  1. ...as has been mentioned before $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ...unless you were a complete wacko ...but then, I guess that got you "in" sometimes as well!
  2. or something along the lines of "I regret this... I've always done what my CPA has advised.... there was never any intent..." ...but coming from him I'd tend to believe it...
  3. Now that's an area where we rely upon you Senor Bump!
  4. Master P has it right... good suggestions for peace of mind... or to get the H out! I would only add that sometimes it depends upon what day you arrive... if you're staying at a 'business' hotel in a city that's a 'destination city' then they sometimes let things slip because there's a quick turnaround on almost all of the rooms. What I mean is you have almost all of the rooms checking out on Friday morning and then they're all sold for Friday night and there's just not enough time (usually) to clean them properly. Times like that are more likely to cause the staff to cut corners to get the folks out of the lobby and into a room. Same thing with destination resorts... most have packages that run the same days so unless they stagger their packages, you have a full house checking out and a full house checking in on the same day...
  5. It's true, they do owe taxes in all of those states.. but usually they can get a reciprocal credit similar to the credit you get on federal taxes for the state taxes you pay (or something like that, I live in Tx where there's no state tax)... additionally there are CITY income taxes (Philadelphia comes to mind, Chicago too I think)... I remember a big to-do a few years ago where the city of Phil wanted the teams to pay the taxes before they left the city... so I suppose it can get messy... Florida has no state income tax either...
  6. ...isn't it called "O Brother Where Art Thou" ???
  7. You guys put some lady's fingers in the dessert?
  8. my brother from the sock drawere, manly love hug back... I think we're talking about two different things. I agree with your assessment of the movie (personally, I liked "The Abominable Dr Fibes" much better)... What I'm talking about is how that movie, and it's PR machine, showed that there was a huge interest in all of this "possession stuff" and my question is, what I wonder is, could it possibly be that TWI, because veepee saw so much public interest in "pozzezzhun", also maybe seen that as another 'hook' to get folks into (and keep them in) TWI? The way it sounds, there were DS around every corner... and of course, we know what people were labled whenever they "got sent home" , etc. know whut ahm sain?
  9. I thought the title I saw said "cold case" so anyway, you win!
  10. well... this is where we talk all things baseball... but we could ignore the obvious (Barry Bonds is a liar and a cheat) and go on... As to the steroids? A local TV sports guy went off just the other night (as the story of a local trainer with alleged ties to Cowboys and Falcons was trying to get a plea bargain) on the steroid issue. His take: In a perfect world, why not just offer everyone amnesty, have them all 'come clean' and then set horrendous penalties for any future use? That's his perfect world. The way I would answer your question? I think they (or something akin to them at the time) have always been in sports. Sadly, it's the nature of the beast. Hopefully, those that are using them will stick out like a sore thumb and get caught.
  11. but socks... given all of that... don't you think that movie "put it out there" brought it into the 'public's conscience' as it were? and I was just wondering if (what became) all of the focus on DS in TWI might have somehow been another one of veepee's 'marketing ploys'...
  12. but that's not cake! (is it?) isn't that like flan or something?
  13. I can see it now!!! Dr Sudo, cruising down the two lane blacktop going from Memphis to Oxford... gospel music blaring, windows down, car swerving slightly as he steers with his knees, singing at the top of his lungs, clapping his hands and swaying back and forth like Ray Charles... ...and that's prior to partaking of shine.
  14. ...there was cake? dangit! ...I always miss the desserts!
  15. to you folks? I'd tell you that if you must have a glass, ask at check in what type are in the room. If they're not the plastic wrapped and sealed kind, I'd stop by the restaurant and ask for however many you need... but watch them closely as they may put their fingers in them... which brings me to a fast food joint sidetrack: I know that I'm risking them doing something to my food, but when they give you the paper cup so that you can serve yourself your soda, I've noticed more and more of the cashiers put their fingers in the cup when handing it to me... I just nicely ask "can I please have one that your fingers haven't been in?"
  16. yes... although I thought it was "sunday"... either way is fine with me... you still get to go!
  17. I'm guessing that would be me (over 25 years in the business, consult for a living)... and I said (early in the thread): ...and that has been proven out by part 2 as you can see These things aren't taught, and they all have high temp dishwashers to take care of this, but the room attendants just want to get through their rooms (most are either paid by the room or an hourly wage plus a bonus for how many rooms they do). The room inspectors can't tell whether or not the glasses were replaced with washed ones, that's why the room attendants just try to make them 'look' clean. The housekeeping managers are in their office working the computers trying to turn over rooms so the front desk can sell them. I'm thinking it's a "sweeps week" thing Geo... that's usually when the "hottest" investigative reports air...
  18. that's interesting... Cingular should use that in their ads... Ghosts in the Machine...
  19. ...and yet people think we were in some sort of "special" club...
  20. Gosh, so many ways to take this... my comments in bold... just my opinion
  21. I didn't... but wouldn't doubt it... I've never really liked the taste of any rum but Meyer's... I can tolerate Capt Morgan's, but I can drink Meyer's all night (day?) long... (but for some reason it tastes better with Pepsi, not Coke) Then we'll just have to have another one! Are you gonna let us pull your string?
