Maybe I took this wrong... but that's like judging all Christians based on the actions of Pat Robertson or George Bush... It's has the most 'followers' of any religion in the world doesn't it? There are far more 'peaceful' Muslims in this world than there are terrorists. Why don't they speak out more (because some do speak out)? I don't know... maybe they fear for their lives as well...

This is 'Dixie Chick': We found her on Petfinder.com one day. She's 5 years old and 90 pounds. She was being retired after three litters. She was just given to us... and she's so full of love and sweetness... and (unfortunately) gas! I've always been more partial to dogs... but also have a 100 gallon aquarium that I stare at occasionally.

This from the email report I get each day from Newberg.

You're always "top of the page" with us chattingKathy! That song is not familiar to me at all... I stuck with it though to try to decipher the lyrics... is it 'Baywatch'?

Oldies... I heard those words out of LCMs mouth many times... sad, but true...

Yes W.D.... serve a lifetime... but I never took that to mean 'serve TWI'... when I thought they were 'of God' it made sense to serve with them, when I discovered otherwise, I left TWI... I thought this thread was "what did you take it to mean?"... not argue with everyone about what they thought it meant... it meant different things to different people. For cripes sake people, quit trying to tell "us" what you think it meant to us and quit arguing with what folks share that it meant. Arguing about verbiage in a freaking brochure... who in the heck cares? Why do you want to argue about it? To prove someone wrong? To prove yourself right? What's the freaking point. Very "Way" of you... but not Christlike. And Pond/mj... never mind... I don't know which of you will post next...

dangit CK... you're "waybrain" is so pathetic it's almost funny... ...so, you figure that you know it all at your tender young age?
-
Pond/MJ: I don't want or need your pity... nor do others, I think... ...but once again you've proven you have no clue what you're talking about... just by comparing it to your experience in a "secular job"... yet you presume to make judgements about people's hearts and minds regarding this...

Exploring iPods & all the accessories....
Tom Strange replied to ChasUFarley's topic in Computer Questions

You're allowed to be grouchy on this board (and other places as well). My post was regarding 'the rest of the thread' and the things I was feeling about hopper's original question. (well, up to last night anyway because I haven't read the posts since then except yours immediately preceeding mine, I got tired of reading about the brochure). And that really sucks about the phd fellowship... but I certainly understand it... believe me I do... My post says how I felt about the commitment... but I also feel like I wasted a lot of valuable "life and time" that is gone and done with... and I'd be lying if I told you that I never wished I could have a "do over" from about age 18 on... but not because of being commited to helping others...

Dot... you've been visiting those conspiracy sites again haven't you? <_<

I haven't read the last page of so... but what's the big deal? (not referring to the post immediately preceding this one) Wasn't the question "what did you think it meant? I assumed this was directed at corps folks... and then it went into breaking down the semantics of the brochure... I don't understand... My answer is that I never paid much attention to "the brochure" it didn't matter to me... to me it was 'above' that... now I was aware that it was a "lifetime commitment" that wasn't a big deal. I always figured it was a commitment to a way of life... service. I still do that, I'm just not part of any "ministry"...
-
Maybe I've taken this wrong but.. I'm usually "one of the wise guys" but what I posted I posted in seriousness... I try to help folks when I can... I thought that's what you wanted to know. I don't like the term "minister" and it's derivatives, it was too objectified in TWI IMO (if that's the right term). I do what I've done all my life...before, during and after TWI... v. min·is·tered, min·is·ter·ing, min·is·ters v. intr. To attend to the wants and needs of others: I've always thought of it as a verb not a title.

I've never had any troubles at all with DirectTV. I've had it now for about four years. But I don't know that one is any better than the other. I think if you live in a metropolitan area you could find very good deals on either, I know around here they offer great startup deals. Sometimes the signal goes out during a big storm because of the thick clouds. If you're in a snow area, you've got to keep the dish clear of snow. Personally, I think it's a far better service than cable, but if either of those things bother you, you might prefer cable. Like Wayfernot said, AT&T has a big package deal if you want it and they're pushing it pretty hard since the un-breakup makeup that's putting all of the baby bells back together... DirectTV is owned by Rupert Murdoch so it isn't going anywhere either. They have all of the sports "tickets" if you like sports. I've never experienced any customer service issues. A couple of years ago it was harder to get through but it seemed quicker when I had to call them about a month ago. (that might be a point, I've only had to call them twice in four years). Both times I got what I felt was excellent treatment and good support/advice. My problem wasn't solved by the first person I talked to so I asked to speak to someone else. They solved the problem. Anyway, I've been very happy with DirectTV and it has the lion's share of the market around here (DFW).
