yeah... it was taught... but remember, it was also another way that they (TWI) tried to 'program' us not to give any credence to things that they were doing that were in fact wrong... kind of along the lines of "think no evil" (of leaders especially)... It's another good concept taken to an extreme to condition the person to ignore "red flags"... IMO

WW, that's from one of the best (IMO) movies ever made... but I'll give someone else a chance to answer... (of course, I think "Stripes" was highly under rated as well)

yeah... and we're off to Anaheim... Padilla is the only starter to win so far... and Nevin's talking about how it'll be good to get on the road so the team can "bond"... aye chihuahua!

I don't know if this is the point you were making or not Shellon... and I fear opening a huge a$$ can of worms here... but it sure did SEEM LIKE a lot of the immigrants from the north had a "union mentality"... we were all used to an honest day's work for an honest day's pay (since the cost of living was generally way lower here)... but the immigrants from the north wanted more pay for less work and generally felt that they were "owed" something that they didn't feel they had to work for... ...and yes, I know that's a generalization... but it was the majority... they were nice people though generally... just had a different idea about work...

how sweet... ckmkeon's and johniam's opinions agree! ...that's all that really matters to you isn't it ckmkeon? that someone agrees with you...?

I won't deny that... and TL... about the "that's not the way we did it back in Texas"... you can insert any state or country into that sentence... it's applicable to everyone, not just Texans... I remember, beginning back in the late 70's and early 80's it was particularly bad down here because all of the Yankees were immigrating (mostly from Michigan it seemed) and all we ever heard was "that's not the way we do it in Michigan"...

that's the opening song on 'the Sopranos' isn't it...

which "word"? ...we'll help you look for it if you tell us...

we're not rebels... we're Texans... :)

johniam, did you really mean to say that? PFAL did it? not God? or The Bible? but PFAL? If that's really what you meant... you need to go hang out with Mike.

Okay... how about this one: Now, are either of you homosexuals? You mean like flaming? Or part time? Well, it's a question we have to ask of all our new recruits. No, we're not homosexual, but we are willing to learn.

PFAL: An Unorthodox Translation
Tom Strange replied to Tom Strange's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Temple Lady talking about being told "the Bible is hard to understand" struck something in me... I'm gonna come clean here and tell you guys some things that I've never told anyone here before... come to think of it, I haven't ever told anyone this stuff before... I haven't read the whole Bible (any version/translation). Of course I've read many parts of it... and I really did understand it... well, except for the Revelation stuff which I admit that I haven't read much of... Prior to my taking PFAL, I read the entire New Testament (except for Revelation)... and you know what? I understood what it was saying. I read the books in order because that just seemed like the easiest thing to do. When I read the name of a city or an area I'd look in the back at the little maps they had so I could tell where they were talking about. I found that when I read entire books of the Bible from beginning to end, they were easier to understand. I remember back to when I was a kid reading the Bible. When I just read the way I have described it- like a regular book, in order from the beginning of that book to the end- it usually made sense (again, except for Revelation). The only times I think I've gotten confused about the Bible was in Church when people would pull verses from here and there, in whatever order suited whatever message they wanted to get across to me. The Bible didn't confuse me, religion did. In my opinion, PFAL didn't so much teach me how to read and understand the Bible, it taught me that what the other religions were teaching me was wrong and that what veepee (and TWI) were teaching me was right. Except of course for Revelation. Maybe someday I'll get around to reading it, but I doubt it. But reading the Gospels and Acts (and the rest of the new testament) like they were "regular old books" with stories was pretty easy. They made perfect sense to me. So my conclusion is, at least for me, that the Bible isn't hard to understand and never has been. The religion associated with it most of the time always has been hard for me to understand (including TWI). PFAL (again JMO) was a class presented under the guise of "unlocking the Bible" but really was just a way to indoctrinate us into TWI and away from the other religions. Thanks Temple Lady for reminding me... I'll now go back to being my 'usual' self... -
well... I suppose I'm not the first guy to say it but... "she can give me a workout anytime she wants!" ...FWIW... I was duly impressed with Papelbon during their series here... let's see if he can do it a little longer before we put him in Cooperstown though... but he does have a good start and he seems to be carrying a big old can of heat...

Once again ckmckeon pond (mj) has also shown you that being older doesn't necessarily guarantee you a better grip on reality... Your age does make some difference in that (as others have pointed out time and again) you weren't around to experience all of these things, you haven't been around long enough to have weathered some of the storms that we have (and hopefully you won't have to)... that and the fact that you come in here posting that you're only 19, have never met veepee and didn't know him, but you think he was the greatest thing since sliced bread... Think about your relationship with your parents for a moment... you trust their judgement on things unknown to you don't you? Why? Because they've been around longer and have the luxury of experience to draw on... But it has nothing to do with PFAL and doing it or not doing it... it has to do with a man who set himself up as THE man of God and proceeded to use that position to rape and steal... and then taught others to do likewise...

PFAL: An Unorthodox Translation

Mike, you just spent your last two three posts explaining why PFAL is far superior to The Bible. Good job dude... I'm sure that even as we speak God is clearing out that seat at His right hand to make space for YOU! Well of course he did Mike... he's just following YOUr lead. -
c'mon Rick! ...it was in "Sing Along the Way" wasn't it? Handpicked by Dorothy and Rhoda...

Here's a pic for you TL... I don't know if this is the kind that ex10 has... and I don't know if you have them way up there... There might be some buried under the snow... check after it melts... if it melts!

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack And you may find yourself in another part of the world And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here? But I don't want to answer yet... I'll give someone else a chance...

ummm... I don't know ckmkeon.... your shallowness continues to amaze me... Would you want it to be kept a secret "IF" he had sexually abused YOUR sister / mother / friend / wife??? Would you be so quick to forgive? ...if you were able to forgive would you be able to forget? Things are posted about veepee, LCM, TWI, etc partially because there may be folks still out there living their lives in guilt because of the sexual and spiritual abuse heaped upon them by these men and their "ministry". Folks who find healing and hope when they find out that they are not alone. Folks who get angry when they find out what happened to them was not the exception but the norm. Now... as to the second part of your post... people come here for different reasons... and those that come here for help (many, many different kinds of help) usually find it... sometimes they don't and they leave... but far more often than not they find it. THE MESSAGE COMING THROUGH FROM YOUR POSTS IS THAT YOU HAVE NOT COME HERE FOR 'HELP'... OR HAVE YOU? (subconsciously) Even though you pretty much disagree with everything we say... even though you continue to close your eyes and ears to the cold hard facts... YOU STILL CONTINUE TO COME HERE... Personally I think you just like to come around to poke and prod and throw stones... but that's JMO...

OK then... here's one that 400 people can get in with just one line: (or at least you guys can I'm sure) We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
