  1. I saw that listed at the local theater here, but didn't see it. Spellbound was great. Maybe we will make go see this one too.
  2. OK I changed my mind here's another one of my favorites: "When I go places I just don't care You'd know why if you'd see what I wear Black slacks pegged fourteen Black slacks, really are keen Black slacks make a cool daddy-o When I put them on I'm a-rarin' to go" :D--> cool daddy-O
  3. Ok maybe that was a little obscure, at least for this crowd. ;)--> The title is "Rollercoaster" go figure, by The Red House Painters. A great band that is not all that new I think this song was from 93' maybe. This next one won't be quite as obscure but if you can 't figure it out you will probably be able to google it. I tried to do that for The Red House Painters just to make sure the lyrics were right, but I found that they don't have a site of their own anymore or a page of lyrics. The singer, Mark Kozelek, has formed a new group called Sun Kil Moon.
  4. happy birthday, George you share this date with my wife. We will be celebrating with you on a mountain somewhere. Hope your day is a good one.
  5. Timtim, well as a female with a name like timtim, I can't say I know you. ;)--> Although, my family was in pretty deep (family corps, etc.) and I knew many local wayfers and staffers, so if you've been in the Ohio area for long maybe we do know eachother. BluzieQ, That could be along story. Maybe look up my story in the "my story" forum and find the thread entitled "put this in your pipe and smoke it" (an old VP saying if you didn't know already, not just a drug reference, haha). That gives a number of reasons as well as some crazy stories. I think I could boil it down to a simple idea though. After many years of sitting thru classes, seeing people come and go, never "winning" anyone to "the Word", etc etc., I began to wonder what was it that made people believe. "How do I reach those people?" Martinfail made a new class with a similar session to the PFAL session "The integrity of the Word". "This is what it all comes down to", they would say. Their answer? "lets go to the Word of God and see what it says about itself." Seemed kinda circular. The title of the session itself was circular. I eventually realised that I didn't believe the Bible was the revealed Word of God anymore than any other book claiming the same was. So while some here picked away at this doctrine and that doctrine (not that there is anything wrong with that), I wacked my foundation right out from under myself. LOL Somehow taking it all instide. As I have moved on in a very different direction (agnostic) I have come to think that perhaps I never really believed most of it. As to having a whole family in and leaving, my wife is amazed at how well I just moved on. I don't know why I was able to do it but I did. I did have the support of my wife (who wasn't my wife at the time), father and his wife, and many of my good friends from college. I doubt I could have done it without that support. Thank you for saying it took guts. The closest thing that I can compare it to is maybe a gay person coming out to their family and friends. I did have a then friend call me a coward for not discussing my issues with them, but I knew that none of them had the answers to my reasons and any reason I gave them would just be used against me ie. "see he's possessed". So I said F*^K em', let them think what they will. They will think the same regardless of what I say. well that was longer than anticipated, but read my story that has more details in it....and is much longer. Maybe it'll help in some way and like I said you can always email me if you like.
  6. Mr Pmosh is another who was raised in TWI, although he may have decided to take a break from here for a while.
  7. Welcome BluzieQ, I like the name too. I was raised in TWI as well. My mom, my brother and I got involved in 1980, I believe, when I was 5. I now have my mom, step-dad, 2brothers,and their families in twi still. So, I understand the issues you are dealing with. It took me a little longer to wake up I think. I left about 5? years ago. I don't know, it seems like light years. I think to a degree the relationship and the decision to discuss these things depends largely on the individual families. It was tough for me at first. I was concerned they wouldn't talk to me ever again (not an uncommon practice in the late 90's and early 00's). It took them a while to come around. Getting married, having a kid and living a life that was still morally and ethically agreeable as well as being healthy and happy in general must have helped them too. We too have some sort of unspoken agreement to not talk about beliefs or anything of major substance. Although, that just seems to be how our family has communicated for quite some time. I would love to have some deep, challenging, and thoughtful conversations regarding twi doctrine or philosophy or science, but I realize that they don't react to new ideas or confrontational POV the way I do. I am still their kid. I know they love me, but I can't help but be a little concerned about how they view me as a person. I suppose that is what hinders me. But, in recent months I have been able to challenge their personal, social and world views (which have all been shaped by TWI). I think that has had to help them think a little differently. If nothing else it is helpful for me to do so. I would say if you discuss things with your parents it would be in your interest to really be careful in the way you state your opinions. Some people are good at this some are not. I think I tend to be pretty good about this in person. Don't judge this based on my online discussion ;)-->. I think one good way to do this is probably the same way you learned to think critically in college. Ask a lot of questions. Steer them to your point by directing the questions in that fashion. Allow them to come to your conclusion, whether they believe it or not. That alone helps people to begin thinking in new ways. This can be very challenging for you. You have to start from their viewpoint and work you way out of it before hand. In TWI all the answers were there for us. As others have said, to realize that your were wrong or to challenge a long held belief is a huge step for anyone and sometimes an impossible step. My approach has been to not cause too much contention and to slowly slip in comments until we arrived at a point were we could have a discussion. They don't usually get far, but you have to start somewhere I suppose. You can always reach me at my email in my profile if you would like to discuss something privately. Lindy
  8. Mmmm. rice pudding. If there is not already a rice pudding month that I am unaware of, then Bush needs make it so. Lets see what month would he use. Maybe February? Nah, he wouldn't do that. Or would he? December? Nah, don't want to over shadow Christmas with rice pudding. Maybe August. If he doesn't I vote that we celebrate it anyway. :P--> I loves me some rice pudding.
  9. Sorry, I was trying to think of a good one, then I had to go, and then I forgot about it. How bout this. "there goes my favorite Rollercoaster next to the blue water the one only sissies ride"
  10. LMAO, that is funny. Hey, I saw this at the drive-in and I actually watched the movie. Oh well, the life of parenthood.
  11. We did this at the Planetarium in Bmore years ago. Apparenly they did it manually which wasn't quiet as accurate but you could see what the books refer to. It didn't look like much if you didn't know what you were looking at, just a bunch of stars and planets. Definitely not the giant laser beam shooting down into Bethlaham. At the time it seemed like proof of something. Now, not so much, but I won't go into that.
  12. yeah what Kevlar said, "The Gospel According to Biff" is a great book.
  13. The article says this is the "first case in the animal kingdom of males reproducing exclusively by cloning, although male honeybees do it occasionally". There are many interesting ways of reproducing but this seems to be a first, in terms of discovery.
  14. Just had some cookies and cream a little bit ago. Yum I think my favorite is Eddie's Apple Pie. It is one of those special ice creams they only offer from just before thanksgiving to just after New Years. It is so good. It is almost like they just dump some apple pie in the vanilla mix. I don't know how they do it but the apples are nice and chewy, not frozen as you might think they would be after sitting in a freezer with ice cream. Eddie's old fashion is good too. We used to go to a place in Bmore that made thier own. It was called Beach Bums. They supposedly went to the same school of ice cream making as Ben and Jerry. Yes there is a school for it.
  15. As many know I have way corps family and "alumni" family. They are all still truly genuine people, at least from what I see. They still seem to be the same old family they always were (for the most part). The corps folks really think they are making some sort of a difference. I would imagine that if they are anything like what they are when they're around me that people probably respect them and like them. Then again, there may be people who think they are total a$$h*les. I don't know. I have known some decnt corps and I have known some evil ones. The LC in my last area was nice on the surface, but his true colors were shown after I decided to leave. Now he can't look at me without the hate seeping thru that plastic smile, if I get a smile at all. Growing up in a corps family, I have seen that most wanted to make a change and were good people. When they went full time a while back many of the good ones were weeded out, leaving most of the LCM wanta be's to help destroy people's lives in the promised land. As far as being smart, well I don't think it has anything to do with that. Many smart people joined the TWI, many left and went to a near identicle off shoot, then there are those of us who look at any "believer" and scratch our heads, but intelligence is not, or is not always a factor. There are many variables that affect each individual person and are not the same from one to another.
  16. That twould be Linkin Park- High Voltage One of my favorite rap rock screaming rage type bands.

    Vacation!

Be careful Ham. As my rafting guide said before our ride down the great Gauly River, "If you loose a tooth, be sure to find it, if you don't they won't let you leave West Virginia" :D--> Have "Wild and Wonderful" time.
  18. Don't read this if you haven't seen the movie or read the book. --------------------------------------------- I havn't read the book, so I don't know if it was this disjointed and contradictory as the movie seemed. If they ate humans for food or fuel or whatever why kill so many of them in the begining? What was with the roots? not answered What was with the birds? not answered, at least not clearly. What was with the God reference at the end? What was with all the shallow and meaningless friend characters? (two guys in the beginning, lady with child by the ferry) None of them were developed enough to care about them at all. Same with the guy in the basesment, seemed unneccessary. He didn't seem like a ambulance driver, more like a child molester. Maybe he was both? TC actually seemed to act well as a scumback father in the beginning but then went back to his acting like Tom Cruise repertoire. It was entertaining to a degree, but I was left feeling like to many things were unexplained or over simplified and it seemed to go by and end rather quickly.
  19. Oh THAT'S what he meant by "hand in a glove". it is all so clear now.
  20. Have you ever run naked thru the White House, yelling "I'm as happy as a little girl"? Yeah I thought so.
  21. OK , Now you've gone off the deep end, David. Smoking being bad for your helath is based on psuedoscience, and oxy water is based on cold hard facts? And I guess we need not discuss this any further seeing as all anyone needs is a healthy dose of Bible reading. That really says it all. BTW I have had many people tell me how the telling of my story and my twi experinces and what I have learned since have helped them in many differnt ways, and I'm an agnostic. My experiences are just that, and they don't have to be excepted by anyone to make them real, neither does anyone else's. My name is Matt and f^*k you very much. If the lack of a real name aggravates you so much I would suggest dealing with people in person and leave the internet behind. Your name is supposedly David Anderson but for all I know it could be Gearhard Funkernickle. For all I know everyone on this thread that agrees with you or defends you in some way could be you as well. You see that is the way of the internet, anonymity. If you don't like the code then this is not the game for you. Go back to the Bible where you just know that everything is true and every name is accurate and at one time actually existed. That should give you a long and healthy life inspite of being a human smoke stack. I'm glad we got back on track with all this : )
  22. I do plan on eating ice cream. everyday every meal with snacks in between I was farely young still when Reagan's time was up, but I always knew he was good for somthin'. National Ice Cream Month, that is quite an accomplishment. And ya know, it really does need a whole month. Just one day wouldn't suffice. And to have it in July, the month we celabrate our independence as a country for a day, man that took some balls. Speaking of which, do you like little "jimmies" on your ice cream?
  23. Yes, Allen, we left the name-calling and antagonistic ministry and entered the name-calling and antagonistic world. But back to the thread. Linda, With all due respect. You want the same thing as the rest of us. For some reason some people think that the burdon of proof is on the people who say oxygenated water is a way to a good burp. It is not. The burdon is on the ones making the fantastic claims. The proof of how we get oxygen is known to anyone with a high school diploma (and remembers what they were taught :)-->). You get it from breathing it. Whether it be from Colodado, China, a hyperbaric Chamber, or an Oxygen Bar, you inhale it and it goes thru what a Bible believer as David believes is God's less efficient design. The reality is that Oxygen freely displaces out of water. See the bubbles? That is what is happening. Gas exchange happens in the lungs. The Lymph system is not as extensive as the blood stream. Its primary function is that of immunity. Its absorbtion of fluid goes to the blood stream not directly to cells. Water is good for you. Drinking more of it is good for you. H2O doesn't form a "water membrain" around anything. It is a very stable molocule. Point being there is a whole hell of a lot that is known abour oxygen, how our bodies take it in and use it. Anyone claiming a new way of gas exchange needs to go thru the process the rest of the people that brought us our current knowledge had to go thru. As you said "we want proof". Now that last statement seems to draw fire from David, including name calling. Why he doesn't do the same for you, I can only imagine is because while you also want proof, you defend him, from the "usual pilers". The medical field is not like the judicial system, innocent untill proven guilty or true until proven false. As I said the burdon of prood is on David. He thumbs his nose at that and those that demand it. SO here we are, on an unrelated tangent, that still proves nothing. If David would give some proof, some here would be happy to say it isn't samke oil. He won't it's not there, I have looked, talked to DRs, my genius wife who's an epi., and a Chemist in passing. After they got done laughing, they explained what I already knew. If people want to drink the stuff great, it they feel better great. If it realy was a miracle drink that had scientific support, DRs would be on it doing the research and getting a Pulitzer. They would love nothing more. If this thread would just DIE we would all be much happier and therefore healthier (not a bogus claim). BTW, it does matter "who started it", at least it does when you are "poo-pooing" the "nay sayers" and defending the one that started cr@*ing on everyone with a different opinion.
  24. My guess would be that the description of a psychopath in some ways mirrors qualities of a TWIt leader. More accuately, though, they would be called sociopaths. I there was a thread on that a while back.
