Thou hast FULLY known my doctrine and manner of life
polar bear replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
I have said in another thread that VP was a putting on a "show". I wish the so called "VP defenders" could have seen him like I did when he wasn't in front of a crowd. He was a real jerk. He really didn't care about anyone except himself. I know he didn't take care of his wife. He always had to look good. I sure didn't stay around because of him. -
Rascal-"no one is there to kick me when I'm down"-That's right They were always there to do that. Then they would tell you where you went wrong and how you messed up and how you have to get your'e thinking straight and on and on. Makes me more happy I got out of that "nut house".

Dot-My wife recently read some books by Helen Keller. She definately portrays the joy of life in here writings. Rascal-that book sounds great. I'll have to get that one. Love reading anything inspiring. The Subtle Power of Spritual Abuse-A must read for all here. My copy is on loan so I don't have the authors name on hand. You the Owners Manual-Dr Mehmet Oz. (this guy if definately a believer and tells you how to love your body) Love Medicine and Miracles-Bernie S Siegel (believes that attitude is the difference in healing processes) Toxic Faith-Stephan Arterburn-(any form of control in religion is hurtful) When bad Crhistians happen to good people-Brad Burchett (exactly what it says) Don't Sweat the Small Stuff-Richard Carlson (Great practical advice for everyday living. A Short History of just about Everything-Bill Bryson (Tells you how beautfully balanced our world is.)

You're not the only one Hammy- I had so many notes on Ephesians it took two files folders to hold them. So recently I got tired of all the baggage I was carrying around and got the nerve to through them out.

To put it bluntly, my life inside twi got worse and worse as time went on. I felt like the life and joy I once had was being sucked out of me. Yet I was afraid to leave due to the fear of being out of the household that was instilled into my thinking. Yet sound thinking prevailed when I realized that my life was being gradually pulled down. So I left. Since then have felt better and better. The joy and enthusiasm for life is starting to return. This shouldn't be the case since I left the household and the ministry that taught the "so called" truth. But I now free from the burden of oppression and law that twi seemed to go deeper and deeper into. Thanks to all here who have helped me be free from the heavy burden twi laid on my life. I want to know do others here think their joy and peace in life has been better since leaving twi?

Your'e such a Ham- Hope everyone reads the fine print.

Yea Sky- You hit the nail right on the head there. VP was all about "the show". He said he would never resort to raising money like churches do, bingos, socials, etc. No he just demanded the tithe which he had no right to do. Then he taught we are under grace (but the tithe was an exeption). Why, he didn't want to waste his time helping people or doing anything for people. I now think the holdong socials to raise money (ie. doing something for their people) is not a bad idea at all. Hey don't other organizations do this. It's called a fundraiser. VP taught the tithe was an immutable law like gravity. Where in the world did he get this Nowhere in the word. But then he says everything I teach is backed up by the Word. Remember the Word and nothing but the Word. Bunk VP put on the great show of the century, then spent the rest of his time womanizing. Yea Sky what about the adultry thing. Was that an immutable law too that the mog could have any woman, even if she was married. The guy should have been put in jail.

Another great one Skyrider= There was so much mind control. Like you are in the household of Zion and you can't leave the fortress or the adversary will rack and ruin your life and all that crap. What a bunch of bunk, but we were drawn slowly into it. The excitement the hype, then you made friends and didn't want to lose your friends. What's funny is no matter how much you know, it's still hard to talk someone out of twi. In fact others tried to talk me out. I wouldn't let them. I thought I was being a good "trooper". How dare you attack my beliefs. They are pretty good at the control stuff. When it all comes down to it though you have to figure it our for yourself. WHen you see your life is going down the tubes that crap they were feeding us doesn't make sense. Then the light comes on maybe they aren't what they say they are. Maybe? Hell no they aren't what they say they are. Thanks to all those who have helped us see what a bunch of twits they are. Nothing but a shallow, power hungry ego ecentric, money mongers if you ask me. Wolves in sheeps clothing.

Back to our reguarly scheduled program. Kathy-what a heart you have. Thanks for sharing the way you do. "We're not worthy."

Year2007- You'd be better off to go buy a book.
-
This isn't just anther Dear John letter- Way to go. I just bought a couple of fly rods. I'll have to come up there sometime and get some lessons, on the "fly".
-
Yep Johhny we're in Canada "eh". We bought a floating home on a lake. Nothing like being on the water.

Great topic. I agree there is a difference between dwelling and reflecting on the past. Paul in Phil 3 was referring to his ability to not be hindered by his wretched past. He never said he didn't think about it.I like what someone said about our memory-if God didn't want us to remember the past we wouldn't have one. I think the big thing we were conned into thinking by twi was to forget everything in the past as a blanket statement for getting out of taking responsibility for our actions. It was an easy way out. Just renew your mind and forget about it. Rather than thinking through situations and figuring out an honest way to work out an answere to a problem. God good , we may have realized that we were in a cult and our leadership could be wrong at times.

Spiritual Abuse and Taking the Lord's Name in Vain
polar bear replied to another spot's topic in About The Way
Great thread-you it the Spot. Wow I've been battling for so long in my mind with thinking about the many good things twi taught. Nothing wrong with the Word, but how it is upheld. What I see is the motive was wrong. VP was a hustler. You can see it clear as a bell now when you put these things together. Where was the fruit. The fruit coming from HQ was rotten, full of envy, biterness, hate. It eventually went down the tree and affected the good hearted ones. I too was railroaded by twi for trying to speak up and do good. The apple truly doesn't fall far the the tree and all that rot. And that tree was rotten. Remember Jesus cursing the fig tree. He used it in reference to the stench of the religion of that day. It was dead. Loved the "holding the truth in unrighteousness" bit. It really makes sense. -
We sold our house today. It was a record price for our neighbourhood. Now we have bought one half as big since our chitlin's have moved out. And the best part-no mlore mortage. No debt, eat your hearts out twits. Thanks to all who have prayed for us.

If you have problems doing it yourself, there are folks out there who can do it for you. Look in yellow pages for audio/video transfer.

Dear Free-Perhaps finding someone with common interests would be more benificial to you.

Yep it's not just him it's the system. He should be kicked out of the league. What a great example for upcoming kids wanting to get into baseball. Standards have gone in the toilet I guess. How can he be compared to those great ball players who did it with no help from drugs.

Catcup-Thanks for helping us all to understand what rape victims go through. You are amazing. I don't care what credentials anyone has, you took the time and love to help. It really hurts me still to see that it happened to wonderful believers who put their trust in certain twi leadership who took advantage of their position. May they get what they deserve. (And most of them have). To any of you who were in situations like this, you are loved here and are always welcome to share your hearts. It's never too late. If there are some who find it too hard to talk about, we understand. You are still loved. Hopefully it will happen one day.
