked like it was on its way out. I even got my picture in front of the "reserved for the coprs coordinator" parking sign over by the circle. You can see the new baseball fields if you google map "Rome City" and click the satelite image button.

As stated in another thread....it isn't the best idea to tell your kids to not talk to strangers. As quoted above, the kid's greatest fear was that someone would steal him. The don't talk to strangers cliche could have killed this kid. There are better ways to teach your kid about strangers and what to do when they're alone.

Hope you had a good day. And happy unadopted fathers day. :)--> I missed that one too.

Perhaps what Raf was refering to was the brother. Although I figured it was him and figured that is how he would be "coming home".

Saw it it tonight. Very good. editing of it was fantastic. The story was very real and true to humanity. Nothing is so black and white. Everything is more complicated than our superficial generalizaations and characterizations. I don't know what movie that reviewer laleo refered to was watching or what world they live in, but I though it was very real depiction of many people. Perhaps you do need to live in a diverse area to know the validity of the stereotypes, but IMO the movie showed how they can be either true or false. That is why they are stereotypes. It is true for some, just not all, and IMO not the majority. I don't think the daughter had read the box. For some reason that is the one thing I didn't see coming. It seemed obvious at the end though. But inspite of the fact that I saw most things coming I was still throroghly entertained and strung along with the tenseness and tragedy. It was painful to watch at certain moments. Very thought-provoking and a reality check. Racism is alive and kicking on many different levels. Perhaps you need to live in a diverse area to realise that. Even in the rather liberal and relatively monochromatic town I now live in has seen 3 violent events in the past 2 weeks involving racism. I hightly recommend it. Geez just seeing the pic Raf posted still gives me goose bumps.

like as we are yet without sin, is how the verse goes. I believe it was LCM that refered to that verse after speaking on the torture of JC and specifically referencing how the soldiers "made sport" of JC. He basically said,"see tempted in all things, even homosexuality. What a messed up thing to say. As if being homosexually raped or hetro for that matter is a temptation to enjoy it. The whole concept of rape is that you don't want it and really don't enjoy it. Maybe this sheads even more light on his warped sexual ideas and practices. Perhaps we could go thru the Bible or just extrapolate a little and examine this "tempted in all things like as we are, yet without sin" statement. Quote some verses and splain the tempations. We know the direct devil and satan temptations in the wilderness. What others can you find?

WOW, Kit, you must really be throwing down some cash for all that Noni. Delete, Even if the drug companies get ahold of the vitamin production and REGULATE WHAT ACTAULLY GOES INTO THOSE PILLS, you aren't going to need a prescription. You know the medicine aile in your grocery store, usually where all the vitamins are? All those other medicines are made by drug companies. You don't need a prescription at my grocery store. Don't be afraid just be happy that someone cares enough to make sure what you are putting in your mouth is actually what you think it is.

You'd be suprised at how little craftiness or skill you need to be a successfull crafter. It doesn't hurt, but like I was saying I am one of those people that looks at things in stores and says "I can do that". Or many times I am saying "You've go to be kidding me they are selling this for how wuch? I could make that for 10 and they are selling it for 90." That just happened today. Many things are very simple to make, you just need to start doing them and see what works and what people like. I mean the "Life is good" guys, have a teeshirt with a stick figure on it. A STICK FIGURE. That drives me nuts. This year I believe they are doing like 14 million in sales. It is one of those, "Why didn't I think of that" moments. Many time for me it is not that I didn't think about it, but that I though about it and did nothing. I see my ideas all the time gracing the pages of high end design magazines. They just did it first. DAMMIT!

You can see many stories like I posted above in those entrepreneurial magazines. They are vary inspiring and sometimes spark ideas.

...so my one post wasn't so long.... For example, There was a 15 year old kid who went to a provate school, in NY somewhere I believe. he didn't like the ties he had to wear. So one day he saw a bandana and made it into a tie. People loved it. He made others and people loved them and wanted to know where to get one. They took him to long to make so he found a place to manufacture his designs. He is now 18 I think, and is a multimillionaire. Perhaps you have seen the "life is good" teeshirt line. The usually have a short positive message like "life is good" and a little stick figure doing something like hiking or just smiling. The shirts are made by two brothers that originally just drove from campus to campus selling shirts to college kids. When they came up with the little stick guy shirt, they took off. Now you see their shirts at REI and other stores nation wide and are making boat loads of money. Another lady, was a painter. A successful painter, as successful as a painter can be these days, selling about 100 painting a year. See was hired to do an installation for a school or office, I forget. After much research and quite a bit of her own money she came up with a unique way of dying acrilic sheets. She patented the proccess and used them as room dividers and light filters etc. People like it so much she just started getting more and more jobs. Now she is dowing a huge job of IBM and has had to move to a giant warehouse and quadruple her staff. Needless to say she is rolling now. Not to say that being a multi-millionaire is or should be your goal, but making money IS the name of the game. BUT Being rich monetarily is one thing and then there is being rich as in doing something you love and loving all of your life as a result of it, not just you days off, lol. Do what comes natural, what comes to you with easy or take an idea you have and believe in yourself and your idea and make it happen. If your good with people and good with getting them together maybe start a makerting group and spread them across your state and then to the next state and on and on or however big or small you want it and are comfortable with. So I hope this thread give you some ideas. I am looking forward to see how it goes.

Vickles, I think mstar has it right. Do waht ya like. Better yet do what ya love. My problem is not that I don't know what I like, but I like too many things. So I am starting with the one that seems like will transition the easiest to the others. Like stepping stones, so that eventually as long as everything goes well, I may have a business with many susidiaries under it. Of course the first one will hvae to take off first. I made custom furniture part-time before moving a month and a half ago. When I arrived here I decided I needed to get serious. So I have been doing a lot of homework. It may still be a while before it takes off, but when it does that will be something. I have heard from many sources that at times people get started in a business that was, like mine, a former hobby and find they liked it as a hobby and not as a business. IMO to combat that spiral of death, start with learning the business of business, be prepared. I could say plan, but that has been so ruined by twi. So I say prepare. :)--> You can plan all you want, but life doesn't always decide to go along with your plan, so prepare so that you can be successful regardless of what life throws at you. Anyway. I once thought of starting an indoor plant business. I worked for one years ago. You go around to offices, restaurants, malls, hospitals etc. and maintain the plants. It is a cush, fun job. You just travel around watering, dusting, and grooming plants all day while talking with the people at the offices etc you go to. One down side to it though, is as a one person or small business you have to take small mini-vacations. You can't exactly go for a month, the plants will die. My plan now is to do custom furniture and sell my art. From there I will transition into some interior design, maybe starting with kitchens for example. Later I would like to have a small store featuring my work with some accessories etc. If the interior design part works out I would like to go outside as well and do landscape design (more and more people are having "outdoor rooms" on their patios and decks). I am also in the process of designing furniture that can be mass produced and distributed on a larger scale...things like modular shelving systems. If all goes well and I become a high roler, LOL, I would like to invest and be apart of a restaurant. Food and dining out is my favorite way of watching my money disappear. :P--> Well sorry for rampling. Maybe start by telling us about your hobbies. If you don't have any, maybe there was something at one time that you enjoyed as a kid or in college or whatever. What do you think about or talk about a lot (other than TWI :D-->). Are there things you see in the store you pass by and say "I could do that". Once throw out some thoughts like that maybe we can help you make something really happen. I wouldn't dismiss anything in perticular on account of thinking you won't make any money. You never know, and if you plan...I mean prepare for success you are more likey to be a success, and to the degree of success you desire. ....
