  1. I faked it too. Preplanned what I was going to say. I also felt "inspired" sometimes, but I believe it was my subconscience from hearing the same things over and over through the years. I still SIT in my private prayer life, but I don't feel a need for a believer's meeting. I can hear exhortation and comfort in my own language just as well.
  2. Thanks for the information. I wanted to see that movie. I really like Ben Stiller. He's making quite a name for himself in comedies. We watched "Along came Polly" last night. I liked the toilet scene after they went to the Indian restaurant.
  3. I don't practice the law of believing bull.... any longer. I let God take care of things His way. I don't tell Him what to do anymore. I find a great deal of peace in my new attitude because I know He knows what I need more than I do.
  4. I felt love-bombed when I first started twigging it. I remember thinking several women in the fellowship may be lesbians trying to pick up on me. I had my guard up for a long time because they were so huggy and kissy. I remember during the 11th or 12th session of pfal (where you learn to speak in tongues), I was ready to dart out the door because I was so freaking scared. I didn't truly become indoctrinated into twi until the following year after I was convinced I would make a good WOW. Every body made a good WOW. That was a line to get you to go so you could grow.......are we gagging now?? They had a goal to meet of 2,000 WOWs back then.
  5. Friends, family, and fellow workers were the mainstream people that twi tried to reach. My mom was witnessed to by some friends that she and my dad had know for over 20 years. Those friends were newbies in twi. They got my mom, cousing, and me involved just like Ala Prochaine said. We were invited to fellowship and then pressured to take the class. The pressure for classes never stopped until you took them all. Then you were expected to be on the class crews while other people took it. It was a vicious circle, and we were convinced that we were serving God's Word on a silver platter........when in fact we were used as free labor to pitch twi's classes.
  6. What is the promising thing to keep the remaining approximately 2,993,000 JWs in if they aren't "one of the elect"?
  7. Brenda is a sex addict. I think she was trying to pursue a "normal" sexual relationship--unlike her previous ones where she got cheap thrills having sex with strangers. She said she wanted to get to know him, and 90 days was her time period she gave herself.
  8. They were assigned to work regular jobs at HQ in 2001. I don't know where they are today.
  9. I missed last week's show, but I was kinda shocked about the beginning of last night's episode with the helium-filled sex dolls floating up in the air. That lady had to have been hallucinating to see angels and think it was Jesus coming back. Anywhooo, it made an interesting scene, a sadly funny one. Sorry, am I sick? The whole thing was just so unbelievable. Then the ending topped the cake (or shall I say turd pile???)
  10. Presiden'ts Cabinet have department coordinators they oversee in their "cabinet" area, along with being the coordinator of their own department. twi equates them with region coordinators. It seems a lot of the previous cabinet members are doing something else. Two new cabinet members who were ordained are not cabinet members list (St*v* L*ngl*y and M*k* Pr*ll). Ex10: If I remember correctly, John Reynolds went to work in the purchasing deparatment after his trustee assignment. I don't think he was even the department coordinator. That is why his assignment is not announced anymore.
  11. Girl from Oz, Thanks for the clarification on the 144,000. The thing I wonder about that number is: Doesn't that make God a respector of persons? I always knew Him not to be. How do the JWs explain that if the question comes up? And what do they say happens to those who didn't "make it" in the 144,000? I'm just curious. Oh, 1914. Is that the year JWs claim Jesus came back? If so, what is their proof? Sorry for all the questions.
  12. Welcome to the cafe Girl from Oz. I think Refiner understands very well where ex-wayfers have come from. I think he has fit in quite well here at the cafe, as I am sure you will also. Some times it is good to chat with others from different cult backgrounds to see the similarities in their tactics. I bet you are relieved that you don't have to work so darn hard to be one of the 144,000 (did I get the number right?). I am glad I learned that I wasn't going to die if I left the household of The Way. I've been out for 1 1/2 years, and I am doing quite well actually.
  13. I thinkg WERD is a GenerationX term.
  14. I noticed a few newly graduated corpse people are limb coord, and is that bob moneyhand's son on the prez cab since moneyhands himself will still be in florida? I also notice a few young guys on the prez cab. I'm a little surprised actually. Wonder where all the others went?
  15. Bow, Great idea about CO!! I had never been to Gunnison either, so CO can be just a CO memory. I will NEVER go to Ohio (or the midwest) if I can help it. I still have dreams about corn and soybean fields. Derail: Bowtwi I posted a link for my wedding pictures under the picture thingy.....sorry, I haven't had coffee yet.
  16. When I left HQ, my best friend went to Gunnison. This was in 2001. I talked to her quite a few times after she went there, and she said she was riding horses and fishing a lot. It probably looks deserted because there are hardly any "committed" ones who want to be in the kork.
  17. Steve! The OMSTW book didn't come out until 1985. veepee wasn't at roa 1985. He was pushing up daisies. I remember the book being released after he died. I remember the hooplah being made about his last book......oh, the man of gawd is fallen asleep, and we won't have any more coming from him.....Mine was hardly read. That's what I thought about it.
  18. Has anybody had any wayfers knock on their door? I used to be paranoid that they would when I first left, so I prepared myself with what I would say to them.
  19. Yeah, Geer didn't write that book posthumously. I thought veepee wrote it before he died. Otherwise twi wouldn't be selling that book in their bookstore. They got rid of Geer's posthumously written books.
  20. Refiner, Before you go paying top dollar for "The New, Dynamic Church", you should check at a used bookstore. I'm sure if there is one there, you could get it for next to nothing. I used to see veepee's books floating around at places like that. I have the book, but I have already promised it to someone else. Have you spent a lot of time involving yourself in cults? It seems with your involvement with the JWs and this seminar you attended, you interest yourself in that kind of stuff. I am not being judgmental of you, just wondering why. I kinda like church now, and I never thought I would step a foot in a church while involved in twi. Have you checked out the guys that veepee plagerized his books from?
  21. Refiner, you should have asked here on GSC. I have two of those books for sale--a 20 year old one when I took that class and another one brand new I got when they were purging the stock from the headquarters bookstore. I would have sold the old one for $12 and the brand new one for $20 (plus shipping). If you want any of the other books vpw wrote, just ask me. I have some still hanging around which I know will not sell in my garage sale. I have Jesus Christ Is Not God Jesus Christ, Our Passover Jesus Chris Our Promised Seed Receiving the holy spirit Today I have a few others if you are interested. The only stipulation I have is that you don't believe every thing you read. J/K!! I just hope you won't.
  22. JT, Oh yeah, now I remember. Usually I get frustrated when I forget things (happens a lot since I turned 40 :D-->), but this time it's good that I'm forgetting the crap I was taught.
  23. I really liked David Crawley while I was at HQ. I had hoped that his in-laws' exit out of twi would wake him up. Sorry for the derail.
  24. I agree counseling can be a great tool to move on. I know there are many great counselors out there who are not constantly analyzing people, but truly want to help them. I think getting recommendations from people you know is a betteer way to choose one. Wayward, don't you think it is ironic that lcm shunned people using counseling or psychiatrists, yet he used the fact that psychology used to categorize homosexuality as a psychological problem.
  25. He had a painting which depicted adam, eve, and another woman. I can't remember if the other woman was part snake/part human to illstrate that eve was being seduced. Ironically he used this painting to prove that other people thought the same thing. So that MUST make it true. But then he couldn't take credit for shedding new light then.....I just wonder how he didn't know the artist of the painting wasn't on drugs or had a fantasy about that kind of thing. The only thing with martinpuke's stupid theory is that he missed telling us what adam's sin was. Did the devil come into concretion as a man, and adam had sex with him? Or did he join eve and the other serpent/woman? I guess he thougt that was as far as the BS could go at that point. Oh, who cares. It just doesn't make sense.
