Here's what tonto said about the timeframe of the picture:

I left The Way 3 years ago. I went through many emotional changes because I was involved from age 19 to 39. I believed everything they taught--hook, line and sinker. Their doctrine saturated my adult thinking. After I checked out several Way offshoots, I realized I was questioning everything I was taught, and I mean everything. I don't know that I believe in the trinity hook, line, and sinker, but I am at least 90% sure that I agree with it now. As a result of my changes, I don't think it is a pressing issue to me like it used to be. I don't think that salvation is dependent upon believing the trinity. I do think that how you think of Jesus and your relationship with him makes a huge difference in your Christian faith. I don't freak out when I hear people pray to Jesus. Sometimes I address my prayers to Jesus and sometime to Father. Either way, I know I am heard. I don't want to judge anyone who doesn't believe in it because I know where I was at for many years.

Patriot, They went to North Carolina when they left HQ. I don't know if they are in or out.

I don't think so Rascal. I think how people were treated between administrations was culturally-based or personality-based. Some people are just plain buttheads and never apologize. Some are remorseful after a period of time, and some are remorseful instantaneously. But then again, people can be remorseful and forget they were and continue on with their wrongs. They can be forgiven again and again. I struggle with this because I want them to pay NOW! But it's not up to me, and maybe God likes it that way. ;)

Patriot, We all know they will not admit this was wrong doctrinally. The fact they say they no longer M&A is a sugar-coated statement to possibly entice people back. RFR doesn't have the charisma to entice them, so she needs some mojo. It's rather kind of sickening to me that people at HQ refer to her as if she were the WOG. I have a friend at HQ who I am in contact with to this day. Our conversation is limited because the friend is guarded with what is shared since I am no longer involved. I just hope to shed some light that God is outside twi's hedge, and He is better than I ever dreamed in my 20 years in twi. Getting back on topic--sorry! I cannot imagine that RFR or any of the other BOT want to handle the decision of M&A. And they will not EVER admit wrong doctrine. One of the major things about twi is that it was run by a man who CONSTANTLY practiced error in his own life. Practical error ALWAYS leads to doctrinal error. Remember how many times lcm told us that in the dining room? Amazing. I cannot believe that they don't say that his teachings (Eve a lesbian to start with) is not right. But when did they ever admit they were wrong? We won't see it in this life-time. Like many things, I think the whole beginnings of M&A was grossly overemphasized by lcm to do what HE wanted to do AND put God's stamp of approval on it. It was wrong; it hurt many; and it was not godly.

Trigger Phrases used in TWI brainwashing
Nottawayfer replied to markomalley's topic in About The Way
This reminded me of a funny one. My WOW family coordinator used to mimic jokingly: "You know what killed that boy that day?" "I did! I killed that boy!" VP was still alive when he used to joke about this. This guy just came out of his first year in rez. Maybe it was one of those "You had to be there" moments..... -
Trigger Phrases used in TWI brainwashing

OK, everyone, be prepared to shudder. I feel a seizure coming on thinking about this one. "Would you be blessed to ____________________." It was never a question. You can fill in the blank, wash my car, baby-sit my kids, clean my house, and the list goes on and on....... -
Sudo, I didn't think you were that way...:)

Anybody here anything about them? I haven't talked to them in over 3 years since right before I left twi.

Did he even steal the character names (i.e., Maggy Muggins, Snowball Pete, Henry and/or Herman Balowko (sp?) etc.) from BG Leonard?

I think you guys got it. Here's the link I found: http://www.80smusiclyrics.com/artists/peterschilling.htm Major Tom - Coming Home Standing there alone The ship is waiting All systems are go Are you sure? Control is not convinced But the computer Has the evidence "No need to abort" The countdown starts Watching in a trance The crew is certain Nothing left to chance All is working Trying to relax Up in the capsule "Send me up a drink" Jokes Major Tom The count goes on CHORUS: 4...3...2...1... Earth below us Drifting falling Floating weightless Calling calling home... Second stage is cut We're now in orbit Stabilizers up Running perfect Starting to collect Requested data What will it affect When all is done Thinks Major Tom Back at ground control There is a problem Go to rockets full Not responding "Hello Major Tom Are you receiving Turn the thrusters on We're standing by" There's no reply CHORUS Across the stratosphere A final message "Give my wife my love" Then nothing more Far beneath the ship The world is mourning They don't realize He's alive No one understands But Major Tom sees Now the life commands This is my home I'm coming home Earth below us Drifting falling Floating weightless Coming home... Earth below us Drifting falling Floating weightless Coming home... Earth below us Drifting falling Floating weightless Coming coming home... Home.....

Nolongerlurking, So nice to "see" you! I've thought about you and wondered where you have been.

That is outrageous! What a crock! They are getting wayyyy too weird about stuff! I flew for Christmas, and when we returned we had a few more things than we left with. We put them in smaller bag and planned to put them under the seat and put our luggage in the rack above. We were not using any more space than without the bags. We still would have put our luggage above. We always fly with carry-on luggage. The gate nazis told us we couldn't take it. I put the smaller bags in my larger bag and said "OK! It's all one now!" They reluctantly let me through. I was trying to make a point that my small Christmas bags would fit fine under the seat in front of me without taking any EXTRA space. $80 for crutches....unfreekinbelievable.....

My WOW family ended up with 3 guys and 2 girls. We started out in Waco, Texas, with 2 guys and 2 girls. The family coord got booted, and they moved the remaining three of us to Midland, Texas, with 2 guys. We had 2 apartments next door to each other. Also in Midland were another family with 3 single moms and 2 single dads. Each had one child ranging in age from 3 to 14. Talk about a HUGE house!! They all stuck it out. Amazing to me.

Rascal, I'm picturing it all now! And I am laughing so hard thinking about those kids hustling the dogs out the door!! Your house sounds so festive! I am glad that things are looking up! This book ROCKS imho! My husband and I have no miscommunication when it comes to making each other feel loved. I really think the ideas in that book allowed us to start off on a good foot.

SO what was the Way Corps taught to think about the Rank and File
Nottawayfer replied to templelady's topic in About The Way
Corps should marry Corps. That is frustrating the hale out of a lot of single women in now, yet they are too waybrained to figure out that God IS trying to answer their prayers. It just won't happen in twi for the most part. I got a WC friend on Staff right now who WILL NOT give up her Corps commitment unless she finds a man who is at least willing to go in the Corps. She has had quite a few disappointments. I would think that would not happen in GOD's ministry. I hope she figures it out. It's sad to see her not getting her heart's desire. She missed out on a really good guy before she went in residence. He told her flat out he wasn't going in the Corps. It froze a really good relationship. But she chose her priorities. It's too bad it really isn't about serving God. It's about a ministry. -

Soooo true! I wanted to bolt out the door! That's the only thought that was in my head at the time. I've never felt that way since. Weird. Now SIT doesn't mean anything to me. I prefer praying with my understanting. I agree wholeheartedly. -
I agree, but I don't want to assume.

Ex, Are you saying two women in general you saw pulled over the side of the road, or are you saying that you saw Rosie being cozy with a woman on the side of the road?
-
Sorry about your dilemma Ex70s. That does suck that your employee cost you that much. It also sucks they cheat on their time. That is just plain wrong. Can I come work for you? I'd like to telecommute though. I don't want to live in Texas again.

Kevlar, Thanks for the advice. However, my supervisor is the department head. I work directly under the county assessor. He's so busy being political that he has no idea of the stuff going on in his office. He barely has time to go over travel arrangements with me. I have to force his plans out of him so I can do it appropriately. Yes, we acccumulate a lot of PTO (personal time off). Yes it is abused A LOT! Yes they are required to get their supervisor's OK to take it off. Most of the spinless supervisors complain about deadlines not being met and the time their people take off, yet they never say "no". Please don't accept this as a broad statement. I am just venting about my office. The 13 year veteran is a situation I have to take care of myself. I have to get nasty and put her in her place so that she doesn't take advantage of me. She believes the new people should start at the bottom and work their way up. It grates on her that I came in fresh and have a higher position than her. That's the way it will be. However, mr. assessor does know how she is and has not allowed her to be in a position to move up. It's all a vicious circle.

I work in County government, and I have to say it is true that they are the laziest people who walk around with the hands out waiting to get more. I work in an office of 57 people. I work in the administrative area of a department, and I keep track of PTO time used and anything related to Human Resources aspects of our department. Most have been there 10+ years, and they have less PTO time on the books than I do. I've worked there for 1 1/2 years. By the way, we do get 5.25 weeks of PTO time to start. After 1 year, it goes up to 6 weeks, and up again after 5 and 10 years. We have people who have taken over 30 days off in the past year. The management has no accountability for the time people take off. They just think evil instead of enforcing the policies already in tact. There's no write-ups or any privileges taken away for using too much time. We are told by HR that we are given the time to save for a rainy day. For example, we have had several who have had to utilize FMLA (which allows a person to take 12 weeks off for family or personal emergencies but does not pay them) for family injuries. There are several who were in these situaitons who had this happen didn't have enough PTO on the books to keep their paychecks coming during the family crisis. They have to pay for benefits and have no paycheck and complain. Yet when they want to take off a week every other month and call in sick at least 4 times a month, they can't understand why they get "screwed" when they have a family emergency. Then there are those who believe that working for the county for 13 years gives them privileges that us newbies shouldn't have. They fail to remember the newbie got a higher position because of their experience and abilities, which the 13 year veteran doesn't have. They try to shove their work off on the newbie and when the newbie brings it to their attention, they are called "lazy." The 13 year veteran was the one who wanted to sit on her big fat arse and make the newbie do her work. I just don't get it. What the hell is going on with this picture??? It's so frustrating. My dad taught me to do my work. I do it. I get my job done. I don't push my job off on other people. We all have a job which needs to get done, and each person doing their part is what accomplishes TEAMWORK (which most county workers have no idea what that is). Why do some think they are above that if they put in so many years? I thought it was the work you do, not the time you put in that means something. Let them have the lazy 13 year veteran. The newbie will move on to bigger and better things while the 13 year veteran still complains they don't make enough money........
