Belle, Come and visit me in Arizona. I live in the high country of Arizona. The stars are plenty, and here is the first place I ever saw the Milky Way.

This is a rather ironic thread because when I was on staff, he said he wouldn't think evil of people he saw out and about during the work day. I think this came from him trying to justify his playing golf in the afternoons. He told us he got up at 5:00 a.m. to start studying (thus his day started early), and he played golf in the afternoon. I'm sure he stopped to talk to his family later in the morning before they went to school, etc. Is that part of his work day? Not for anyone else it isn't. But he was the MOG, so he could do whatever he wanted and then call it holy and blessed by God.

Hubby got 86.1%, but I expected at least that from him since he spends most nights recording music.

E* H*rn*y looks like the bad @$$ Master Chief who was out to get Demi Moore's character in "GI Jane". E* HATES it when people mention that to him. Maybe because that character brings home so many qualities he had a a Nazi Corps Coordinator? A guy I dated while on staff said he got hit (yes, literally wacked) by E* because he fell asleep at his desk during a study time while he was in residence.

They actually used the Food Pyramid in the dining room once to show the staffers what they should be eating. It is kind of stupid because when I was there, you only ate what they gave you unless you talked them in to giving you money to purchase food. I couldn't do that. I started buying my own Cheerios to eat in my room to save money and had to stop because I couldn't afford it.

Most of the Way Magazine articles done by LCM were just rehashed STS teachings or teaching from Corps Night. I worked in Word Processing, and I remember being very disappointed about all of that. It appeared that the MOG almost didn't have anything to do with writing of Way Mag articles. They just took his spewings and wrote them up, he approved them. All of us peons out in the field believed the MOG had a great job of teaching, writing articles, and doing things of Gawd...... Word Processing had people who used dictaphones to type up those teachings and then President's Publications (YES, he had his own publication Department separate from Way Publication ) would mark it up for editing. We would get back the edited copy and would do several go arounds until they got an actual article that was usable. I wonder if they did the same thing to produce pothumously-written books?

When I was at HQ, we were never told who to vote for, but LCM used to talk about political candidates a lot around election time. I thought he did this to help sway us. Ironically, we had a few local political candidates come to speak at HQ during lunch time. They invited both parties to speak.

Weird. I got 77.8% as well.

When I was on Staff, one of my responsibilities was to make sure the collection of books in the Trustee conference room were the latest and greatest. One day I was thumbing through How to Enjoy the Bible. I never bought it or read it. It was weird to read because it was worded just like the PFAL class and other books VPW wrote. It struck me as odd, but I was still a good little koolaide drinker. It seems odd that TWI marketed those books. Did VP think anyone would catch on? Or did he promote that he received the same revelation these great theologians and men did??

ROFL!!! Sprawled, you are too funny. Your dancing avatar makes your little jingle even more funny!

Not if you are a narcisstic MOG and think the sun rises and sets on your own arse. Yes, Exxie, they wrote songs for his birthday ABOUT HIM!! I am not sheeting you. You know most of those who stayed after the POOP was read were Martinfart worshippers. Craig Martindale was TWIs pope.

When I was on Staff from 1996 to 2001 our dental, medical, vision, and prescriptions were paid 100% by reimbursement from TWI. You had to get approval from them for anything over the normal doctor visit. They told us to tell the health community that we didn't have insurance so they would charge us less money. We were told by TWI that in no circumstances were we to ever tell the health community we received reimbursement from TWI. I think TWI could do this because it was a write-off for them at tax time. Or maybe they were self-insured. I don't know that part for sure. Shortly after we had to take a mandatory 10% cut in pay (which was a need basis, remember???), they changed the benefits to 80% reimbursement. We took a 10% cut in pay on a need basis salary and was expected to cough up 20% of all of our medical, dental, and vision needs. For those who had medication they took on a regular basis or those who required more doctor visits, it turned in to a problem. But we didn't dare go to TWI asking for more money because we feared we would be made an example at lunch time. It was around January 2001 that they started the 401K program. You had to work for twi for something like 7 or 8 years in order to be vested. And you had to figure out how to cough up some extra money to participate in the 401K program in the first place. TWI leadership really thought that one through. I heard at the ACS in 2002 that they started paying the staff "regular" salaries. What does that mean? They make $10 an hour? Probably less. But they charge the staff for rent and food now too. Before, the rent and food benefits which appeared to be free were added to your W2 form as benefits.

Skyrider, I remember LCM's birthdays while I was on Staff. He got quite the hoopla while the rest of us peons had to put on our own birthday party. That's TWI leadership living by example again.... Way Productions used to do songs and skits at lunch time to exalt the mighty forehead. Two particular songs I remember only parts. One went: Reverend L Craig Martindale He's a quintsessential male By the way, quintessential is defined as representing the perfect example of a class or quality. The other song was done to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance: L Craig Martindale The president of The Way L Craig Martindale Felize Cumplianos Today They would overexaggerate his qualities and really make him feel like a man. Birthdays for the Trustee household was a prime example of how leadership is treated better than the regular Joe Believer. They got to pick out a cake they would like for their birthday, and Food Services made it for them. The cake would be brought out for everyone to see and ooohhh and ahhh over. And then we never got any. Birthdays at TWI HQ for me were hard. I HATED that I had to plan my own birthday party and treat my whole department to treats I made myself. That whole BS about giving on your birthday WASN'T OUR FRIKKIN' CULTURE!!!!! The only nice thing is if you had enough friends, they would decorate your door in Founders Hall and leave you gifts. If you didn't have friends, then you just had another day of work and living abundantly at Der Veg. Woo Hoo!!! Happy Birthday Craig.

He would run around the auditorium in that red silk robe over his clothing on Sundays before the service after he got his hair and makeup done. The makeup girl bought it for him..

I saw the guy on Oprah. He seems like a really good guy. However, hugging a stranger is kind of freaky to me because it does remind me of TWI days. I HATED it when guys hugged so tightly that your boobs smashed in to their chest........Not everybody was having fun..... :(

I LOVE LOVE LOVE animals!!!! I keep trying to talk my dog in to letting me have another and another and another and another. He won't have it, and I need a bigger place to have them all!!! Some day I will, and I will have a dog rescue too.

I think how PDL is presented is determined by WHO is presenting it. I don't know much about Rick Warren except that he's a pastor at a church in southern California who wrote a book. I probably won't ever now much about him because I don't care and refuse to put a man on a pedestal. I do think his book has done good things for churches based on how they apply them. Unfortunately, there are lunatics in every group. The whole reproof thing one person pulled out from WG's post is an example. I studied the book twice at different churches. I never had any experiences like that. It was Church 101. I think it proposed some ideas to churches which were good. What people do with that is up to them. Hopefully they won't turn it around and hurt people. The two group I discussed this book in were not zealous about Rick Warren or the book. It was just something to do which would give us some ideas on how to enrich our church life. We didn't agree 100% with everything in the book either. That was refreshing.

I don't do blue book songs much anymore. Here's one of my favorties to sing at church: My Jesus, My Savior, Lord there is none like you! All of my days, I long to praise, the wonders of your mighty love My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength, Let every breath, all that I am, never cease to worship you! Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing! Power and majesty praise to the King! Mountains bow down, and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name! I sing for Joy at the works of Your hands. Forever I’ll love you forever I’ll stand Nothing compares to the promise I have in you! It is truly a heart-felt song to sing. It does way more for me than reminding to "Stand on the Promises of God". :)

I never knew porn to be off limits in TWI. People didn't broadcast they had it, but I know of some ordained types in twi to show porn to sons and/or nephews to masturbate to. Little did the idiots know that it doesn't teach them how to have a REAL relationship with a woman.

Roy, It sounds like Jim sufferes from severe way brain. It's just like a wayfer to correct you for not being "TWI correct". He obviously doesn't understand you if he thinks you are being "holier than thou". You are far from that description IMHO. Love, T

Dot, My experience has been that sometimes you do need to look for a few before you find one that fits you. My church in San Diego is still on a pedestal because it was the place I went and helped me to overcome my grief from leaving twi. It was a real down to earth and not religious jargon kind of church where there were real people who weren't putting on facades to look like good christians. I went to a small group for women where they talked about real problems in life. It wasn't about "We love Jesus so much...Just love Jesus and all your problems will go away." It was real people and great fellowship. Maybe if you could find a church you like for the worship service and fellowship and then get your teaching from Joyce Meyer, that would help until you get over being tired of looking. I'm praying for you sweet lady. PS: Joyce Meyer's prayer reqeusts you can access online helped me find a church. They put me in touch with a guy who recommends churches all over the country.

Very Interesting (current Way leader publishes a book)
Nottawayfer replied to Gillian Rules's topic in About The Way
I'm sure they were nice people at once time. I saw them come and go quite a bit when I was at HQ. I sat at the lunch table with them more than once and saw them in action while they were there. They seemed so doctrinated in living and being examples of the "ultimate believers" twi promoted. It wasn't real IMHO. They seemed a little cold and not always happy. It was almost like they were always in "judgment mode" to see how Fd up people were. Maybe that's from being WC coordinators. This is just my observation and my own vibes I got around them. PS: I always thought it was interesting that LCM used to lift Jacque up on a pedastal with her abilities in hunting and outdoor stuff. It was almost like she was more man than he was. He made a point one time to say he was having sinus problems while at Gunnison and had Jacque woke up so she could give him something he didn't have. Now why didn't he prepare for that? He said he ALWAYS had sinus problems up there. Waking someone up in the middle of the night for something you should have brought yourself seems pretty effen rude IMHO. If someone had done that to him, there would have been hell to pay. Did he realize what a hypocrite he sounded like when he told us that in the dining room one day??? Of course, we are talking about one of the biggest idiots of all time.
