Congratulations Steve!... YOU win! (I was only asking a question)
-
I also loved that they played the music from "The Natural" while he was batting... he is Roy Hobbs... and I don't know if you guys caught it or not (we are kind of lucky in that we get saturated with him here) but after his FIRST home run he turned to the catcher and said "this is awesome"... Here's what Gammons wrote on ESPN: Here's what it was like to be in the crowd Monday night... complete with the "Holy Sh1t" chant...

they are funny commercials... and that big dude is from Fort Worth... he was also the football player in those Dr Pepper commercials where the guy does a strange 'end zone dance' with a DP...
-
I don't know myseestorEx... I was a cop out by then! ...and now we're all cop outs!

It was a very good game... IMO. Of course I was happy to see my boys contribute... Michael Young got the game winning RBI. Michael Young got the game winning RBI. (just thought I'd say it twice since he got it twice!) Dang umps! ...but I know that both of those calls (at the plate and on Kinsler's steal) usually go the way they called them... J.D. was the only one that I could think of to get the MVP. It was such a team effort on both sides but he had some critical at bats and came through. A nice "exhibition" wasn't it?
-
...and he won't, at least not directly. It's just a game he plays... that's the way he is... living somewhere near that great river in Egypt...

most excellent moose! recently (well, in the last year) bought a concert DVD of him/her back in the day...

is there a movie that has the same name as a song by Frankie Valee and the Four Seasons?

This information about WD has been out there for a while... on this website... so he probably won't answer directly, he'll probably just tell you to search it out... but he spent all of his time in wahcheetah kanzaz...
-
Here's what WD cited in post #372 on the Boot the WW Apologists thread:
-
b-b-b-but Raf!!! WD says it IS so... that you can get in trouble for calling someone who is dead a sociopathic serial rapist who used The Bible and a worthless doctorate to ravage his way through folks who innocently wanted to serve God...

too bad he couldn't take home the trophy... but I think that everyone knows who "won" last night... well, besides us who got to watch it happen... oh to have been there... it was pretty neat, you can't help but like the guy who brings his old coach from American Legion (like he promised him when he was a kid)... hiway, from all of those overhead shots the new Yankee Stadium looks alot like the old one... what's the difference? a few more seats and a lot more luxury boxes?
-
I don't know what his status is hiway... I just think he looks like an Ortiz starter kit! He was a September call up in 2004... he's gotta be getting close unless he's signed an extension... but I don't know.

I had mentioned this the other day... Tex is a Boras client... but it seems to even go beyond that... ...the other reason for the turn around, the feeling in 'the room' seems to be Ron Washington, all of the guys really like him... my gawd, look at Milton Bradley here this year, he is nothing like what was advertised... he was even on TV talking about (in tears) how Washington came to him personally to tell him he'd made the AS team and gave him a hug as well... MB said that he'd never had any 'father-son moments' in his entire life but that must be how one would feel... heck, I got misty just watching it... No one, fans or players, wants them to 'deal' MB in the next couple of weeks... If I was boston I'd try to go after that kid from Philly... Ryan is his name isn't it? He looks like an Ortiz starter kit anyway!

Manipulation is not just a river in Egypt... I'm just sayin'... I'd really be interested in what "Pappa Gee" has to say about all of this!
-
Raf... from what I've heard I wouldn't take the chance with chantix. Locally a well known guy here started taking it and ended up dead... You know that I used hipnosis (or is it hypnosis?)... well, it worked and it wasn't the devil spirit filled thing that I was always taught... just a little 'thought reinforcement'... now, you know that I enjoy the dominican cigars (memories of the flying saucer right now)... and that could be a suggestion, but unless your lovely lady partakes with you as well you're probably going to hear "you smell like a cigar" or "you taste like a cigar" when she kisses you... (but there's always the chance that she likes the smell and taste of cigars!) good luck my brother... it's a hard habit to kick...

Sorry for posting this "Newburg Report" but it kind of embodies the joy that we've found in a team that loves to play together... I know it sounds goofy but the guys never seem to get down when their pitching is horrible... they just try to figure out a way to come up with some more runs... Hiway, did you catch any of the Angels/stRanger games on TV last week? We took the series from the White Sox yesterday by winning a game in which the WS got 22 hits!
-
I have vague but very fond memories of Bobby Murcer... and most of the very fond memories involve him playing the game the way it should be played and being a very good human being... may he rest in peace.

...well, you can always watch them in spring training! Hey boys... did I miss all of the "all star talk" while I was gone? While we still are at the bottom of the pile in pitching stats (as a team), we do have the highest rated offense... which of course only gets us to a little over .500 ball... But we in the stRanger nation are quite proud and pleased to see the first four bats in our lineup all going to the "exhibition" game... Now... another reason for hope... I think I heard last night that we have used 45 (tonight it'll be 46) folks on our 25 man roster... 25 of them pitchers! Half of our starting lineup on any given night started the season in the minors... but they're exciting to watch and seem to like each other... last week in NYC Lupica even told one of our announcers "you get to watch these guys every night? ...must be fun!" CJ Wilson was on the radio the other day talking about how much fun it is to play here, how much better the clubhouse is "since the departure of a couple of players who were only concerned about a paycheck" (really, he said that)... it wasn't too hard to figure out that he was talking about Tex and Gary Matthews Jr who are both plying their trade elsewhere now as y'all know... Anyway, it's hotter than he11 at the ballpark these days... more like a convection oven than anything else but hope springs eternal... Now... I must take back everything I've said about Kinsler's butchering defense... he's actually another Soriano... with the ability to change a game on his own... take a look at his offensive stats, and he's stealing as well as hitting the ball really well... catch his act at the All Star game (since he deserved to start instead of Pedroia!) Later boys... I'll try not to make this a drive-by...
-
...I'm thinking more than six months starman ...remember now, the Pats went down hard!
-
...just curious as some family members went that direction over the weekend.
-
Good on Ryan! ...and good on you as well Robin...
-
Lingo was gone? ...guess I missed that...
-
heck... even we could probably hit in front of Manny with the pitches we'd see... we're getting to see something similar down here with Hamilton and Bradley batting back to back... which probably also accounts for Kinsler and Young a little bit although Michael has been doing it for a while... (I said similar as I'd not want to compare them to Manny/Papi YET!) oh... and a tip of the cap to Junior!

latest news from "As the stRangers Turn": rumor has it that Ponson and Michael Young got into a fight in the locker room after his last start (the day before he was effectively realeased)... I wonder if that has anything to do with the hairline fracture in MY's left ring finger that's kept him out of parts of the last three games?
